Other than "make them buy everything twice" what was Mattel rational for having two lines?

I guess some of the Masterverse ones could be to help people who missed out on Classic (like Fisto) or correct mistakes (like Frosta).

Covering all bases.
Origins looks accurate to vintage and for first couple of years retained most vintage features, but on the flipside have relatively limited articulation, simplified sculpts, and less paint.

Masterverse was the line for the more "adult collectors". No features at all, takes more chances with character designs, but you get better sculpts, more paint apps and much better articulation.
There's little reason to complain if you do both options. Something for everyone.

It's mostly a money/space thing. Mixed in with it's annoying that some characters I want are currently MV only.

I also let my kids play with my motu stuff and MV isn't as kid friendly.

But after the first couple waves of Revelations designs I've been picking up more MV and really satisfied with them.

I used to follow this one guy who was reviewing every issue of the UK Transformers comic because he went into depth on all the content that a lot of the scans didn't even have, like letters pages and backup comics, but he started turning into an unhinged leftoid like this with increasingly absurd rants that had absolutely nothing to do with the fucking comic and I forget what exactly made me tune out but I do know I never made it to his coverage of the final issue.

Im shocked to announce that there actually is though. My stepbrother is 8 and was just telling me the other day how excited he s for the movie and if i can buy him an Indiana jones hat for his birthday already. Thing is kid doesn't even live in the same state as I do, he of his own volition got on Disney+ and watched the first 2 movies totally by himself. kids actually do that shit. You also have to remember they don't care how bad crystal skull was, That was 10 years ago nobody who saw that when it came out is the audience for these kids toys.

What metric do you use for 'turn a profit'? Because what Wikipedia says for Budget and what it made is a complete lie. It doesn't account for marketing or the cut the cinema takes, meaning the cost is higher while the income is lower, considerably so too.

I love Masterverse, New Eternia is an exciting new part of the brand, like 200X Revised in a way, but shit doesn't really move. Regular clearances and the creates stuff doesn't have the sales velocity that Origins does.

Honestly, a toy company being IP holder isn't conducive to long running cartoons in general because the continuation of the show will ALWAYS be contingent on toy sales rather than ratings or fan acclaim. The show is just advertising to them, and they will only continuing to invest if the product moves.

My friend's kid loves the show and I'm the only one that gets him action figures for gifts and he's been taking He-Man and Skeletor everywhere with him since I got them for him for Christmas. Here is complete checklist with few notes.
A: He-Man listed in Wave 6 and He-Man with Kitty are one and the same. Dont worry about it.
B: There is one more 8'5 He-Man. At the very end they released 3 8'5 He-Men: Powers Of Grayskull (yellow translucent), repaint with gold armor slightly bluer black parts (like in last episode) and one with new armor (same He-Man that comes with Kitty/Stridor) and special sword than can expand.

But if you didn't got into 8'5 figures, I suggest skipping them. Yeah, they slightly better ariculation but they're mostly just repeats of 5'5 figures. They're not compatible with vehicles, playsets and characters choice is poor (5 He-Men, 2 Skeletors, 4 others). I mean, you can still get them but I'd say it's still full collection without them. Same as Power Sword.

Also, I'd point that that Moss Man (assuming you'll get your hands on him, he seems rare) never appeared in the show. He was only in first "Tales of Eternia" book (there were 3 overall)

Last CGI MOTU book has Zodac in it. He apparently looks a lot regular Zodak (though with white gloves like Filmation and battle staff like 200X, and throne like both) except he has "space" body like Alien X. Kinda like Eldress' hands.His past is pretty vague but apparently he's Eldress' brother.

I like the way CGI handled Teela/Sorceress/Eldress way more than any other previous continuity.
It's pretty similar to how the original minicomics did Goddess and blonde Teela, but it improved it by just having Teela actually have the Sorceress mantle from the start.

My man, thank you so much. Yea I have pretty much just been sticking to the 5.5" figures for him since he's only just about to turn 4. I figured by the time he's old enough to mess with more articulation and handle more parts, I'll just get him some figures from the Classics line since I know he's been starting to watch some of the old episodes and has a few books based on that era. Plus like you said, I wanted him to be able to mess with vehicles since he's really into that kind of stuff.

I think this massively hurt it. Killed its momentum and part 1 ended on a sour note for a lot of people who then didn't bother with part 2.

My favourite Origins toy is Kol Dar.
Yeah yeah I know hes basic but to me that just makes him seem like he could have been an early wave vintage release. I always pair him up with Masters of the WWE Hogan as a pair of bounty hunters / heroes for hire. Eternia is a big place and He-Man cant be everywhere.

