Why is the West so far behind on toy engineering? Seems like Hasbro was allergic to balljoints for waists until Classified, and we are just now starting to see Western lines without visible hinge pegs. And even the few truly "collector-based" lines in the West keep dropping the ball; Loose Collector are barely above Marvel Legends in articulation, Mezco charges premium prices for reused bodies with overscale softgoods costumes, 4H apparentlyy spent all their budget on the (admittedly gorgeous) paint, leaving their toys with single knees and elbows, etc. Pic related, meanwhile, is 10 years old and still BTFOs a lot of modern toys. I'm wondering if Western toy companies have a similar nepotism problem to Western media with people getting in based on who they know rather than actual talent.
