BW megs is covered in rubber which makes me worry for his longevity, but other than that he's a pretty good toy. I like Kingdom magnus but there's a new studio series one coming out that will probably look nicer and have a better alt mode. If you're a fan of magnus' inner robot armor up gimmick i'd say go with him.

On another note, do some older fans of Transformers realize that Megatron's gun mode actually came right out of a 60's spy show? It's one of the surprising things I learned while cross-checking about Megatron's origins in the Micro Change line.

Something they decided they couldn't do is not something impossible to do. a quibble, but an important one.
They tend to keep decisions from the legal department their own business, these companies never, and I mean never, openly declare "here's the decision we made on a touchy subject, and why."
If there was a statement from an ex-employee or something, you could take that as potentially true.

There's no reason they would keep this secret. It's not about offending anyone. It's just erring on the side of caution in regard to toy laws. They didn't broadcast it, but when question came up about why certain toys of him weren't made or had availability issues these were the answers given.

My issue with the tank is that it doesn't seem powerful enough. Like Shockwave or Galvatron have alt modes that essentially do one thing, shoot people. (Shockwave flew in the comics but you get my point) I feel like Megs should have something that intimating.

nice transformation, I like how I didn't have to bother with the windshield or any clear parts. I guess they can afford it on these larger figures.

Be careful with the lower peg when seperating the legs. Seems really tight on mine and may or may not already have some stress marks, might be worth shaving down a touch

Yeah I can see that, doesn't bother me much but if you're trying to get as much as you can out of his shoulder articulation it can look pretty funky.
With his shoulders flat like >>10469821 I think it looks fine more or less.

Yep on his back, you don't touch it at all during the transformation which is great.

I get on deluxes they don't have the space to ignore windshields and large clear plastic portions, I just wish they could implement some workaround to limit breaking them up in the end.

it's not so much a which-ones as a when, anything made during the kung flu seems to have gotten a heavy dose of incompetence along with whatever germs your toy might have on it, and has a chance of it. but it also has a chance of being fine, at least so far. it could very well be that some of them yellow inside of 5 years or something instead of the expected 15-20

Notice that when you put the two portions together to form big Prime the front bumper of the truck kinda explodes then falls back into place. Saw it on a review too, hopefully it doesn't damage any paint doing that.

Overall tho I'm very impressed with this guy.
Only way for him to be more impressive is if you get him at a discount.

How did they make a Masterpiece scale combiner that turns into something the same size as a normal retail combiner? So if I got these train guys I would have very expensive clear plastic, robot modes that are generally bigger than typical figures, and a combiner that wouldn't be that impressive? I recently checked on my RotF Bludgeon because of tfg and his treads are fine but it was sitting on top of breakaway and melted the paint off him instead...

After asking so many people but no response I was finally able to test if Doubledealers gun/Botropolis shuttle booster fits on Optimus. Eh kinda, the end of the gun kinda hits the feet cover but it can be finagled into the hand. Just wished it sat flushed without any clearance problems.

A great thing about the feet folding in to cover the bottom of the arms is that you can keep it flipped out and attach weapons underneath it, giving Optimus underslung arm attachments.

The parts on Artfire that yellow are the white nylon and that is pretty much unavoidable. Anyways, even without yellowing, there are like 3~4 different shades of whites even if you find one that's pristine. (painted over red, painted over blue, ABS, Nylon)

Are we expecting anymore Armada universe characters after Megatron?
It would be nice if they could support them a little more since this year's commander slot is dedicated to Armada but I could also see them leaving it at just the 4 (OP, Hot Shot, Megs, Starscream). It's not terrible but would certainly be dissapointing.
If/when they get around to Energon though they would have to make more supporting characters since the main gimmick relies on combining varying TF's

If you untransform the legs/Super Mode arms back to the way it was in vehicle mode you can give him alternate combiner war hands. I would also say Blitzwing's hulk hands but I don't have him on me yet.

Another little delightful baby toy discovered today, always a fan of an original character, and especially a dinosaur we dont see often.

