>>10376630I loved the movie and its portrayal of Peach, surprisingly. I thought her voice was too generic in the trailers but by my second viewing in theaters, it simply felt natural. I do think going out of their way to establish that she cleared the obstacle course on her first try was too much; it felt like overcompensating for her pop cultural status as a damsel in distress. I was worried everything about her might feel that way, though.
>>10377990Yeah, they could have added some feminine flourishes. Honestly, I'd have been satisfied if they'd just shown her baking a cake or simply mentioned her affinity for it.
>>10377515>>10377556Aron Tager's Cranky from the old cartoon was absolutely perfect. Armisen's portrayal caught me off guard initially, but I came around to his Larry David style Cranky as a solid second place. It's leagues better than the generic grandfatherly figure he's been stuck as since Rare left Nintendo, even if it still falls short of the biting, bitterly sarcastic braggart from the original trilogy (and, perhaps most importantly, its instruction manuals).
Honestly, I thought the entire cast did a good job. I was shocked by how much I ended up liking Chris Pratt's Mario; he was somehow a natural after those jarring takes in the trailers, and I almost forgot who it was behind this Mario; he just felt like (a) Mario.
