6670 Rescue Rig. I was probably around 4 years old maybe (born 1989) and my Uncle gave it to me when my parents took me over to his house, first Lego set I can remember ever getting.

Not my first set, but I got the 2004 rerelease that they did of it with the light-up lightsaber Vader and no stand. Pretty sweet Vader fig though, wish I hadn't broken it trying to replace the battery.

And i have rrally mixed feelings...
I really wanted to love this theme. But more and more I build I see a lot of problems.
The set itself are cool and love all art in instructions. However I do have a feeling choose your adventure type of instructions is way underused. Its not helping that sets itself are WAY overdetailed and too big for most parts. Kids will struggle to rebuild and reuse them.
The show itself is also very horrible (and this comes from a guy who main interest are cartoons). Its just badly written show filled with shallow characters and with nice visuals.
The set im presentimg also has a lot of weird problems. The price is a joke (same as amazing and huge Friends Botanical Gardens but half of pieces), characters cant sit in sitting are, the down floor is only 6 bricks high (we builders all know min is 7). The deer itself should have been molded creature with new type of horns. I rebuild mine for an ostrich who looks way better.
Im looking foward what this theme will bring though ... Since with every new set come the great new pieces. And i LOVE new flame (tree) and leaf pieces and all wonderfull recolors.

Pic related was my first set, back then Starwars was all the craze. I still remember it for what it was, not what it became. Now, only my Jedi Interceptor and a couple of clones remain from that year nothing else.

I've been looking for this set for so long, granted I got the 2016 version about a year and a half ago and it's done fine. The thing is Turbo tanks are suppose to be massive in size and nothing beats the original/ 2014 one.

Thoughts on Bricks and Minifigs?

I like em ok for pick a brick and secondhand, I think. Its pretty nice and surreal to find Bionicle on a shelf and its pretty comparable to bricklink prices for a lot of those cheaper used sets when you factor shipping into it. The pick a brick is also nice cause they get lots of oddball parts from all eras.

But anything new? Terrible. Sets readily available in target or Walmart will be marked up. For cheap shit its usually only like 3 dollars too, so why even bother with a markup at this point? For expensive shit its 10 to 20 dollars when any enthusiast can find themselves these sets online at or below MSRP usually. And if its Lego Store exclusive? Fucking forget about it, Tuk Tuk is 25 when its 10 at the Lego store (there is a Lego store in the area, several actually). I can see the GWP snd Lego House shit receiving nasty markups, but the others are pure idiocy.

Im really unsure if theyre trying to be an enthusiast haven or take advantage of dumb parents. Seems like maybe both at once. Its just annoying to know I cant really pick up a modern set when I go.

Mine was probably the airport early 90s something. I didnt like lego as a kid though. I played to rough as a kid so I always broke pieces of the sets which made me hate lego. Turtles was my shit and other figures I could tape firecrackers on (figures i didnt care as much about). My favorite thing was putting 3 big firecrackers (they dont sell those anymore since the 90s here) together and make the bad guy "execute" someone... but yeah the inernational airport was my first set.

This guy was the only minifig I had for a while. I mostly kept getting those bags with generic bricks and animal printed eye pieces. I mostly built houses and vehicles with what I had so I'd hide the eye prints in the builds.

I feel like the custom pill is pretty widespread these days, isn't it? I went to brickworld chicago this year and there were tons of popular stands for custom shit. Custom minifigure arms and legs, brick tactical, and similar brands.

Everyone started with thinking LED kits for official sets were cool and it's snowballed as Lego's greed has continued. I have a little brick tactical master chief and I think he's great.

Yes, this commonly happens to me when buying sets on ebay. Its not just a 1x2 brick missing, its the 1x2 plate also. Retard sellers who don't understand Lego just build the set and say "yep, thats complete" without checking the actual part inventory. The same thing happens with the feather plumes. First off Time Twisters is kino, with great aesthetics and you are a fucking faggot. Second of all, his model is soulless and devoid of creativity, it pretty much just looks like a taller version of the original model (despite the fact he combined it with a robot). He also didn't make any effort to incorporate a mechanism into the build, which is a staple of the Time Cruiser/Twister sets. If it was just supposed to be reminiscent of the shitty throwaway models on the back of a box, then aside from the fact he shouldn't even have bothered, he should have at least stuck to legal techniques (note the technic pieces placed over studs). Also the way he stuck the cockpit piece on like a cavemen so it just hangs over the fig triggers the shit out of me.

I myself made a better Time Cruiser alternate build just using pic related in 2019. It actually looked like a legitimate set and used legal techniques. I wish I still had the pics (maybe somebody here saved them?)

Brickbuilt wouldn't be too hard. Just make them 1-2 plates thick and use cheese slopes and inverted 1x2 curves for the raised ends. Based on your current proto you may also want to shift them forward 2-3 studs so they are more under the fuselage
