So, according to brickclicker, space is getting focus in 2024, most likely because of the Artemis mission which is a big event, going back to the Moon after all these years.

So that's why we get so much space stuff in all these themes. Who knows what they have in store for the summer wave.

surprisingly ninjago isnt selling too much, stock is low but only because we were shipped low stock amounts this period. Sonic is shelfwarming seems to be only adults interested in it. Oh forgot to mention minecraft is selling bucketloads still

I'm fairly convinced at this point that Lego has come to the (correct) conclusion that their classic themes are actually MUCH closer in draw-power to the licensed sets than any new themes they've come up with since Ninjago.

Dreamzzz is flop city while all eyes have been on Eldorado Fortress, Blacktron Cruiser, Tahu and Takua, Lion Knights Castle, Haunted House, creator 3 in 1 Pirate Ship, Viking Ship, and Medievil castle, etc.

I'd honestly expect that the future of in-house themes is going to be sprinkling Castle/Space/Adventurers/Bionicle/etc sets across Creator, Icons, GWP, City (when applicable) and Ideas. And probably having all future "wave based" themes be the evergreen Lego themes (Ninjago, Technic, City) and new licenses (But even that is moving away from always being full themes)

Personally I think this is a great way of doing it. If my favorite themes from my youth are profitable but not "full ongoing theme" profitable than just give me 2-3 a year instead of trying to reinvent castle in some new awful way.

Bunchu and Zblob are fine and will see some sales
Grimkeeper should be 20
Flying Horse should be 30
Croc Car should be 35
Turtle Van should be 30
Shark Ship should be 120 at most but a ship with dinky shitty wings standing in for proper sails should really only be 100
Dream Village, Tree House, Stable, and Spacebus should not exist.

It's an awful awful set. A deeply unappealing theme that Lego has the gall to charge Marvel/Star Wars prices for.

The average lego consumer does not use lego how lego intends, they build them and then put them up or away, and a product centered around using Lego like Lego and being creative is doomed.

i agree with you for the most part. designing the nod vehicles (done the recon bike and buggy so far) is a lot easier on the eyes color wise as you can mix and match greys, but gdi is stuck with yellow. i know yellow and tan look god awful, but i'll see what the dark tan looks like. i tried to add as much grey as possible but there's only so much i could add lol. here's a photo from the back for now.

kinda surprises me, I'm a sonicfag and none of them seem appealing at all unless you're in it for the play features. maybe the death egg but the "capsule" is really lacking compared to the ones in-game.

Hey we got the Mars rover now at least, and it sounds like they're trying to do a few new things next year.
Still, the theme desperately needs to go beyond "cars and construction vehicles" and appeal to a wider price range again rather than a few $10 budget vehicles and a bunch of $100+ collector sets.

The main 2 kids kind of are because they're using their imagination. One of the kids just looks like a racecar driver, and the other is a blue little guy. The other kids are just kids. The mentor character has an eyepatch but otherwise just has some adventurer type garb. And then the nightmare characters are supposed to be scary, so they have all sorts of nonsense hanging off of themselves. It all kind of makes sense, at least.

thanks! as for the color scheme, are you sure you don't mean nod? in the first game, gdi uses yellow and nod uses grey/dark grey. i can put a bit more grey in the design to accent, but i would like to keep the color scheme as close as possible. i'm gonna experiment with using dark tan in there to maybe add a camo pattern or something. here's all my designs so far, i've got the recon bike, buggy, and the orca. gonna do either the humvee or light tank next. i've got the recon bike up for free on my rebrickable here:

i appreciate the compliments. i've made it a point to make them as structurally sound as i know how, reinforcing where I can. none of my builds will fall apart if you look at them, I guarantee you. as far as finnicky goes I'm not sure. the bikes fine, but the buggy and the orca might be tough. the buggy has a LOT of bars used, and could be a pain to assemble IRL. i confirm it works but it might be a pain to get them at the right angle for assembly. and the orca uses a good few stacked plates on the inside of it. however, it is all in service of structural stability and for the most part the aren't visible (those plates in the photo lead somewhere i promise).

More columns and beams my guy, the more contact points the better. Adding posts to each floor also helps. Don’t expect to be able to get away with this flat 5 stud bullshit with the rest smooth plates that allows you to take each floor apart though. Do not try to mix in technic parts if you don’t have to, a brick beam is the same as a technic one. I’m assuming you want to make the thing out of Lego bricks right? You could make a technic skeleton but technic and Normal bricks never really go together too well in my experience. (Bricks with holes in them are fine though)

I threw together a typewriter the other day but I'm not entirely happy with it. I looked up some other mocs but I don't want to just lay a bunch of loose levers in a row to simulate the keys and nothing really grabbed me.

Meh, it seems like most vintage sets have hit their plateau save for the most wanted ones like the 2011 Imperial Flagship. I think lego is waning in it's popularity for right now and wouldn't be surprised if sales are lower this year.

A 32 stud overhang would take some serious engineering to pull off successfully but it's perfectly achievable. I just you look up real building schematics for cantilever structures.

I have attached a simple drawing of what I suggest. You will need a strong core structure. From this core structure you can extend your overhangs. Use long beams for this, preferably the ones with technic holes. Support floor above with technic beams attached to lower floor, angled like this will be better for weight distribution. You will need to counterbalance your overhang regardless of how strong the core is. You can do this either by mirroring it on the other side or with weight applied to where the arrow is pointing.

if you can't figure this shout out by yourself you should stick to duplo desu

Here is basic example of mirrored building. Lowest floor will need additional reinforcement to bear the extra weight. Simple add external walls as cladding over top of the support structure.

Oh. I’ve been browsing /toy/ since HS as well. Id only check a few times a week though. /fa/ I’d check everyday/multiple times a day though to look at the what are you wearing today/waywt threads. I was really into cloths/sneakers in HS and college. I also liked lego, but I feel it wasn’t as popular back then. Nowadays lego produces so many more adult oriented sets.
