Catra and Entrapta take priority. They're both vintage toys and Horde members. From there we have basically 2 groups that share only one of those traits: vintage toys like Bow and Glimmer and Horde members like Scorpia and Shadow Weaver which makes it disputable which of those more demand to be made. All I know that there Madame Razz and Sea Hawk are sad outliers who don't fit in either category and won't get made unless we'll go heavily into POP. In theory, logic dictates vintage toys take priority. That's the point of the line, right? There is no Shadow Weaver without Great Rebellion. Imagine toyline without Skeletor, Mer-Man, Teela or Stratos but with Marzo, Marlena and Fang Man.

I have related question: POP figures already feel girly and cutesy.Don't get me started on Kowl and Loo-Kee. And then there are non-figure toys.

Is there any demand for playsets like Crystal Castle and Crystal Falls? For toys like Butterflyer or Sea Harp? Do Fantastic Fashions offer great alternative to repaints? Is there any way to spice up these toys the way Snake Mountain is getting spiced up so they fit better?

All that other stuff is a pass. I can barely afford Motu Origins without branching off into PoP.

Origins figures are a different story. Those aren't going to cost an arm and a leg in shipping.

Until Classics actually made him into a character and now he also featured in MCX and Origins. Yet the latter was sold in like seconds thus making him retardedly overpriced.

Wun-Darr wasn't thought to be a bootleg originally , he was thought to be a Wonder-bread promotion though(hence the nickname). The most likely answer seems to be that it was a Mattel promo item. But because it was such a rarity, it was bootleged in fan circles because of the high demand and the fact that there's enough real ones(and the general lack of documentation in the past) it was easier to pass off a fake as an original.

Origins Wun-Dar really doesn't go for that much of an absurd price. Every other Mattel Creations figure save for maybe Sun-Man go for way more than him.
Spending $50 on an Origins isn't ideal, but it's obtainable. Although I'd wait til the next batch that were Made-to-order to flood the aftermarket, he'll probably cost more like $35-40 for a bit due to saturation

What do you guys like or hate about Snake Face?
I ask because i'm completely undecided the Origins version because on one hand, I've never owned any previous version of him so I have no real nostalgic connection or attachment, but on the flipside, part of me thinks I should get him BECAUSE I've never owned one, just so I can have him in person and see if I take to him (sort of how I was never a Scare Glow fan until I got my first version in Origins and now I'm a fan). Maybe hearing others opinions on the character will help me make my decision.

Retard here, my origins Scare Glow is quite stiff in the elbows and knees and the hairdryer works but it's momentary.
Should I put him into hot water to make the stiffness go? I fear the gitd will be screwed but I'm not sure about that since it's plastic and not gitd paint.

Would any of you MOTU anons want a nu-Catra figure that wasn’t a doll and had far more than 5POA? I never got into this franchise beyond casually watching 200X (I was born mid-80s so I knew of He-Man at the least) and never saw more than a clip or two of the She-Ra reboot. I don’t have a dog (or cat?) in this fight other than thinking a tsundere lesbian catgirl is cute, but if there was a custom figure kit or printed head that could work with a Marvel Legends or Figma body would you anons buy it even for meme pics?

I wouldn't, but I didn't care for how her character was handled in the slightest. I also don't think the series really appeals to the MOTU aesthetic at all, so it has little to offer collectors. That series might as well have been a new IP, and I think it would have seen more success without all the roiling controversy it caused by wearing the She-Ra name. I personally only watched it for the Hordak and Entrapta relationship.

the plastic will be fine. I had a skeletor with a similarly stiff left elbow which rendered his arm immobile out of package but for whatever reason the joint loosened up overtime all on its own. If you really are apprehensive about treating scareglow to a dip in the hot tub then just leave him somewhere in your home at room temperature for awhile.

fucking this, that entire wave of late 2010's revivals all carried that same baggage with them. it was evident the creatives behind all those "reboots" had no interest in the original series and just jumped at the opportunity to work on these shows due to the brand familiarity.

Weird, it was a small alien but damn that was like 14 years ago. I put it in water and after I dried it the glow was incredibly low.
But at any rate, I hope this doesn't happen to Scareglow. And I don't mind loose parts that much as I like to pose him and play a lot.

i mentioned it in last thread but all the pegs are mostly barren at my local target. what little remained (MV Stratos and Origins Buzz Off) was clearanced to half price. I was tempted by MV Stratos but my entire collection is origins so I dont know what i'd even do with him.

The question of why they made a brown haired He-Man remains however. Some theories are that he was going to be prince Adam, but a Conan related lawsuit might've made Mattel reconsider the hair color. It's also weird he had 2 of 5 random accessories.

It's probably just completely random, dark colors paint over light ones easier and it was likely excess stock they had. It's a He-man who's still recognizably He-man in suits minds(remember a lot of boy's action toys at the time like GI Joe were often the same figure but with different hair/skin colors)and a kid would probably be most excited to get a He-man. Different color is an easy tell for parents that they did get a new figure.
Wonderbread He-man's boots were literally dipped in paint, these were made with speed and efficiency in mind. He-man is one of the simpler figures(very little paint or greebles on his body to be painted), they probably had a lot of excess heads made.

thanks for reposting these anon. I've made sure to save them this time around. I think the original list works best for how unexpected some of th3 match ups are. I would have never thought to pitch Randor against Blade or Mek against Triklops for example. Im saving the revised list anyways since I like the ideas there too.

