You write about end of the stick options. I see that material stuff dont bring happines itself most of the time, however what you'll gonna do with said stuff can change that. I have numerous hobbies and think that you shouldnt turn your hobby/things you love or just enjoy doing into a work because it will destroy the thing you love doing, in the long run. The balance is the key, like with material and spirit/mind things (you say improvement but its just a broader term) you can and should treat yourself with something, at least from time time. Many people will buy 12 dol coffy on daily basis, not because they want to wake up, but because they enjoy it, same with lego, it serve a purpose. Im very picky and buy 1 or 2 legos yearly just because i dont want to spend money on the sets which i dont love, but still buy a few, because its ok to treat yourself with something. Just try that and when you think about what a dustcollector you bought, just build something else and improve your imagination.

What do you think about a theme focused around terrain/diorama building. Something like Xtra, with trees of various types, traffic signs etc. Let's say it would be called like Lego World Builder or some shit. I'm thinking about submitting such idea to Lego, I know it would get rejected by community itself since it's not some popular zoomer band, but fuck it, such theme would be useful for big city/diorama makers like myself.

NTA but I can kind of see where he's coming from. Regular studs are perfectly fine and are an important part of what makes a set look like lego, but anti-studs are kinda ugly and not really meant to be shown all that much. It's fine on a smaller set but for the larger-scale UCS they could certainly make it a lot better. Plus it just seems kinda lazy that the bottom wings are just the top ones flipped, you're gonna be building the same fucking thing 4 times.

I did have some weird wording in my post. I mean I'm disappointed I can't find any knockoff raised baseplates. Printed baseplates I've seen before. Raised baseplates was just something lego did for a short period of time

Damn I was going to post red beard runner too. This set came out at just the right time to burn itself in my memory. The play features are especially great. Beyond being a sailor I'm also extremely based so I'm willing to bet both are because of this set.

never thought anything of it but now i see hes worth this much and im torn between keeping him to keep my collection complete (i know its not even a particularly defined category of thing to connect but autism go brrrr), HODLing him in case he can be a down payment on a house someday, or just selling him because frankly £500 would be pretty helpful right now

I had all the second-season American Indian-themed sets, both small cavalry sets (the cavalry pack and the covered wagon), and only a couple of discounted outlaw sets. Those were the box that turned into a cutout of Monument Valley and the little set where the sheriff captures Black Bart. The hideout and Dewey Cheatum (the gambler and arsonist) would have completed all I really wanted from the cowboy faction while I was extremely happy to get all the Red Man-related stuff.

As someone with OCD I know how it feels. You should have bought it right there. Next time it will be even harder. Ask yourself what you want to do with it. It will collect dust either way but you don't have to put it on a shelf like SWfags. It's just one set but you can build stuff around it. For me the thing is that Lego overdid it with how many big sets they release so I have to think about how much do I REALLY care about the theme. Because once I buy a big set in some way it sets a precedent. So if another big set comes out and I like the theme even more I have to get it right? So I don't want to set my standards too low for my first big set if that makes any sense.

For example I think a lot about getting this one since I always liked the space shuttle but it's also a kinda simple design that can be done well in a smaller scale.

I went though that with my grandmother. For future reference to all those who might have to go through that one day. Most of those sets came from friends of the family while Chief's Tepee and Rapid River Village came from my parents. The 90s was pretty much the last decade where kids could be un-PC as hell and get away with it. My mom even made me a cool costume so I could go with my friends as the chief when we dressed up as the Village People for Halloween. I'm still into collecting artifacts, bowmaking, and flintknapping as hobbies leftover from being into Amerindian-themed stuff. Plus it was that which got me into Legos.

Today I think so too. Tbh i don't buy that match, maybe one or big purchase a year and it's for the sets I wanted for a while to avoid hype buys.
And all my negativity is exaggerated because I do "play" with the sets from time to time somethies try to rebuilt it a bit or look if any MOCS are available.

Speaking of Lego being cheap asses, has anyone noticed how Lego seems to be stingy about how many parts they'll include per bag/set?
There's been dozens of times recently where I noticed that Lego doesn't include single pieces if they don't have to, even if it'd make the model look or work better. Another oddity that I've realized is that Lego seems to only allocate a certain amount of pieces per bag, and the flow of building will be made weird by a part not showing up until the next bag.

There’s some really good things going on here. For one, we finally got a lego Indy that came with his iconic gloves that he wears a majority of the movie. The hat and hair combo is good, with the hat looking more like the actual Raiders hat. However, the old one had a more accurate dent on the back of the top of the hat than the new one. The jacket now has back printing on the new one, but the shirt underneath is now a dark tan when it should’ve been white closer to the original. Next is the pants and I don’t know where to even begin. The old pants are superior and more accurate in every way. They gave him a weird black belt on top unlike the old one which is inaccurate to everything I know. Overall the new figure is better, but I don’t know that I would say it’s definitive.

Not to mention these UTS models are primarlily display sets, not toys. Exposed antistuds might be fine on a smaller model intened for play but these sets are literally just supposed to collect dust and look nice. If they don't look nice then they're failing at the one thing they're deisgned to do.
