I haven't been around long enough for that. The only exposure to Transformers I had was Beast Wars (both the show and toys) as a child; I only started collecting around Siege. I'm used to having toys like Basic Terrorsaur and Rattrap right alongside Ultra Optimus Primal and Megatron, so the size thing isn't really an issue for me even if it's not show accurate. Considering I've never even seen G1 or any of the newer shows after BW/BM, most of the characters I've been seeing and collecting are literal whos to me - I have no idea who they are or how big/small they're supposed to be, and I honestly don't care. I buy characters that look interesting and either have fun transformation schemes or alt modes, so it honestly doesn't even matter if the character looks like the dude with the same name from the decades-outdated TV show I never watched, just as long as they're a fun figure
the scale and show accuracy aren't really a factor in my buying process, and never were.
But you, on the other hand - you can't even seem to enjoy something if it's not a 100% accurate representation of an ancient cartoon that everyone here seems to agree was already rife with animation errors and size issues; at what point did this hobby stop being about having something cool and fun to fiddle around with and start being about needing 1:1 accuracy no matter how many compromises have to be made? You're the one that's truly mindbroken here - stop going down a checklist and just get the shit that's fun, dude.

I was able to find Grimlock and only Grimlock. Color wise he makes me think of Velveeta cheese. The stripes are nice and metallic and it's a damn crime it's only on his tail and nowhere else.

Generations Deep Cover and Scraphook.
Latter was a recent addition back in May.

I've missed a shit ton of news for new releases, but looking at them, they're all kinda ass. Save for Nemesis and the SG Rodimus Sideswipe two-pack. I hope they manage to fix the shitty durability of the pipes on the SS86 mold they're reusing.

This is my favorite mode, I love how they innovated from the original by incorporating the staff splitting in two.

That worker mode was my also my favorite on the original as a kid...I would play that Prime and the other Autobots were looking for the planet key and the leader of the place, and they see Metroplex in his work mode, but they think that he's just some kind of worker drone, and then BAM, he fucking unfurls into the long legged pissed off puerto rican we all know and love before their very eyes, and is all like "you rang, bitch?"

Then my cat would hop up on the table where all of this was taking place and knock all my figures over. Good times.

Don't worry, I got the box set a few years ago and Motor Master is the worst of the group. The automorph gimmick is cool In concept but it leads to the waist being stupidly loose. It's a shame that this remake is going to be a complete redesign because TFA prime genuinely needs to be improved. The only good mold is the deluxe

does anyone else kinda like hasbros shit qc? im not trying to be a shill and pretend its good that your gambling everytime you buy a toy now, its not, but i like fucking around with my figures like sid from toy story to fix shit, its fun in like a model kit kinda way ish maybe. i had to cut exess plastic from the inside of legacy blitzwings leg and kingdom megatrons weird rubber flaps for them to have proper clearence, and the cape of my spoiler nemeis prime had one of the joints on backwards so i had to remove the pin and flip it around the right way then hammer it back in. ive had tabs/hinges snap on me a few times which is objectively gay as shit i wont even pretend to like that, but shit like what i said i did its weirdly fun. maybe im just autistic idfk

Was it the one for the roof/backpack? That came flipped on mine as well. All that work to make sure it worked properly and prevent any scratches from appearing from the procedure, only for the fucker to yellow 6 months later.

I will admit that the lackluster paint apps have gotten me into customizing in a way that... sort of feels good? I mean I've definitely hit a skill wall, I can't do the fine details and I don't have the time or patience to apply really thin coats, but once it's all spray-sealed in and reassembled, it... just feels satisfying. like 'i did this'
my mom thinks it's super cool, which doesn't help, but I can't exactly hide it when I have to take the shits outside to spray the noxious chemicals.

Doing a small review of the Orion/Shockwave set. I only own this because amazon refunded me my order after it got delayed several tines, only for them to ship me the wrong item.

Orion: pretty much just Siege Hound without the rocket launcher. Paint's good(both the blue and red are vibrant so he stands out), but the helmet has a notable bump on the bib and it annoys me greatly. The vehicle mode also struggles to stay together, unlike hound, the connections at the side cone undone very easily.

Shockwave: I honestly just find it boring. The remolding is nice, but the colors are meh and the painted thighs are terrible since just spreading the legs into an A stance runs the risk of paint chipping, while transforming to vehicle mode runs the risk of chipping the corners of the the thigh. It doesn't help that one thigh has overspray and runny paint. Even after being careful with mine, I noticed transforming it back from vehicle mode that a tiny blue paint chip formed on the left thigh. Honestly the white paint barely feels like it adheres to the plastic.

Probably my biggest beef with the post trilogy movies is that the shrinking, though cartoon accurate, really takes me out of the immersion/expectations the other movies set. Lockdown used to be the worst offender too.

Just comparing him to Armada Megs, it feels like TMII's concept is more "complete" in his Legacy figure over Armada Meg's.

