>>10515596It did a good job of trying to reset the franchise after girlbusters, and actually made an effort to respect the original rather than be better than it or be ALL NEW ALL DIFFERENT REBOOT. I mean, there are a lot of mis-steps and some of the character motivations don't make sense, like no one believing Egon, the falling out the originals had, actual proven ghost invasion of new york being obscure youtube bait... but it was otherwise respectful and the fanbase really wanted to move on so it works out.
I personally found Lucky and Trevor insufferable and podcast was tolerable in short bursts, but Phoebe surprisingly didn't piss me off and the actor did a good job being the quirky nerd kid.
Hopefully we don't need two random teens in the next one whose only contribution to the plot is "I know how to drive / I was in stranger things"

It also doesn't always need to be a global threat.I feel like Wat would be a perfect fit, a local badass haunting with lots of attracting lesser spooks, a bit of bodysnatching style stuff, and it has a who's-on-first style name custom-built for Phoebe's love of shitty puns.
Of course, in reality, they're probably going to find a new painting of Vigo a week before the planets align.
