Moving a Large Toy Collection

No.10489408 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
AAlright /toy/ so I am in the process of buying a house and will be moving homes in a few months. I have room in my house that is my home office where I keep my PC, a worktable, and all my nerd stuff including about 2 dozen or so shelves full of toys. The idea of moving my collection is stressing me out way more than it should be. Between losing accessories, having toys break, and worrying about my shelving not being damaged, is giving me way more anxiety than it should. I plan on using movers to move my shit, so they would be handling moving my furniture and most boxes. I'd probably be too anal about the boxes that contain my actual toy collection so I'd probably handle moving those as well as my PC and 3D printer and other things like that myself.

Do you guys have any advice as to how to best move a large toy collection? I still have the boxes for all my imports, I saved them for this exact situation, so I plan to repackage the figures themselves into their boxes. I store all my accessories in tackle boxes so I'll just box up those together. What should I do about my domestic figures though? I have several tubs worth of figures that I don't display all the time, so I'd assume I can just transport those as is, but as for the stuff I have on display, and care about just a little more, how should i transport them? Previously, when I had only like a box worth of toys, I just wrapped them up individually in tissue paper, and stakced them all in a box with big guys on the bottom and smaller guys on top. It was fine, but I have so much more now that I feel I need to rethink my strategy. Any advice would be great!
