To start us off, does anyone know why the JNR D51 class seems so popular for toys? Off the top of my head, Machine Robo Steam Robo/Gobots Loco and Transformers Astrotrain both turned into one, and I'm pretty sure there were some others. Are the trains especially iconic in Japan? I know they love their railways anyway, but this particular model seems to be especially well-repped.