From my childhood memory he had a way to move his neck and wings by pressing a button and a third 'vehicle' mode like Transmetal 1s. I think he might have had missiles in his helmet but I might be thinking of someone else. And he has an orb thing with a cockpit in it. Japanese toy actually had a little dude in it. I see, while those sound like neat gimmicks they are obviously secondary to the fact that Megatron being a cool dragon would be the main draw for kids.
This helps the Legacy adaptation because he is still a cool dragon.

Legacy Armada Megatron is a great adaptation but minicons were very much a primary component of Armada's appeal, so as long as they do Armada adaptations minus minicons they'll always feel incomplete.
Good thing they seemed to realised their mistake and are course-correcting.

Apologies for the photo spam, I just had a ton of fun posing this guy.

Haven't had him for very long but I genuinely have no complaints.
I like his transformation, robot mode, alt mode and he has a great fireblast/breath effect. Its meh as a club but of course it is.

As long as the Minicon is released then it's a nonissue. I am not defending Hasbro, I've come to terms that Hasbro clearly have issues with budget nowadays compared to back then. After seeing Pointblank and Needlenose's Targetmaster it's probably for the best the Minicons were excluded for now. Jolt right now is easily equal in value to the 2 Micromaster packs from Siege.

Thanks anon I appreciate it, I'm really enjoying him and would recommend him with what I've seen so far.
However, as I mentioned earlier I don't know much about BW so I don't have many beast transformers to compare him to. So if you already have something that fills that role in your collection that you're happy with, then that's always cool too.

Something to consider is that he should hang around on shelves since he's gotten a package refresh, so if you find you're still interested you shouldn't have any problems finding him on sale.

Yeah, it's fairly disappointing we didn't get even half of his gimmicks.

The head claws is fair enough since it'd most likely kill head articulation or make his head too large.
But they couldn't even bother including some flip-out ports?

I suspect the knife might've been a weird censorship thing. they got as far as molding the hand but dropped the knife, even as just a separate accessory.

Fair enough on deluxe class figures but on voyagers or at the very least leaders, minicons should be within the budget.

Nah, we just got a Earthspark deluxe with two knives so it's not censorship, they just didn't include one because they're idiots. The knife hand already looks weird because they have it midly opened, so it ended uptoo small compared to the right hand since it still needs to fit inside the arm for the gimmick

Some of the third modes were complete afterthoughts. Dragon Megs was guilty of it, and I didn't care for the skates in his transmetal form (his VTOL thrusters were cool though). Not a big deal to lose that mode.

I had the og armada hot shot (both normal and powerlinx) so this is very nostolgic to me. sadly they have a lot of broken/missing parts.
some things to note: legacy PL hot shot has that black arrow painted on the roof, the original didnt have that (though I wish it did). it does carry over not painting the engine guns exhaust pipes, though.
also the og mold couldnt hold his own gun kek. it was jolt who could hold it (in fact he could equip it in both rm and vm). I wonder if they brought this over, but I doubt it.

It's all personal preference of course but for me the Legacy set is far better than CW. There were some okay individual Stunticons but none of them were especially great for the time and certainly not by todays standards, though it could definitely be argued the plastic quality was better back then. CW Motormaster though was a clumsy mess of a combiner. Legacy Menasor having the limbs plug into a frame isn't for everyone but it makes dame sight more stable combiner than CW did.
I would love to see more combiners in the future but I think the way the Stunticons combine should be left to that team.

CW Stunticons are to Legacy Stunticons what Classics Optimus is to WFC Prime, they lack modern articulation and aren't cartoon accurate but moder interpretations of the character, their transformations are way simpler, but also more fun to switch between modes. I really love the new menasor set, the cw one was so bad imo that i even passed it at the time, i have the cw g2 superion set and the defensor set and both are pretty flaky in retrospect, not so bad that i would be butthurt if they never got revisited, i still want to track down that huge upgrade set for defensor, but if they revealed more combiners of the same quality as menasor id probably upgrade.

My BA seems to enjoy running around topless, since the thing keeps sliding off whenever I try to pose her (though it thankfully stays put when she's sitting idle). Really love the shiny metallic paint - seems like it'll be less prone to flaking the way the old vacmetal stuff did, and it just looks great in general; I wish they had done TM2 Megatron with something similar.

Depends on the surface, I could pull some dybamic poses out of the set even before getting its upgrades.

On Defensor? yeah, you had to hold the shoulder with one hand while rotating the arm with the other.

Happen to me once, just had to tighten the forearm screws.

That was a design flaw, they did it thinking it would allow foward and backwards tilt. TCW did far better ratcheted feet.