Dino mode is very cute, a scrungly little face that reminds me of that meme which is fun

The robot mode has a lot of charm, bright creamy orange, short and round with big broad shoulders and stumpy legs, a fun head sculpt, a cool gimmick in the fold out gun, i think he really deserved a melee weapon though, like maybe his tail shoulda been one rather than simply folding away

I always try to meat toys like this at their own level rather than extract them out to compare to mainline generations figs, and at this level hes quite enjoyable, emotes well enough and has a dynamic silhouette, again really could have used a thigh swivel and ball joint dino head but otherwise a fun cheap figure

Optimus Prime and Menasor. Wasn't a fan of it at first but I'm slowly coming around to the fact Optimus Prime Super Mode should stand only a head shorter than Menasor. He only needs himself and his trailer to combine while Motomaster needs his trailer and his four other Stunticon lackeys to do the job. I'd say they're worthy of being cross-dimensional rivals, Optimus being able to go toe to toe with G1 Combiners and ends up fighting the bot with a similar alt mode.

Why not? The Kingdom version's vehicle is awful and the robot mode suffers from having to include an inner robot wearing the vehicle mode as armor. A SS86 Commander would ignore the inner robot and put all the engineering into a good vehicle mode properly transforming into Magnus.

Whelp, I got my figures from the hasbropulse sale in, and Battletrap actually kind of sucks. That truck mode is really small and dinky, and doesn't want to hold together either. Really disappointing overall. Cheetor is cool though, lots of articulation.

CHUG is a convenient shorthand for toylines mainly dedicated to updating old characters, based on the four toylines that started it all.
And it's not a special, in-between release anymore, it's THE mainline now that Generations became a whole brand unto itself.

Okay, but like >>10471426 said. They're both considered CHUG because they're modern updates to G1 Sunstreaker. There's an evolution in the aesthetic because of the passage of time and toy technology, just like the early G1 figures are different than the later ones, but not enough of a difference to consider them different "lines" It's not like one is Bay style and the other looks like a Cyberverse character.

On a generations scale, they'd be deluxes easily.
With Japanese G1 in general, you have to kind say fuck it. If Hasbro followed Victory's scale, the micromasters like Holi would be deluxes and Victory Saber would be as big as a titan.

The shoulders are mistransformed but the feet are where it's let down. Legs are hollow from some angles and the tiny feet have almost no heels. His greatness is his head and torso transformation, but the lower you go on the toy the more let down you get. Also he's another of the era of "shit just slap a big chunky panel onto the arms".

They don’t have the bells and whistles of your Legacy shit but they’re chonk, have no translucent plastic, solid gimmick and most importantly, the War Within/Stormbringer/Cybertron mode IDW Prime how has a figure.

energon/superlink is objectively a sequel to armada by plot, but the characterisations for the handful of returning named characters are so different you can take or leave the continuity and watch it on its own.
cybertron was developed as it's own show in japan as galaxy force, but hasbro and (later takara) branded it as a continuation after energon. but then if you actually watch it none of the continuity lines up with the previous two shows besides the existence of mini-cons (in itself just a play pattern thing since they were still being sold as toys)
as toys there is definitely a continuity between the lines as time went on, but for the shows you can watch them and not really care one way or the other

Armada/Micron Densetsu and Energon/Superlink are in one continuity, the latter is the sequel to the former. The Sunstreaker you are thinking of was a RID Car Brothers repaint that was a Botcon exclusive that was given out if you got a room at a hotel where said Botcon was being held at. It was the first new Sunstreaker figure ever made and worse, came out around the time that it was noted that Sunstreaker's mold was lost forever meaning it couldn't get reissued.

Star Saber, and Victory Saber who just has elevator shoes, is supposed to be as big as a combiner. But combiners are obviously never as big in toy form as they are in fiction, so Haslab Saber is roughly ok at CHUG scale. Victory Leo is too short compared to Star Saber but that was necessary for the toy to combine.
Haslab Deathsaurus is actually too big. They made him the height of Victory Saber when he was shorter than that, he should be around Star Saber's height without the elevator shoes.

Saber should be a small deluxe, MP is also way too big and the size of the Brainmaster is meaningless because it never appeared separately in the show outside of transformation sequences.
