While they mostly did a few unique characters to Mattel Creations (unless they're repaints) Fang-Or would be excellent character to start if they're planning to do more unique characters for retail/more often. He's probably the best attempt at recreading vintage style in entire franchise.

I'd prefer something original, not just rule 63s for some unique monster girls.
Like maybe Skeletor can have a girl based on a traditional goblin with the big ears and sharp nose. MotU doesn't really have one of those (at least as far as toys go). Or maybe based on turtle or grasshopper, neither animal is represented in MotU.

no cigar just yet, and i honestly don't really like that head (nor the loincloth of 200x for that mattter.)
I have an og 200x disco one, but that's the only figure of that line i ever got.
I like the kooky colours but the sculpting is just too busy and overdone for me, tacky instead of fun campy and simple.

Wish they would do more classic styled one honestly as the the 200x style elements on vintage/origins body look even more out of place to me. Especially that leather y texture and the chinese mask.

Pic related is the figure I basically would've bought immediately.

its one of the three variants to come out of Leo Toys' run on MOTU. they were the manufacturers of MOTU figures in India across the 90s. the other two variants are a tan armor skeletor (pic related) and an all black armor and cowl skeletor. Dan made a good vid about it a few years back.

Speaking of which its kind of crazy how so many of these franchises go onto lead a second life in other countries. Its not something I see spoken of often but just think, by the time Masters hit India in the 90s, the franchise had burned out completely in the States. With its last hold outs being South America and Europe by then. So India just got everything from Filmation upto NA dumped into their lap all at once. It must have been a wild experience.

"Akimbo Faker', essentially a green skinned Faker with matching roboto arms, golden skeletor armor, a gold MEF crotch, and Blade's legs with golden boots to match. The circuits on his arms, the vents on his crotch, and the daggers on his thighs would all be painted silver to further evoke a circuitry motief. I figured so much of the figure would be reuse that some money could go into new attachments for his arm.

I can kinda see what you mean. Manimals are bread and butter of MOTU but human dragon has this kinda of "badass" feel that would fit into many other franchises compared to more out-there He-Man charaacters, especially with his sculpt. He sorta feels like more serious 200X redesign of character.

If we are using the Sy-Klone torso, Time-Puncher, like one of those old style machines people would use to clock in at work. It would have made sense in the 80s, and MOTU was full of bad puns.

He was going to use Skeletor's head and he was intended to be exactly what his name implied, a ghost watching everything play out before him. keep in mind the only images we have of the second wave were rough prototypes. I mean I've even seen images of early prototypes of Titano where he still had a MAA head with a silver helmet. If the second wave had come into fruition it wouldnt surprise me if they ended up looking different from their protos. (Prince) Goldar probably could have ended up with either a Sy-Klone or MAA head. I think it's because 8 legs is a spiders defining feature.
Mosquitor and Buzz-Off you can look at without any context and know they're a mosquito and bee because they're have the defining features of those bugs, meanwhile someone unfamiliar with MOTU would be hard pressed to guess classic Webstor is a spider man by just looking at him.
That's why I like then 200X backlegs, not only are they cool they also make Webstor more spider like.

I feel like they no longer do small stuff like Stilt Walker or Meteorbs. Weapons Pak would have to come with action figure - wihch to be honest would make it a little hard to promote it as action pack an not as figure with deluxe ammount of accessories.

Maybe if it was like really a lot accessories in some unique box. I see it more as Mattel Creactions exclusive then something they could put in store.

It's mega based, finally the best playset in the line. Perfect size and easy to transport unlike Eternia, has cool play features and play areas on both the inside and outside now, giant fucking snake to eat people, lair for skeletor, traps and creatures to fuck with people.. it's top tier, honestly not much more I could ask for. What I did was cut the head off a plastic tiger figurine, the. Used a chewed up MOTU origins head I found to glue in the inside for an easy neck joint then used sculpting putty for sculpt the back of the head. I haven’t painted it yet. I’m thinking about just sending the head to someone I know who molds to make make one in just orange. I thought about painting him, but I kinda like the idea of the tiger head on the human body aka King/Armor King from Tekken.

The Lost '88 are cool and have some history so I guess there are those guys. I would be hype to buy Plasmar and Gr'Asp.
Fuerza T is an option but I think they all look ugly except for green beard He-Man. (sorry fuerza anon) I probably would skip these.

That's four. If Plasmar doesn't count because we don't have Rio Blast yet then substitute one of the other fuerza t guys.

