i want more unitron mocs. they're the faction with the most potential, i love how militaristic they looked and the color scheme is dope (though i'll never understand why they gave the minifigures those warm yellow helmets that clash pretty hard with the cold more greenish neon yellow of the transparent pieces).

I wanted to make a digital model of a MOC I made (for fun). Does anyone have experience/recommendations they can share with the various options? I've found a few blogs online comparing LeoCAD, LDD, BLS, etc but they were all pretty superficial.

So if I'm not mistaken those new joints allow for bicep/thigh swivel. Man leg's been making one by one advancements with these joints. Hope to see them in Ninjago Titan sets because they need those swivels.

Isn't that what people want from this? A parts set to build with. TLG is just hedging themselves by making it a theme to better market it.

People seem to forget it's a toy designed to have wide appeal, not a specialized kit to be sold exclusively to you.

They have been working their way back to that. I mean they at least try to maintain some kind of zany in their shows at least. I think they might have taken that too far in LEGO City Adventures though. Seemed like some of the jokes were way over specified and didn't really work. Kind of like Fairly Odd Parents.

I feel like lego was trying really hard to give the dreamzzz sets soulful designs, but the building techniques are all still so specialized that it feels like it defeats the purpose.
Like, the designs seem great for sparking kids imaginations, but the part specialization is still troublesome. I know as a kid I wouldn't have had any idea what to do with parts like that.
Maybe my expectations for the goal of the theme are too off base though. I guess this is supposed to be a story based theme with recognizable builds from the media rather than one that's explicitly "pretend you're one of the characters and build your own dream creation!" They should have tried a more Queen Watevra from Lego Movie 2 if they really want to emphasize creativity. The departure from animals and creatures being heavily brick built I feel is a major issue. It's like the brand is having an identity crisis and thinks all the builds need all this specialized shit to be as close to an action figure as possible within their system sets whenever they have a giant or a monster or something. Less is more. Bring back brick creatures with like eyeball prints.

Why? Because theme is unisex, even more leaning into girly. NuLego designers are stuck in their twitter bubble, most parents have more conservative views. Fathers wont buy those to their sons, unless Lego releases some cartoon which is going to be good enough for kids to hook up, otherwise, its going to be a failure.

I think a big thing is the lack of smaller sets. New themes can't thrive because they all have the shitty "conflict in a box" crap making the price of admission too steep for a kid who has no clue what the fuck they're looking at. Let's say they have to choose between a City/licensed theme or this new theme. The first two have little ten dollar sets or polybags, as opposed to a twenty dollar set from Dreamzzz, and they at least recognize the former as opposed to the latter. Which do you think they'll buy? This shit applies to all newer original themes. Lack of impulse sets is a severe handicap right out the gate.

Nexo had impulse buy sets, so did Chima.
Fun fact, chima sold better than ninjago in 2013, dirst year but by the time of ice fire wave it went down. First year was super strong. Dreamzzz has potential to grow in next year because it isnt limited to one concept.
