>>10363551>The problem with McFarlane is Todd genuinely doesn't like articulation.this is wrong.
It's not that Todd doesn't like articulation, it's that he loooooooooves sculpt and design, and wants his toys to look as accurate to whatever he has in his head as possible. Which means articulation suffers.
McFarlane Toys in the 90s was one of the most articulated lines back then. It was because of McFarlane Toys that led to articulation being increased (along with more paint, higher end sculpts, and the standard scale becoming 1/12).
In the 00s, McFarlane Toys increased the standard on articulation even more, garnering 30PoA+ on some figures and they even invented the Revoltech joint. However, all the articulation they put into the figures was HIDDEN or obfuscated as much as possible, because Todd wants the sculpt to shine the most. This also meant that articulation wasn't standardize and completely random in where it was put. So you had insane articulation like this on one side of the figure, because it was hidden under a shoulder paldron and furs.
Other companies, like Toy Biz, started adding 30PoA+ too, but standardized it so that it was evenly distributed around the figure and the entire wave.
It was only in the mid-00s when they made McStatues.
After KB Toys and Suncoast/Sam Goody etc closed down, they needed to start making toys for other markets and bought the Halo license to make action figures again. 30PoA+ toys, because kids love articulated toys.
