They want the line to be easy to identify by using some kind of recognizable trademark feature but it always makes the figures unappealing in the process and it's not even implemented on all figures so it's all the more pointless. That's a pretty low bar to cross. Aside from Hey Arnold!, The Wild Thornberrys and especially Spongebob, the late-90s was a pretty forgettable year for Nicktoons. I mean hell, Rocket Power wasn't in All-Star Brawl, now as it in the Kart Racers trilogy. There isn't been any new Rocket Power toys since the mid-2000s either, unlike most 90s Nicktoons.

Youtooz come in a wider variety of body shapes than funkopops. Economies of scale favors the funkopops due to them sharing a relatively identical proportions. That might partially explain why youtooz cost as much as Figuarts Mini, and some of the cheaper S.H. Figuarts. I never owned a Youtooz, and I don't know if they are made of higher quality materials. I used to own a funkopops, and I remember them being pretty industrialgrade and slightly greasy, a bit SAD to the touch (probably explains why most funkofags are keep their consumables NRFB).

That's...not how that works at all. Funko Pops are, as far as I can tell, all unique sculpts. They have different poses, body types, and superficial detailing. That means their molds will cost just as much as Youtooz. Having "similar proportions" to each other confers no advantage at all when it comes to cost.

The only part you got right is that it is about economies of scale. But only in the sense that Funko is a much bigger and more popular operation, and can afford much bigger runs, which equals less cost per unit. Your reasoning about proportions was completely off base.

I've never owned a funko pop nor do I own any youtooz but from what I've seen youtooz are significantly better than pops in every way.
Their stylized figures while not great still look better than the souless, hello kitty inspired bullshit that pops have going for them and they also put out a lot of figures that look exactly like their canon versions.
I might pick up some of the south park ones if I ever see them for a good price.
