Got my Gashapon Quest Boy from Another World and Heroes Daughter a couple days ago.
Pretty happy with them overall, though I do have some gripes. Maybe I'm just not used to these Japanese models, but their parts seem to fall out pretty easily if you move them around too much, so you've got to keep pushing them in to be sure they stay. This wouldn't be an issue except for the fact that some bits like their hands are pretty small, and that once you get them all decked out it can be a bit of a pain access some joints.
Also most of the weapons don't stick into their hands like the figures I'm used to. It's more like they sit in them just enough not to fall out on their own, but absolutely will if a finger brushes up against them. So it's better to pose them before giving them their weapons and shields.
My biggest gripe, is that the legs and hips for the hero boy's pants don't really fit. It was so bad that I was worried I'd gotten a bootleg, only to do some research and read the previous thread and figure out that no, it's just a design flaw. A Japanese youtube video I found recommended sanding down the crotch of the inner hip part to fix this, seen here: https://youtu.be/HO-D4N-yEtc
I didn't do it as much as he did, but it still allowed the legs to fit in and move without instantly flying off.
Despite the flaws I like them a lot. Once you get them posed they look really cool, and they stand unassisted surprisingly well. Looking forward to this newest batch since their simple outfits look like they'll be easy to pose. So yeah, thanks for reading my blog.

So after last year's really poor Super Sentai Donbrothers gashapon that was really just a statue, this year doesn't seem to have a robot release at all.
Also it's really annoying how the redesigned schedule page now only shows a few months, rather than the years back you used to be able to see.

I would say fantasy theme. With all the isekai bs out there people have probably been more into fantasy in a long time. It's also a fun customizable series. They didn't expect Gachapon Quest to go big until the aftermarket price showed up for Wave 1.
By the time they have announced Wave 3 it was too late to change any decision. K-sawa (the guy who has been handling the gashapon projects) was shocked to see people asking for reruns.
We only know after Wave 2 there will be color variation for weapons and armors. After July there will be Wave 3. Wave 4 will be sometime next year. After that Bandai will decide if they are going to continue on the project.

Kidsroom stopped stocking bandai entirely, toysanta still gets some stuff.
This is an issue from Bandai's distribution, one of their moves to reduce scalping.

This goes back awhile from when websites like Amiami and Hobbysearch sold gunpla without the limits bandai set for them, Bandai clamped down and now they don't stock gunpla anymore. Amiami took the extra step of no longer stocking Bandai Shokugan items, but still stocking boxed Gashapon stuff.

After that, Gashapon began to clamp down as well by no longer allowing preorders for bulk sellers. It used to be that bulk capsule toy sellers like dai4 have preorders for Bandai Gashapon items but that is no longer the case, which means only authorized sellers can have Gashapon items, which cuts off people like Toysanta and Kidsroom.

You can still get gashapon stuff through middlemen services but yeah, it's gonna be more expensive.

That's mostly what I collect. There are some collection guides I know of but they are magazines, particularly for keshi (Comp Rex, PVCMagazine, various "encyclopedias" for series such as Ultraman, SD Gundam, etc.). They have photos of all the figures, the booklets, and often the gashapon display art.
Some of these are older issues and are quite expensive/rare, but for some you can occasionally find scans online.
Not an ideal format but better than nothing.

I'm not sure who's supposed to benefit from this, scalpers? The actual gacha machines will get stocked the same way, or they could have simply made more if that was an issue. The only difference is that they're less readily accessible to those who don't have access to gacha machines.

To Bandai's credit, what they're doing is actually working to some extent. For example they have really wanted to kill off gashapon leaks for some time now and removing preorders has pretty much killed off the main leak source.

People are commenting that the ladybugs feel expensive for 1000yen because it's smaller than stag beetles/rhinoceros beetles, but it has plenty of paint apps.

weird take. covid certainly didn't help most businesses, but cheap gacha was already running into issues before that. there was frequent talk on blogs by creators that it was becoming difficult to hit their budget windows on long-running series.

it just couldn't last forever, nothing does. remember when sodas cost 25 cents? yeah, me neither.

The adjustments to the 500yen gashapon lines were always commented as because of the yen depreciation which is directly because of covid.
The most obvious adjustment is the living creature encyclopedia line losing stand and wings for the 500yen line.
