Why would you want that? Speaking also as a fan of BW+Armada, but also Galaxy Force, Animated, WfC/FoC, Prime, Rescue Bots, the comics, a ton more... Transformers' strength comes from when it's able to become something completely new. Armada is special because it's nothing like the rest of the franchise.
Sure, having a small return to any of these corners of TF would be nice, but I personally wish the movies would go in more unique directions. Love or hate the first Bay film, but it absolutely was nothing like anything TF before, and that made it stand out all the more: it had creative ambition.

The state of Transformers as of now has been predominately G1 and there's no avoiding it. Nostalgia on that shit is selling hard but it's also getting old and no matter how much new stuff you make it'll all have to be based on something. So instead of making the new CG animated movie set in another version of the G1 universe complete with a Bumblebee, the love-interest Elita One and the silver buckethead Megatron why not instead base it on Armada. It won't be a complete adaptation or retelling of Armada but it'll be another version of it and that is much more refreshing than what we have now.

They have a good reason for releasing Armada designs, and that's because 2003 was the anniversary of Armada's Western release (2002 was the Japanese release, and they only had Starscream and Hot Shot to show for it). There is way little sprinkling of Japan-only stuff (Diaclone Universe stuff and anime-exclusives from Victory onwards), and have questionable new versions of Animated and Prime stuff. Lastly, among the comic-originals, we only got Tarn, which is awesome, by the way.

On a different note, how do you feel if Galvatron, Scourge and Cyclonus become triple-changers if they do continue the Movie series? I sure have no hope on live-action Transformers after Rise of the Beasts if I were to be honest, but if that's the case, they won't be just triple-changers, but also combiners. No? Terrible idea? Then let's watch the movieverse sink into oblivion this June.

Wrong, actually! 2003 was Japan's release; Armada's dub was rushed ahead and released 6 months EARLIER in 2002. That's why the dub is so much shittier in every conceivable quality measure, including but not limited to animation errors, vocal performances, audio balancing, and the extreme over-simplification (and sometimes nonsense-ification) of the script!

This. It's obviously not ideal and it would certainly be nice if they avoided doing it, but if a toy looks good otherwise, hollow forearms are never a dealbreaker for me. I don't understand the anons who get riled up over it, but I'm guessing they view their figures more as display pieces than functional toys, so to each their own.

And that's why there should've been more out of it's anniversary. Beast Wars got a lot out of its anniversary, half a toyline dedicated solely to it with more still coming out even today and in the future as we speak. As well as an appearance on the big screen with Rise of the Beasts. This is all attributed to the explicit link Beast Wars has to G1 which makes more easily marketable and adding on alongside G1 that is still being milked today. Yeah, I'm a fucking fagboy for Armada and to an extent the Unicron Trilogy, it's the shit I grew up with so nostalgia is definitely blinding me here. I know its shot reputation is why we're most likely going to get maybe 5 (including Tidal Wave from next year if he is actually real and confirmed) toys at max for generations right now and nothing much else. But goddamnit Armada is one of if not the most unique entry in the franchise for having subtle references to G1 but refusing to be derived from its designs and forging its own anti-war message that is actually well executed for the most part (if you watch the Japanese version that is) rather than be another Saturday morning cartoon. It deserves its recognition and should not be forgotten to time or avoided by the new generation because of its reputation.

Is there even any hint of Galvatron and Cyclonus appearing in the new movies? And even if they do show up they'll probably make them resemble their G1 counterparts robot mode wise while giving them different vehicle modes and I don't mind. That seems to be the norm today anyways, make it resemble G1 as much as it can while not being G1.

That explains why insider reports called ROTB a mess. They kept flip-flopping on ideas on whether to fit it in Bay's five movie continuity or not as part of the problem. Another problem I heard was creative differences between the various animation teams.

I average buying like 2 or 3 Transformers a year lately, if that, because I don't care about characters or checklists and just buy what looks fun and interesting, without getting hung up on little imperfections. AlfonsoNation (who has a source working on the film, he did post the ststue pics first around november) says Unicron is not the main villain of the film but of the entire trilogy and he won't go down yet, also he hints at Megatron showing up. So I guess movie 2 is Megatron and 3rd is Unicron Wars.

Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Defensor

I guess I would call this the end of part 1 of CW.
Since Hot Spot was the last torso mold we got, everything that came after was just retools of This guy, Superion and Menasor.

Of the Scramble City sets I guess I would say the Protectobots and Defensor are my least favourite.
Big part of that has to be their lack of fiction. Mostly what we know about these guys comes from their bios. And as a gestalt Defensor has always given of this stick-in-the-mud energy to me.
Though, I will say, I've soften on these guys recently. Probably because they've been sitting on my desk for overt a month I think.

Aesthetically he's okay. Still the boxiest of the Scramble city boys but the Generations-ization breaks that up a bit.
I've come around on the colours. Two white limbs and two white and red limbs look alright. The red details strewn about Hot help marry the blue into the look as well.

Actually a big fan of how the colours on Blades and First Aid are inverted, I think it's neat.
And, if you squint, Rook and Streetwise could be kneesocks and the black on the thighs would be, like, hot pants

Actually, it has a ton of paint, because the whole thing is molded in gray plastic, the red and blue is pain. And yes, that's the mainline, but the SS is getting a remold of this one as RotB Prime in the Buzzworthy line.

Far as posing goes Defesnor is alright.
He's got the ratcheted shoulders, and hips, and knees.
Technically double bends at the elbows.
Swivels at the biceps, thighs, neck, and below the knees too.
And the wrists and feet can swivel too.
Just given the construction a waist swivel was impossible. And every being all messed up in the groin area hinders attempts to pose the hips as well.

But he is constructed solid enough that you can things like this

Though to be fair; in that case they only had one episode to sell Dai Atlas' toy, so they just let him and the other "Powered Masters" get a generic anime powerup to easily take down some of the old Decepticons so kids would want to buy him. King Poseidon/Piranacon and Trypticon also died, but their deaths weren't as flashy, so people don't really remember that part as much. Amusingly, Piranacon also gets played up as one of "the most powerful" combiners like Predaking does, and his track record's also pretty pathetic (though at least his jobbing wasn't as humiliating as some of Predaking's more infamous losses).

To be fair, Piranacon (or rather King Poseidon) is built different. He is a Scramble city type combiner but all his limb bots are drones so his power boost is comparable to God Ginrai with only size being his advantage.

Not surprising, melee weapons can only get you so far. But guns are so easy to play and pose with because they technically work in all ranges. Going to get Rhinox soon from my closest store because that's one of the best standalone minigun made. Though sadly I doubt Commander Jetfire's hands can wield it.

Okay, I get what the hell is going on when Hasbro is making the Core Class Dinobots. Those guys were just gonna be used as models for the Dinoforce from Victory this whole time! Is he good, though? He seems kinda lame to me; really generic body, most of his legs and torso are just hanging off the back of a plane, and the plane just hangs off his back in robot mode, which is pretty bland over all. That could feasibly be fixed with a repaint, but nothing can fix this alt mode, sadly.

What's the best Grimlock to go for if I'm getting into the game late and don't want to sell my kidney? Studio Series looks great, but seems to have at least quadrupled in price. I've had Power of the Primes Grimlock for years and I'm mostly satisfied with him. A few extra stickers and weapons really help him, but I'm not sure if I'd recommend him. Only if you're really desperate for a Grimlock that isn't SS86.

My favorite part of this franchise is how it can be legitimately dramatic and epic for one episode and full retard in another. There are planet eating monstrosities and Carbombya in G1, Waspinator and Dinobot in Beast Wars, Gel Shark reciting haiku while leading legitimate terror raids in Car Robots, and this Looney Tunes dinosaur upgrade kit nonsense in Zone. The colors aren't really a big deal - the ship changed colors often in pretty much every depiction of it (see >>10402152, which actually is pretty close to the color on the toy). Hell, in Beast Wars, the thing looked black, and any continuity where Trypticon is the Nemeis, it's obviously got his color scheme. The color they decided on for the final product looks close to the shade of the current Decepticon symbol, which makes sense.
