Bootlegs are always "illegal" and often cheaply made. 3rd party figures are only often "illegal" but often very well made.

Yeah, usually figures are bought with clothing on it, but there are a number of customizers who sell aftermarket clothing for popular action figures on Instagram. I bought this jacket from Bestlee studios for example.

I don't have any experience making clothing myself so can't say how hard it would be to do at 1:12 scale.

Got my alien in and it already has a tiny tear near the pelvis which blows. It's not noticeable with the usual hunched look, though. Overall pretty cool. Big and imposing. I'll enjoy it until it rots like an old movie prop.