I love the later figures, this is one I never had or even knew about until the last year or so. He is uniqiue enough and the effort to make him grotesque pleases me. I like picking up figures I never had, thats part of the appeal of Origins.
I am thinking Origins is going to be tough to top in the future and will be eventually recognized as a modern classic version for MotU toys.

Admittedly, I hate PoP, so Adora shit wouldn't factor into it for me personally, but I'd watch a MotU show that focused solely on Randor and Hordak as the lead hero and villain.

Well I mean Snake Face called himself the king in front of him and he just stood there (was he supposed to be stoned and just improperly colored? Because they're actively trying to push you towards Masterverse since they're more expensive figures. Origins main selling point was it was the "gimmick" line, but if that's gone and all you've got left are the sculpts and articulation, why wouldn't you go for the line with better sculpts and more articulation?

I never did pick this one up. I will if I stumble across it in the wild. For the record, I really like the first head they released him with in the line, the permanent cackle really suits his personality. Filmation Skeletor is really what it's all about, even if I think his original toy design is a little bit more interesting aesthetically. I spent way too much money on the Filmation Classics figure, but I cherish it.

I think the last genuinely good minicomic was Snout Spout v Leech.
imo, the first signs of quality decay was Kol Darr comic. Not that it was objectively bad, but it was the start of pulling new randos out of their ass (and naming the villain leader after some fanboys username was a bit cringe).
The comics started being objectively bad with the Grizzlor comic, and wave 11 was the first wave with the godawful new artist that just traces pictures of action figures and they've never recovered. I'd just as soon see them discontinued at this point. They're not adding quality or value anymore.

the juxtaposition just seemed funny since stratos has always been portrayed as honorable and levelheaded. Making a smarmy lawyer of him fit aswell as it did Birdman. Mattel clearly has its own plans for MOTU as a whole but I really wish we could have gotten a Sealab/Harvey Birdman esc series out of masters at some point.

I agree completely, many anons have noted it before, but really the filmation series did a poor job of advertising many of the toyline characters. When the return of faker released it was my hope that the guy behind it would get the greenlight from mattel to make more episodes like it. Shame things ended the way they did but atleast the guy ended up working on the clean up for the filmation series.

Rob McCallum (the return of faker guy) basically had to build up a collection of backgrounds on his own through scrubbing through episodes of the series and screenshotting backgrounds and porting them into photoshop to eliminate any traces of the foreground characters. When certain backgrounds proved too cluttered to clean up he'd pour over auction sites with listings of old cells and rip the images from them when he couldnt outright buy the cells himself. If you're looking for filmation backgrounds for photography, you'll probably find some of the more iconic shots online but otherwise its going to be alot of work.

i couldnt get that snake he-man out of my head so I ended up drawing this. 2/3rds of a rattlor topped off with an 0X he-man head and a basic pair of origins boots and trunk to finish him off. Really the only new part would be the harness.

How about if Origins did Blast-Attak with 2 chests? One normal with articulation and one with pegs at bottom to keep it locked when he splits. Two-Bad, Sy-klone and Modukok will obviously be next because 1) they're the most popular guys not made and b) Sy-klone gets you Strobo and Modulok is already partially tooled at least (Frog Monger). And I'll bet Rio Blast will join thrm because Plasmar pieces.
Then, since they're doing Rio anyway, they'll just spam his wave mates Extendar and the Rocks and finish the last of the Horde. Idk where they'd slot in Blast-Attak, but the movie guys are gonna wind up dead last after all the rest because they're just not popular characters.

Obviously there's wiggle room, but generally, I think it's pretty obvious thats how Mattel would do it

Look, I'm with you in thinking CGI was great and Rev was shit, but unfortunately, a large enough portion of this fandom has shit enough taste that Revelation succeeded in at least meeting whatever expectations Mattel had for it.
Of course, I also don't believe there's been a final nail in the coffin for more CGI yet, so maybe I'm a delusional idiot. And if it is, unfortunately we've got to face that CGI failed on its own, not because of Revelation

Just because Teela was the primary lead doesn't mean the others can't be done right. As the lead, if anything, she's subject to more issues because she's the focus. Andra is portrayed as a skilled person in a new world. Evil-Lyn likewise was characterized by her overcoming abuse, so that of course makes her look weak.

Meanwhile Duncan was portrayed as a badass (with some weak character aspects because he cares too much), and Adam can be portrayed as a paragon of good. Roboto with his heroic sacrifice. Sorceress was also written as highly competent.

Basically I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

You should've expected it.
When they released the He-Man cartoon 4 pack last year, you had to have known a Skeletor equivalent will eventually follow

They're not gonna male Filmation he-man exclusive to a set and then make Filmation Skeletor a standalone retail figure
