Toxitron wave should be hitting here soon too. Looking forward to them as well but I probably don't need all these remoulds.
Will pick up Toxitron, Sideswipe and Dead End and see if I can wait on the rest. On the fence about adding Mirage to that list because the reptile decals on him are great but he really needed more.

I've yet to take pics of the altmode but I think that's how I prefer him.
He does the Earthrise Starscream transformation scheme much, much better and it has a solid feel in-hand. Not hefty but solid.

I got him for $10 less than RRP here and I'm content with him so if you can get him for the equivalent or even less I think that's a fair price.
Shouldn't be a problem seeing as he's shelfwarming a bit, or at least in aus he is.

Superion doesn't transform the same way in the show of attaching planes over a frame. I'm not even sure how you would approach designing it since Concordes don't really carry around things like trailers.

Neither does Menasor but the end result still looks like cars slapped onto the frame, same for Superion but with planes. And Silverbolt could just come with a big launch pad that forms the frame for Superion.

Deluxe budget too small, please understand.
The fact that this had to be an SDCC exclusive pack pretty much confirms no UT character at retail will come with a minicon. Only hope is for a separate core class release.

Optimus ought to be way more elaborate than Tidal Wave, who'd be a big robot made of three boats you can combine into a bigger boat or slap onto Megatron. Many of Armada Tidal Wave's gimmicks were all directly meant for minicons, so they'll likely be cut.

After a bit of a cross-country misadventure, Nemesis has finally arrived! She's a big girl, too big for my usual backdrop, so these first few images are her on my kitchen floor inside the big box she came in. It's a bit bland, but whatever.
First up: ship mode, the way most people know her. Nemesis' giant rear stabilizer fin does indeed split so you can sit her flat on a surface (and she's fairly stable), but I wanted to show her off in full flight configuration, hence the awkward stack of plastic cubes under her front end here. All six of her gun batteries, along with her four Seekers, come attached to a single model sprue, so you'll need to break out the nippers and file away those unsightly leftover nubs, first. The battery on the top of her bridge as well as the three on top of her nosecone all have a decent range of moti0on, but the two side turrets are more or less fixed in place due to the sockets they slide into. Like Ark, she has a rear hatch that you can open up, as well as two thinner hatches on her sides (which you can somewhat make out here); all three openings have A.I.R. Lock attachment points, so you can link her to you various bases when she's lower to the ground in her 'landing' configuration.

A close-up of her bridge section, with one turret removed to show off the 5mm attachment point; you can thoretically plug anything in these holes if you feel she needs some bigger guns; sadly, there is no visible place underneath her fuselage to attach anything to replicate her missing main cannon from Beast Wars, which is a shame.
The comms tower on top of the bridge is removable and also attached with a 5mm peg, so there's that, too. The actual bridge is molded in transparent red plastic and has some fancy latticework goign across it, and her forward deck (which becomes her breastplate) has some nice red and lavender details on it that help break up her overall deep purple color.

Robot mode, what everybody wanted to see. Her transformation is definitely more in-depth than Ark's, and she's got some more nice red and lavended coloration visible in this mode. Her body seems to indeed have been made with hunching in mind - her neck, the ship's bridge on her back, and her 'wings' are all slotetd in at an angle, meaning you have to lean her forward to make them look level; her head also has the ability to look up, unlike Ark. Her shoulder placement is a little awkward, being almost level with her head, but she's got some good range of motion even with those massive pointy pauldrons (though you have to angle her back wings a bit to give them clearance). her hands are sadly as much of a disappointment as Ark's - the fingers and thumb close inwards, but there's really not much articulation there, and I'm expecting soemone to come up with an upgrade kit like Ark's that'll replace them; they do, however, have holes and a tab in each palm that allow her to hold her weapons. Her hatchets detach from her shoudler pads and use the tabs, while ehr blasters separate from her knees and slot into the holes. I've accidentally mistransformed her right knee/gun here (the flaps are supposed to be folded back to make them jut out less obtrusively), but her left one (in gun mode) is correct. Her face mask gimmick isn't all that impressive, and it's a bit unnecessary, since she really doesn't even seem to have a mouth to protect (just a bunch of vague panel lines). Oh, she does have some cool lightpiping for her eyes, so there's that.

A close-up of her side hatches, which are on her forearms in robot mode; the hatches have a deployable launch pad with tiny pegs that plug into her mini Seekers, which can be stored safely inside for deployment whenever she needs them. The Seekers themselves are unpainted (I'll have to fix that later), but they use Thrust's and Ramjet's distinctive molds for two, and a generic F-15 and Tetrajet for the other pair.

