I chose to keep the upper and lower ends with the functioning ball sockets, removing the choker part in the middle (I kept the edge so that it didn't lose the sculpted detail and it hid the seam). Paint the bottom part if you like or just pretend the choker is just a thread or whatever.

Heres what it looks like if you chop off the section below the choker. I slipped while dremeling and sanded some of the choker off, so i just sanded the whole thing down