Superion was the best of the CW teams IMO. The mostly symmetrical limbs help a lot but most importantly Silverbolt just made a really solid torso. My only complaint with it was the skinny thighs, but even that was easily fixed by pegging the double barrel guns onto them (provided you bought a second Skydive or Air Raid so the guns matched)
I selfishly want the Aerialbots to be the next team we get in Legacy, even though they're the team that need it least.

Bruticus was okay if you mistransformed him but 3/5 of the team were an absolute trainwreck and even the decent toys weren't especially good for the characters.
Onslaught had a great bot mod but a nothing alt mode
Brawl was one of the worst figures in the entire line, nice little tank but the transformation was terrible and the bot mode seriously compromised as a result
Vortex alt mode didn't fit the character at all and his bot mode had some of the most awkward kibble ever
Blast Off was okay, so long as you got the actual shuttle mold, but even it was compromised by trying to fit both toy and cartoon bot mode options into the one figure
Swindle was also a decent enough figure but he was uncharacteristically the largest character next to Onslaught

I'd love to see HasTak try and replicate what a bunch 3rd party companies have done with their Combaticons, where Brawl is the biggest and Swindle the smallest but they end up the same size in leg mode.

To each their own but for me, Computron was surprisingly good for a bunch of retools but still second to Superion. Bad molds like Breakdown and Brawl hurt either version and IMO all the retools were worse than the original. It really bugged me that Scattershot/Computron didn't have the cannon behind their head, that's an integral part of their design and I really wish HasTak could have worked that into the Silverbolt retool somehow.

Legacy Armada Starscream really suffers from terrible QC (unfixable loose joints, cheap plastic), lacking paint apps, and terrible weapons. Also no wrist articulation despite being a sword wielder. If you have the T30, honestly no big reason to "upgrade" unless it's a big sale. He doesn't even have a Micron peg or 5mm hole on his back, let alone ROOM for a potential micron if they eventually ever make a Swindle.
The positives of the Legacy one are the larger size (better scale), and more anime-accurate mold.

Did you get the package refresh version(I think it's part of Legacy Evolution) or the original release? That could explain it, although it would be an odd change.

Personally I'm not one for upgrades but I can understand it more when you already have a great base figure and with some slight upgrades you can turn it into the definitive representation of the character/toy in your collection.

I'm 95% sure the transparent head piece was from the original toy, and in the show he had either a solid red piece or it was part red part transparent, meaning i'll have to bust out my paints.

That was a bit different, though - the original had a purple chestplate, with the red bra that had 'nipples' on it underneath; the purple plate came off, but the red bra was not removable. While I never owned the original, I know most people displayed her without the purple plate because that's how she looked on the show. Metal Spider goes for the same look, excluding the purple chestplate entirely and using the red bra (minus the nipples) as her default top to match her Beast Wars look...but now THAT bra comes off and exposes her bare spider titties underneath, which WASN'T a thing before. If it was intended to be a homage to the original toy, then they made the wrong piece removable.

Yeah, mine is the package refresh, and he's only got a light, gradient bit of purple at the center near his orb/spark cockpit thing; the rest of him is unpainted red. Actually, ALL of his purple is like that - sparse, looks like it was lightly airbrushed on, and not at all glossy like yours in your pic. Seems like a bit weird for a running change, but that's how every other pic of TM2 Megatron that I've seen so far looks as well - yours is the only one that has that much purple.

Yeah comparing mine to other pics, especially the official product images, it seems like they where fairly heavyhanded when it came to the purple on mine. Interesting
I think it might just be on a case by case basis. I noticed on PrimeVPrimes thumbnail for his TMII Megs review it seemed similar to mine with the abundant purple.
You can tell it's supposed to fade back into red when it gets to that waist hinge but it doesn't on mine and his, it just abruptly stops.
Perhaps the package refresh version was just a bit more consistent with the gradient application.

She has 2 screw holes under the bow, which do fit weapons, so you can put a main gun from Beast Wars on her although you have to take it from another figure and it'll be off-center. You could probably 3D-print one that fits over both screw-holes to make it centered.

Going by how colors went in past releases and the sheer size of those parts, the nose cone section, most of the back and wings could be purple, but going by red wing, the top section should be pink.

It's bundled with him because it was bundled with the original SG Sideswipe. People were complaining that Hotshot and Starscream came without their minicons, so they're giving them their minicons - in fact, Hotshot is getting a rerelease with new paint, new guns, and his missing minicon, because that's what people wanted. Starscream may end up with one later as well when he gets his inevitable repaint; we'll see what happens with Armada Galvatron, since Megatron already has a sculpted turret that essentially replaces Leader-1.

All I could really think of is a Lime Green/Dark Blue repaint of the Smokescreen mold since he's really the only one that's an interesting departure from his G1 colours.
The rest of them where meant to look like everyday cars so miss out on interesting colour schemes. You wouldn't really be able to point any out as "Oh thats an Alternators homage" with the exception of Smokescreen.

In all honesty though I would buy that "Alternators Universe" Smokescreen if it ever happened.
