>Crunchyroll, the global brand offering the ultimate anime experience, is joining forces with Jazwares, a global go-to authority on toys and collectibles, to bring fans an epic cross-category portfolio of fan favorite anime properties. The new venture will kick off with an expansive suite of consumer products celebrating fandom across 18 anime series including Attack on Titan, Chainsaw Man, JUJUTSU KAISEN, My Hero Academia, and SPY x FAMILY. >"Anime is a dynamic storytelling medium, spanning many genres from action to comedy to horror. We are so excited to work with our partners at Jazwares to deliver products that allow fans to celebrate their fandom from must-have collectibles to adorable plush, and in a wide array of categories and products that offer something for every kind of fan and demo, from kids to adults," said Anna Songco Adamian, Vice President of Global Consumer Products, Crunchyroll. >The collaboration marks Jazwares' comprehensive evolution into the anime space in multiple product categories and price points that deliver collectors and casual fans highly authentic, on-brand experiences. Featuring a vast selection of scales, characters, and series, Jazwares will focus on a "for-fans, by-fans" portfolio approach to transform favorite anime properties into authentic figures, playsets, vehicles, plush, costumes, and more. >"Jazwares continually provides a connective tissue between pop-culture, a passionate fandom and the creation of high-quality collectibles that are highly detailed sculpts and decos," said Gerhard Runken, Senior Vice President of Brand & Marketing, Jazwares. "As long-time enthusiasts of the anime phenomenon, we are proud and ready to collaborate with Crunchyroll to give fans incredible experiences with collectible figures, plush, and other surprise-and-delight moments across multiple retail channels globally." I wonder what we can expect out of this.

>>10448582 The mention of vehicles almost makes me wonder if it could be a 4" line (among other things like plush). That would kind of work with AoT as well. Also what kind of rights does Crunchyroll have over these series, can they provide adjacent licenses to master licenses, or are they actually the primary license holder in the West.

>>10448650 I'm honestly not even sure what they could do. Bandai is already doing figures for all the big Shounen series (DBZ, Demon Slayer, Bleach, One Piece, JJK, Naruto) and that "Best Action" line, or whatever its called, has done things like FMA, Cowboy Bebop, and some other stuff, and even McFarlane has done MHA, Seven Deadly Sins, OPM, etc.
There could be some overlap, and some of those could easily be done better, but I'm not sure what, beyond Shounen, you even could make figures for...and there really wouldn't be much left to cover.

I might try an attack on titan figure since I generally enjoy jazwares but I'm interested in anime any longer. If they got the trigger studios license or something I'd be excited I guess.
Anonymous
>>10448654 Honestly, if not for the mention of figures I'd have assumed this was for general merch, plush, etc. Like you said most all of the licenses seem to have been grabbed, at least for that 5-7" figure size, which is almost why I'm guessing that this could possibly be 4"? If they could make the line expansive like their Jazwares line, something like MHA in 4" could probably fill in most of the students, teachers, and villains pretty quickly, which most other companies only get out some of the main characters.

This seems promising, but the same ol series that companies are tackling or are about tackle is tiring, I would love something new or a new genre. But affordable anime action figures are a rarity. So I guess we’ll just wait and see, especially with how figures are handled

It sucks that anything popular enough to get a poorfag line already has a selection of proper collector figures.

>>10448650 I'd imagine whatever Bandai America doesn't have access to is all up for grabs for Jazwares since Crunchyroll has basically become a monopoly for anime in the west.
>>10448649 The anime flopped but apparently the manga is still a decent seller. Either way I don't really care enough to buy anything from it.
>>10448661 NTA but if they were to do a 4" AoT line then that could open up possibility for them doing the Titans all at that basic 12" scale that other companies tend to do as long as they have them enough basic articulation.

>>10448654 I feel like their biggest properties were already listed in the article. Bandai has a bunch of them snatched up, like I'm sure they would've put DBZ in the article if they had it. For the other 18 they'd probably go down the shonen ladder some more and have stuff like Fairy Tail or Black Cover.

>>10448754 Sorry chungusposter. A good portion of those series also have 1/6th figures as well. My issue was that those licenses already have a ton of figures. Hell, some already even have cheap 1/18 scale alternatives.
>>10448764 While the Chainsaw Man anime flopped saleswise it seems to have also sold a metric asston of merch and worked as an advertisement for the manga. Personally I kind of hate the series but a lot of the designs are nice enough that a cheap line containing some of the demons would probably tempt me into picking some up. Especially if they are as good as their Fortnite stuff was.

>>10448582 The only figure I would care about from a Jazwares/Crunchyroll collaboration is the Crunchyroll Mascot girl. And it's not even that I particularly like or care about her design or Crunchyroll itself. I just like obscure anime waifu mascot characters. They're usually both visually distinct yet super generic, which as far as figures go, I'm all about.

If we can get stuff in 1:18 scale, I'm actually kind of hype! Especially stuff like attack on titan. We most likely won't ever see generic titans, but an armored Titan in 1:18 scale would be bitchin'. Anybody remember those god awful 3' tall star wars toys that nobody bought? Imagine wall and colossal titans instead! And then for authenticity encase them in concrete lmao. A Sasuke with susanoo would be pretty cool, too (I'd prefer the incomplete versions, like in his Itachi fight). As long as they keep sexy characters sexy, I think the line could do pretty well.
