>Original Plug In PET: released for the original two seasons of the anime. used its own chips, not cross compatible, only chips were the ones included with the PET and both included the same chips. There were two versions released, one in red and one in blue>Advance PET: released for season 3, Axess. Full array of battle chip releases sold in card packs. Released in Blue, Red, and Black>Advance PET II, upgraded white and blue release with added functions based around the character chips>Progress PET, released for season 4, Stream. Same capabilities as the Advanced II with a new set of battle chips and tactical attachments, like grips and screen covers. Backwards compatible with Advanced chips. Released in Blue, Red, and Black. Also gameplay wise it was a mini dungeon crawler instead of the pedometer style games like the Advanced>Link PET: released for season 5, Beast. Uses smaller chips but still compatible with previous chips. These focused more on customizabulity and personalization, with face plates and character emblems sold in character packs and easy to switch out, sold in white, black, clear blue, and teal. Now here's a real kicker, the Battle chips starting from the advanced series were made to be cross compatible with the games. Peripheral attachments for the GBA were released for 4, 5, and 6 that could allow battle chips to be used in game when battling in multiplayer, with 6 they also incorporated them into an arcade game.
Also this format continued into the sequel series, Starforce/Shooting Star, but they abandoned chips in favor of barcodes on paper cards, or plastic ones with punch out holes where you were supposed to tap your stylus to input codes in the games. These were only realeased for 1 and 2, 3 had no toy tie ins whatsoever.
That caps off my highly autistic infodump on Takara's digital battle pet line for Mega Man, you're welcome.