Fueraza T is a pretty interesting side note to motu history. And you seem passionate enough about these that I want to see you get your wish.

I have to be honest and say that I think most of the characters themselves look pretty heinous. But that's become part of the charm. And I look out for Galaxy Hole figures and FT are a step up from a lot of them.

here's a better look at Automata. he's russia's answer to Tekno. I like to think both of them were brought to life with reverse engineered Cosmic Enforcer tech. The thing with Automata is that he's an older and clunkier effort, and it shows on the battlefield. That's also why he has the "USSR" plastered on his pec.

finally here are the recent additions. I regret not getting around to drawing a toy accurate depiction of my infector design sooner.

Top Toys' Silvar is pretty much Platino with Fisto armor and Jitsu's hand. Since everyone of these designs is wish fulfilment on my part I went wild and made Silvar into a mountain climbing Cyber-Gaucho. He makes use of Rio Blast's head, Snout Spout's arms, Webstor's armor, and Trapjaw's legs. The added gimmick here being his magnetic soles. That way you could stick him on your fridge and pretend he's scaling a mountain side. Now the reason I drew these two together is because my take on Infector was a former Fuerza T member. Silvar and him were brothers out on a mission along Argentina's remote mountainscapes when Vampiror's forces ambushed them. Silvar made it out alive but the man who would become Infector had no such luck. Instead he was abducted and taken to the Infraworld. There he was cruelly experimented on until he was little more than a frankensteinian mockery of a man. Toy wise he's a modified Trapjaw head on a Beastman torso, with standard Fuerza T legs, dressed in MAA armor.

Yeah that's always been one of the aspects I appreciate most about Fuerza T. I know some people have their gripes with it but that line's use of parts recontextualized everything. There's something about that practice that really entertains me. It breathes new life into everything you once considered familiar. Here's a profile image I made of Sauror a while ago. Acts as simple as renaming Jitsu's sword the "Infra-blade" really fill me with intrigue for these guys.

I was wondering that myself just yesterday! Knowing how popular Defenders of the Planets was in Argentina it was my idea that top toys would bootleg their beasts. As far as I know they were a generic line so its not like any legal repercussions could have followed if Top Toys took that route. Plus the variety of beasts would have been nice.

bumping with another (old) profile sheet. out of the initial batch of six I cooked up I'm especially happy with Falcao Verde for some reason. Lore wise I envisioned him being Carnivor's direct nemesis. Back when he was just an average soldier in the Brazillian army he was able to take down Carnivor alone and subsequently returned to base with his weapons and tech after Carnivor scampered off to Infraworld. The Brazillians then reverse engineered the tech and outfitted him with a super suit of his own to directly combat flying Infraworlders. He's apart of the same rival faction to Fuerza T that Automata and Golden Tiger both are.

He's the simplest of the bunch by a mile. To clarify he'd use Sy-Klone's head, a basic MOTU/Fuerza T buck, Stratos' wings and jetpack, and both Fisto's and Heman's grasping arms. I thought making him dual wield MEF's guns would make him stand out more despite his simplicity.

Even Classics was smaller than vintage. Everything else in the line scaled shit up, but the giants went from 16 inches to 12 inches.
I'd say Origins Tytus and Megator will probably be about 12 inches again in Origins, that way even if they're smaller than vintage, they'll still scale better than the Classics versions since everyone else is 6 inches tops as opposed to 7 inches

part of my head canon for the series is that fuerza t itself was assembled by NATO. Falcao, Tiger, and Automata were brought together by Brazil, China, and Russia in an alliance meant to oppose NATO's. I went with this rival faction idea because of the villains being seperated between the aracnos and scorpio teams. I also just like the idea that they're all constantly fighting one another. the idea of Destructor and Felinor being rivals is a fun one.

again that's one of fuerza t's strengths. if you want simple good versus bad you can have it, but there's also room for multi-polar warfare. Masters kind of played around with that for a while but eventually the snakemen kind of get reabsorbed into the evil warriors faction and the horde gets focused on she-ra and etheria. anyways heres my most recent piece. the only guy I wasnt able to fit in here was sauror. everyone else is present atleast.

It is quite easier to have Skeletor as the one evil leader than three factions. And it gets more complicated and confusing if you have more factions fighting. Especially if you have 2 good vs 2 evil factions that fights within. A better solution are subfactions that scheme behind the back or fight for recognition by a supreme leader or emperor.