Closing with a shot of her and Ark (with his upgrade kit). Overall, she definitely looks a whole lot better with a bit of a hunch, but she still comes off as a bit weird and gangly; it defintely looks like they initially wanted to do something a bit more beastly with her and ended up going for a more generic robot, but she's still fun in her own way and is a bit mroe visually impressive than Ark. Actually, she's an improvement over Ark in a lot of ways, havign actual weapons and not needing to make compromises for a chest-robot like Ark did. There's still room for improvement, but she's really not that bad, and certainly feels like a much better toy overall than Ark is (though that's not really a high bar to surpass).
I know people were pretty curious about her, so if there's anything else you want to see, feel free to ask and I'll get more pics of her when I get back from work.

They weren't compromised by being proper Magnuses, they were compromised by Hasbro's incompetence and being the wrong budget class. Star Saber and Motormaster show that commander class can do a good Ultra Magnus complete with core robot. And yet SS86 has issues even while missing his core robot, even though the budget is much higher than the Siege and ER figures. The white Prime isn't the problem, Hasbro is.

Assuming the armor worked like WFC, it wouldn't have been too bad. It's really just a matter of improving the core bot and the rest follows.
One of the problems with Kingdom was that it was a retool of Siege which itself was partially based on the RID01 design, so the trailer just didn't match.

Pretty weak year overall with exception to Armada Prime and Megatron. Most of the exclusives are boring save for Nova Prime. ROTB stuff in Studio Series is underwhelming since most of them are inaccurate and the movie itself not being all that good kills the hype in getting any of these characters. SS86 only reason to exists now is to redo all the G1 characters that got shit figures made during WFC.

Same situation for Armada Meg's and Prime. They're gonna have to make a 5mm-Minicon port adapter since they've gone too far along thinking they weren't making any minicons, now key figures are missing the ports.

Because they could've done it good this time? Like Christ, all it needs is to be a cab robot that folds into a box and fits into the torso, then everything else is done with the trailer as the body. You sacrifice literally nothing and tooners can completely ignore the cab bot mode if they'd like, but it adds more of a playfactor so the toy is more fun. We've only ever had 2 armor Magnus molds: G1, and Siege (Kingdom was a lazy retool of Siege).
As for cartoon accurate Magnus, we've had...also 2: MP and SS86 (CW/LG makes 3 if you want to count that) (also not counting stuff like Titanium Magnus, that'd be mean).
So by technicality, in terms of modern Generations G1 Ultra Magnus, both sides are pretty equal.

That's a cope, Nightbird was likely designed way before her VA was cast. She just suffers from her design having a hood chest, it limits the torso to being wide. Thhe rest of her body is slim though, it's literally just the torso throwing people off. If it helps though, you can interpret her hood chest as a large cup size lol.

The brown doesn't bother me, it's a nice copper in hand and mixes well with the black. Sure I wish she had more of the dark colors but now that we've seen how much of a mess the back is on the SS, I'll probably buy one of the Asia single releases for a second sword and to paint it

How's the CW Magnus? I'm considering the Legends one since I like what it does with the all-in-one transformation a lot more than this 86 one. I had the Takara Ginrai from the mold for a while, but Magnus seems more solid since it doesn't have the feet issues.

It even has the same plot as the other Bay movies with ancient Transformers on Earth and they're either looking for, want to build, or protecting a super MacGuffin that could help the Cybertronians but will destroy the Earth in some way, so they have to make the ultimate sacrifice and destroy it.
I don't even necessarily hate the idea of reusing shit like secret, powerful MacGuffins, it is intrinsic to the franchise, the trope does tend to be very toyetic, so I get it, but the specific way they go about it is still very much like the other TF movies.

The classics is a deluxe with clunky engineering and this is coming from someone that likes the Classics version.
The voyager took that and didn't really make any actual improvements to the transformation (especially adding a waist which should be mandatory when buying a $30+ figure). The wings fall off constantly, They look way too blocky and fat in robot mode (especially the coneheads) and the chest never feels like it ever locks in properly.
Even the guys that designed it don't like it and admit that it much like a lot of ER was a rushjob.
The Tetrajet Seeker may be a shellformer but at least it presents well

Also also, the screw that holds the gray ratchet wheel that holds one of the wings pulled straight out of its hole when I tried to detach the wing. Had to replace it with a slightly larger screw with larger threads.

This is my legit question. Even with all of its imperfections and worse articulation, the CW Magnus just looks like a cooler toy, especially in alt mode.

Yeah, but it looks better. Especially the Delta Magnus repaint because it wasn't beholden to the bland-ass cartoon paintjob.

And really, I've yet to see any photos that show SS Magnus can pose any better. It looks like it's going to have a lot of the same limitations simply due to the fact that it has the same basic transformation and proportions.
