>>10407413So, some interesting (anecdotal) observations I would like to share about Indiana Jones toys that I've seen after going to several Wal-Mart and Target stores.
The Adventure Series and retro figures are flying off the shelves. They clearly got a good amount of stock judging by all the empty pegs marked for them. I have not seen a single peg for Adventure Series that still had action figures on it, and I have seen exactly 3 retro figures still in stock. One Belloq, and two Marians at different stores. I think it's safe to say that all the toys that are currently targeted at older collectors are a big hit right now.
On the flipside, all of the toys aimed specifically at kids, like the little deformed adventure figures and the oversized hard plastic ones, don't seem to be moving. They're all still in stock to the back of the shelf. I think it's safe to say that kids don't have any interest in Indiana Jones, and if any of these things sell it will be adults pushing them on their kids as birthday and Christmas gifts.
So, that's kind of a weird observation. It looks like Hasbro is definitely having success with the grownups, but kids are not interested, and really who can blame them? It's been 10 years since the last Indiana Jones movie was in theaters, and at this point the franchise is basically about an old man getting bullied. Still, I hope this means we get more stuff targeted at adults. Personally I'd love to see some modern 1/18 figures on shelves again, something akin to the Star Wars Vintage Collection. More importantly though, Adventure series needs more characters. I think we have enough variants of Indy.