The idea of the mini comic repaints as a way to reuse parts was clever but Mattel fumbled it by not doing some tooling for those little details like the feather necklace, trap jaws head bolts. It's picky but if they want to sell something based on my collector autism then actually met those autistic standards.

It seems like some Origins like King Randor, Orko, Trikolps are expensive on the aftermarket.

I watched so many of those documentaries about the Rise and Fall of Motu and it keeps sticking out to me that so many of the recognizable A List characters were never on the pegs here. And those are were people start their collections and are the recognizable part of the brand. Not being able to just buy He-Man in his classic form is what helped killed vintage and they are doing it again.

fuerza-anon here, a few threads ago I actually made a suggestion like this. Since people are already tired of repaints and only the diehards (myself included) are after repaints and parts reuse guys like 88'/Fuerza T then it was my recommendation that the bulk of Fuerza T's cast see release through three packs. In total the first wave was made up of 8 characters, four good and four bad. So just sell Platino and Destructor (the Heman and Skeletor of the line respectively) on single cards as part of a wave predominantly filled with new molds and then the remaining guys could see release like the sun-man cast did. One pack featuring two heroes verus one villains and the other featuring two villains versus one hero. I believe my exact ideas were

Not just Heman and Skeletor, but characters who otherwise dont have squat. MC Man E Faces for example feels like a wasted slot because MEF has a handful of variations from the snakemen design to that red and green repaint from 200X that would have been more interesting and different enough to justify the purchase.

thats a hard question to answer honestly. Im just as infatuated with Lord Faker as I am with Destructor. My head canon for Fuerza T is that it takes place after the events of the 1987 MOTU movie. So I guess I can have my cake and eat it to by letting Faker overtake Eternia in Skeletor's abscence in the NA timeline and letting Destructor and his cronies come into power in the 87' head canon timeline.

The only ones on that big list of potential repaints that seem acceptable are Slin3 Pit He-Man and Battle Armor Faker. BA Faker would also give those who missed a second chance to get him.

I'm not going to completely cry over 200x Lyn repaint stuff but when super 7 did stuff like Shadow Orko or Frozen Teela or Robot He-Man, those feelt incredibly forced. Literally one color repaints good for incredibly situational usage that makes Snake Eternal guards look universal. Toys that in theory could go without articulation for authenticity.

Are the Snake Men actually anyone's favorite faction? Genuinely curious. I feel like the only standouts far as design goes would be Squeeze and Snake Face, everyone else looks like a generic mook or underwhelming when compared to the Evil Warriors or Horde. Those factions having a larger roster helps, but even the supplemental/unreleased Snake Men are far from spectacular.

of the three bad guy factions, I think the snake men the most endearing. skeletor and hordak are obviously the big bads as they get all the cool toys and henchmen, but the snakemen are the little faction that could. I imagine they dont even have a concrete end goal in mind, they just want to prove to the world they could rule it if they so chose to. Hot take, but I think that their small numbers work FOR them, and attempts at expanding the faction actually just make it worse.
You got 5 guys (6 if you count Khan). They're all snakes. And they all have kinda-sorta irl snake abilities (spit venom, flick tongue, shed skin, rattle and quick-strike, constrict prey, and Snake Face kinda stretches it because it's a mythical snake creature power but only slightly stretch because it's still snakes). They're a nice little group rather than army, like the Lunattaks in Thundercats or any Transformers subgroup.
And that's why expanded snake men are shit. The other factions can expand because they're a hodge podge. With snakes, it's either 1) oh look, another snake or 2) it's not a snake so it misses the point. And of it IS snake, what do they do? Repeat gimmicks (why do we need Stretchneck when Rattlor exists?), or they make generics which is just pointless bloat of thr faction (here's a snake that's a wizard! Here's a snake that's an archer!). Or most egregiously, it's Snake Teela tier shit of just changing good guys to snakes.
Fangor is probably the only attempt that kinda gets it, his fangs spring out which is a real snake trait with vipers. I personally don't like him because I don't find him aesthetically appealing, too 200x like for me, but I don't consider him trash like the vast majority of attempts

They've made more of Waves 2 and 3. It's just cumbersome to get to brick and mortar. Walmart and Target sell everything from food to clothes, and nobody at corporate HQ knows if there's unmet demand for action figures of characters named "Tri-Klops" and "King Randor" in Georgetown, Kentucky, or if all the grown men there who collect a particular toy line already sourced them.
It was easy for said men to get the new production run of Wave 3 because it went to Big Bad Toy Store. Wave 2 went to Targets and weren't necessarily matched to collectors who missed them the first time.
