So the consensus for why THE COOLEST TOYLINE EVER doesn't get a reboot is that Mattel bought out the original owner (Tyco) and also holds the Jurassic World license, right?
Would they really not make more money selling dinosaurs WITH GUNS ALL OVER THEM and seats for included anthro aliens? Kids would rather have plain dinosaurs because of a movie logo?

Mattel made some shitty one with unpainted non-articulated figures. It didn't do well so they abandoned it. Should have just made them MEGA sets. Unfortunately they can't use the existing JP stuff since they don't own it. Ideally there would be some sort of third party stuff that you could just add on to all those JP dinos, but the brand just isnt popular enough.

You're failing to consider the possibility that the Jurassic World license holders might pull the brand entirely if they deemed Mattel was putting out a brand competing with theirs. So, yeah, Mattel could stand to actually make LESS money by putting out Dino Riders if the licenser did take that attitude. So why would Mattel jeopardize a cash cow just to make a couple extra bucks? They wouldn't bother to even try risking it.

Right, but in a counterfactual where a competitor had gotten the Jurassic license when Mattel did IRL, they'd have an incentive to make Dino-Riders instead, right? Then kids would have a choice between gun-covered dinosaurs ridden by aliens and Jurassic World-branded plain dinos. It's weird to think that they'd prefer the latter.

I dont think that it would be that expensive. If you look at the re-use of molds in the first series. And the armor should be snap on to make the dinosaur molds re-usable and maybe sell them as smithonian toys later!

We'll get them if and only if Jurassic goes on a hiatus like was originally planned. Before COVID pushed back Jurassic world Dominion by an entire year there was going to be a significant gap between the movie release and the 30th anniversary. It was heavily suggested by an insider that a small dino riders revival was planned here, and that depending how it went we may see more in the future. When and if Jurassic dries up now, since universal is pressing ahead with more JP tv shows and shit and eventually more movies who knows if there will actually be enough of a gap to work it in. Hopefully some of the cyberzoic armor can be repurposed on dinosaurs that actually work as toys.

I haven't heard that rumor, but seeing as there is no new film or show on the horizon, I'd give it a year or so, maybe even the end of the year.

A possibility i could see would be to scale it back, eliminate the stuff that rots on the shelf like the action feature stuff, reallocate resources and keep doing HC and fully capitalising on the '93 collection, which is honestly the closest we would get to a Dino-Riders thing.

For me, the thing that will give me hope the line will continue is if Gennaro gets a mass retail release, as he is a hairy legged, balding lawyer in shorts with a briefcase. If thst sells than anything will. (Id buy one for customs)

yes, both series were handled by tyco. tyco later sold their dinosaurs and ice age megafauna molds through the smithsonian and at some point were gobbled up by mattel.

Camp Cretacious is over, i think for like a year now, watched a bit of it with my nephew and its..fine i guess. Im a older zoomer who grew up watching Teen Titans and JLU, so it really didnt scratch that itch.

Of course there is ALWAYS possibilities for cool JP shit if Amblin and Universal would actually take a fucking risk. They showed a Dino fight club in Dominion, and Netflix produced/aired both Cyberpunk and CC, so why the fuck not have a rags to riches story of a street rat in Malta raising a dinosaur for underground combat, animated by Trigger? Make it a bit violent, maybe the kid has a shitty home life, just fucking something to chew on.

Hell, JP as an IP has been through so many concepts and revisions that im suprised that haven't milked it for all its worth. Like fuck canon, give us adaptations of the comics, the novels, the scrapped film plans, the fucking Horror Nights maze where some dickhead mixed dino DNA with humans and they want his head! I honestly think it's a lack of trying.

Creative Beast studios is doing the Kickstarter for their Beasts of the Cyberzoic line at the end of the year and its a spiritual successor, but it's going o be in the same price range at their BotM line so it'll be mostly for older collectors rather than something kids can get into.

Pretty much this. They cannot compete in the same space, and they cannot merge them with JP for two reasons: 1) licensor approval 2) why the fuck pay the licensor fees if they shockingly did approve.

What's more likely to happen is it might stand a chance if Mattel ever loses the JP license.

This concept isnt as exciting anymore. It's just the same influx of generic museum dinos but with optional armor. What we need is more of (hybrid) mecha dinos with parts molded in and/or OC dinos.
