Nah, good for him for being honest about how it affected him. I don't mind that Jang hates trolls and deletes comments. I don't even read the comments on his videos. What I do get frustrated with is when he sidetracks from a review to address potential troll comments that haven't actually been posted yet, as these mini rants often take a solid 2 minutes.

I often joked about that jang's city only exists because he needs some scenery for his trains and I was right. he does EVERYTHING except making buildings. I built exactly 30 buildings between him making that skyscraper and finishing the port area. some are unfinished for sure but lego isn't even my 1st or 2nd choice of hobby. he's seriously burnt out. and now he removed official buildings, the city is more empty than ever, but all the train shit remains. he even removed entire desks with custom stuff. every time he does something drastic he goes "GOOD FEELS GOOD FEELS!!! YES I'M ON TRACK NOW" then never does anything to expand the city.
he won't do a parking lot or an airport because it takes up too much space, except his train autism takes up just a much. amazing.
and now he refers to troll posts which he won't show, he calls his invading alien race "white guys" and started yelling about needing a fucking safe space.
I just want him to build anything except trains. it's tiring. train autists are the worst. I want him to be happy with his city but he never will be if he won't build shit.

I've thought about it a lot, but I think that the biggest factor ultimately boils down to the over-specialization of modern Lego sets and their pieces.
Take set 6374 here. There's a few specialized pieces for things like the mailbox and awning, but the bulk of the set is white bricks and red slopes that can be used in many ways to create your own personalized house outside of the base model.
Now compare it to 31139, a newer house from this year. Quite a few large pieces are already eaten up by just building the ground for it to stand on. Paths that were before shown through a baseplate are now allocated to dozens of 1 x 1 pieces to bloat piece count. Even more of the set's parts are niche usability pieces for a cheap reference or two. The house consists of many different colors as well, meaning that you'll easily run out of pieces that flow well together, it even happens with the designers of these things.
tl;dr too many specialized pieces in modern sets bad

Honestly this. I remember trying to make a custom brickhead for a friend a year ago, and had the hardest time finding 2x bricks in my collection. Nu lego is ALL small pieces, plates, and you RARELY get any actual bricks anymore. I get you get more detail with smaller parts, but fucking hell, like your pic, why did they have to make 12 cheese wedges instead of 6 dual cheeze slopes and all the greebling shit other than to bump up the piece count to hit a price range

I'm a nostalgic boomer who keeps talking about how back then everything had more soul and better aesthetics but when it comes to Lego it only got better for the most part. The only thing that made me miss older Lego was seeing the instructions for the X-Wing coming with a comic and alt-builds. Now that was pretty soulful.

Also in general the instructions dumb everything down so much nowadays that you enter auto pilot when building.

If the parts aren't minifig parts you can try using the online form on their website for missing parts. If you have an account with prior purchases on lego.com it should work. Used to be you could order up to 5 parts of any type through that form but many people, me included, abused it to order rare minifigs.l and now it automatically blocks most requests and tells you to call customer service. Won't hurt trying. Also if you already have sets that contain those parts, you could call/email lego and tell them the parts broke and you need replacements and then just send them pictures of the set with those parts taken out. If they want pics of the broken parts tell them you threw them out. Still many ways to scam lego even though the damn jews have caught on to some.

What is up with the quality of Lego lately? I know it’s a meme but I bought all the Indiana Jones sets and they were full of issues and weird things. The grail set had an extra indy hat, and the idol temple had an extra whip, and the ark temple has 2 sticker sheets. Those are nice to have bonuses of but the inconsistency is weird. The issues mostly came in the idol temple set, one of the bag 9s wasn’t sealed so parts spilled all over the box and it was missing 3 parts that I assume fell out in the factory, a 1x6 tile was in the wrong bag, and it wasn’t even close it was like 4 bags apart from where you use it, but the issue across all 3 sets was that at least 1/4 of the brick had really nasty injection marks and extra plastic from the mold still stuck on that I had to scrape off. I’ve never experienced a Lego set or theme with this many big issues and inconsistencies, did anyone else have these issues?

Fell within the limitations of the bricks design while still doing as much as it could with new interesting parts and gadgets. That and while it is memed here, in house themes were THE thing Lego surrounded on and not existing properties. It encouraged creativity with the bricks, while still allowing you to rebuild the original thing. The only reason I find I buy new Lego is because it has more bricks or random ones. I never find myself buying it for the actual theme half of the time.

They made a fuckload more of those 1x1 ones in Medium Azure and also for a longer time than they did 1x2 slopes so they can easier get rid of overstock.

I saw a video of someone who’s more of an Indiana Jones fan more than a Lego fan who bought two of the Well of Souls sets and was able to build something much more substantial and accurate to the film by only using the pieces in both sets. Just makes me wonder what a true lego fan could do with the idea and their own pieces. I think making it higher and having an area above with the whole and a rope down would make it a lot better, but then again we didn’t get a Belloq figure.

I don't think you lot understand just how often some of that shit gets commented or posted.
I use to moderate comments for a friends gaming channel. He had around 300k subs and would average about 150 comments per video with in a couple of days of uploading it. Of those 150 comments, 50+ or so would end up being deleted because they were fucktards posting shit like "this game sucks, why are you playing it" or "you should play this game" or some other bullshit, over and over again. It wasn't just one or two people on a handful of videos commenting that he should play Minecraft or Among Us, or that what he was playing and enjoying/getting good views was bad, it was dozens of people, making multiple comments, every video.
That's the reason he got me to start moding his comments, because he was sick of reading it. I got sick of reading it after about 3 months of doing it casually.

The pieces are so inherently valuable that you can coast an entire yearly toy budget on just jettisoning the crap you don't want. As a collectors hobby Lego is expensive as fuck if you want all sets from a particular theme. For example the entire wave of Dreamzzz alone costs around 645 dollars, and that is literally just the first wave alone. If you want to collect the entire line with each new wave you'd have to spend thousands. That's way more expensive than video games. You only have to spend 1000 or so on the PC and you can get a bunch of games with a budget of 60 dollars especially on sales.

How can you balance that as a set designer though? If you have all or most characters in every set you get a lot of repeats with just a few boxes, but if you don't repeat them you miss out unless you buy every single set. I know I wouldn't have liked double characters as a kid, me and my brother often got pairs of sets from the same theme and every minifig was unique during play.
This is more of a problem for licensed stuff or small team/tv themes, where not having every ninjago ninja or the full abenger cast affects play more than not having squidtron or danju. At the same time some themes have obligate duplicates because a Batman set without a Batman is worthless.
This shouldn't be a problem for a collector though, you can always buy the figs you lack and sell the surplus.

I built the idol temple today and got both an extra hat and an extra whip. several tiles had nubs of plastic on the ends of them too. also it felt like the hands on one of my minifigs was going to snap. no pieces were missing but around Christmas my brother and I built the anniversary modular and it had a bag busted open like you said and was missing 2 1x3 tan bricks.

Actually I've a question on that. I'm a newfag to lego. During the build I put some pieces the wrong way.
When attempting to split them, I kind of damaged the corner of one of the pieces by trying to pry it loose with a guitar pick.
What's the correct way to split apart wrongly joined Lego so this doesn't happen? It's not major damage and can't be seen in the build either but I am curious
