The only one I've ever bought and plan on having is Goldar. I've had zero issues but I understand I'm one of the lucky ones. The lightning collection scale and paint just weren't doing it for me. I literally just come to these threads to see people bitch.

These companies all suck. Every one of them wants to charge an arm and a leg (or, the whole body in the case of Super7), but not one of them goes the extra mile to offer a quality product. I don't care about the cost, I'll pay 50-100 bucks a fig to get highly articulated, fully painted figures that look dead-on accurate to the source material. But that will never happen because when a company hears, "I'll pay 100 dollars a figure!" all they think is, "Good! Now how can we cut as many corners as possible and still trick you into giving us that 100 dollars."

Of course, painting the plastic isn't the only way to go. If you use better quality materials, less light will pass through it.

Those aren't the sunbow versions and even if they eventually do it will be half-assed and full of parts reuse from previous figures with too much detail to be sunbow versions. See the animated versions of marvel legends and the d&d line for how little effort they put into accuracy when its for anything other than MCU.

From what I heard if you really like Silverhawks they're about what you'd expect from Super7, although I feel like not having metallic paint apps is a missed opportunity, even if it's not vacuform chrome. The line is called Silverhawks, not Grayhawks.

I'm gonna wager a guess that there will be tons of custom repaints of these though.

The silverhawks aren't metallic in the show, and they're going for cartoon accuracy. You can be sure they'll do 'toy' versions later since they are already down to only 1 main character left, though those will just be metallic paint as S7 is incapable of chrome.

A waxy happy meal toy with undefined facial features might be acceptable for 15 dollars, but not at 55. If you're trying to cut costs then include only one head instead of three. I know this is a troll post, but in case you actually believe this, here's a comparison shot of several different He-Man Filmation figures done by Mattel/Super7.

The first is the "Ultimates" He-Man done by Super7. It has a very shiny, "waxy" look because they used cheap plastic for the skin and didn't use much paint to bring out the details. The one in the middle is the original "Classics" by Mattel. They used much superior plastic and a professional matte finish and applied paint apps where needed to bring out details in the face. The last one is the Mattel body with a custom completely painted head. I think it's the best one if your goal is to have a figure that matches the look of the cartoon. Which is the goal that Super7 is trying to achieve with these Ultimates after all. The last two figures look good, but the first one looks terrible. But it was only 29.99 at the time. Still a rip-off, but not as egregious as the $55 price point Super7 demands now.

They probably should stick to doing 80s/early 90s Disney stuff. They've already attracted an audience of 40-somthing 80s geeks with the rest of their Ultimates line, why not do Disney figures based on stuff your audience grew up with? Like The Great Mouse Detective? It's obscure, sure, but I know the He-Man/TMNT crowd would be more interested in that than The Rescuers.

Exactly. Honestly, I don't think they will still be in business in 3 years. If they are, they'll have shifted their business model away from high-end action figures. I just don't see how it's sustainable at this point. I think they had the chance to build up a large customer base when they made all these sky-high promises, but I feel they've just botched things way too often and there just isn't much faith left.

I think people are generally forgiving, especially with the nostalgia crowd. But everybody has their limits.

The sad thing is, I don't even want them to go out of business because I'm genuinely interested in their product. At least in theory. If their figures looked at least remotely as good as their renders I wouldn't take any issue with them.

If they keep having to cancel lines they won't be much longer. Mattel took MOTU back, Playmates bullied them out of TMNT, Super7's rising star got kneecapped real hard this year. They'll be back to a small company making vinyls in no time.

I put Classified Flint's head on an Emma Frost body and it was the most cursed thing I ever saw, I couldn't stop laughing. I should have taken a picture.

Sadly it won't fit now because I had to put some hotglue in the head to make it fit the body I was swapping it onto. Bilbo's head still fits on Emma's body though and it looks almost as cursed.

The only "vehicle" they've put out that I'm aware of is the woodsman with the dog sled for their GI Joe series. Which is a nice set, but it's not on the same level as getting a Back to the Future DaLorean or KITT from Knight Rider.

Everyone crying otherwise, try finding vintage figures such as ROTJ Luke Jedi or the Emperor where the paint hasn't rubbed off their nose. Plenty of molded heads without the shiny plastic look too. But painted heads DO suck.

Agreed. They lied so hard about their pricing due to lack of distribution, then got into Target (pre-pandemic) and didn't change shit. They are in Target, WalMart, Best Buy, and fucking DISNEYLAND PARKS.

Disney has fucked them hard over licenses though (ha ha) and they are daily advertising that life size Sox cat from Lightyear, so I hope they lost a lot on that shit.
