Should i invest in sealed bionicle?

Had these for a few years, and bought the black one for 27$. Checked ebay and its 45$.

My mom bought kopaka for my birthday but i had all of the toa, so i never opened.

Is bionicle going to go through black lotus-like inflation?

I wouldn't say Bionicle is a great investment vehicle, and that's as someone who resells it. You're only going to get decent money for sealed sets, and those are for the collectors who really want it, which will likely be few and far between.
As for $80 on Kopaka, G2 was such a blip for Lego in terms of availability and sales that the sets are increasingly rare on the market, especially sealed. Doubly so for the 2016 sets. Hell, those are probably the best "investments" as far as sealed goes, outside of 2001 sets and any possible titans or mask packs.

Flipping sealed sets can sell for a higher price but they're going to be harder to get for a cheap price. Flipping loose/assembled/opened stuff is easier to flip, usually can be sourced for a cheap price in bulk lots, but is labor intensive and time consuming. The sealed sets worth investing in are already expensive as shit and it's a gamble to guess whether it'll increase in value over a set period of time significantly enough to justify investing in it.

It's a different beast from other lego investing. I would say that the majority of profit is from used lots that you'll find locally, not from buying sealed sets. Sealed will probably remain valuable but I don't think it will prove profitable. With other lego, you can buy new sealed sets during clearances but that's not an option for Bionicle, so you're too late to the party.

Bionicle is a peculiar beast because it is iconic for a very narrow band of Millenials and Gen Z. Much of it's appeal relied on digital media and advertising that will not ever be accessible to newcomers. I imagine that 2000s nostalgia will swing around towards it again soon, but there is truly no opportunity for Fandom growth. Demand will probably stay the same unless Lego announces a Gen 3 that exists in or references the old Gen 1 canon. It should also be noted that the fandom is experimenting heavily with 3d printing replacement parts, which could actually damage the resale market as tech improves.

Gen 2 is only valuable because it sold so poorly and piques interest from G1 collectors seeking to own everything, not because there's any desire for it in it's own right.

Pohatu was a 15$ set and kopaka 20$. Having all of them, the 3 20$ sets are alot better. The best one is onua. The only 8/10+ 15$ set is gali. The rest are 7/10. Kopaka is 9/10, and tahu is 8/10. Onua is 10/10
