>>10575986I'm sad at how few smaller Toy Shows exist these days. As a kid me and my father would travel up and down the east coast to all the different Toy Soldier shows for him to sell his figures. While I wasn't much into the lead and toy soldier scene, there were always those few tables that had some really cool toys I was interested in.
JP Beastwars or other import anime figures, bargin boxes of old TMNT or Marvel Toy Biz stuff, G.I. Joe and Star Wars vehicles all over the place and just random items I didn't know I wanted until I passed by in a random wander through the aisles.
As I got older we'd do less "military miniature" toys shows and more "Pop culture" style shows, which I was always more interested in. But even they started falling by the wayside and eventually just dried up. There was a really fun, smaller local show I'd love going to, but they started having trouble finding a permanent venue to run it and they ended up doing their last one in 2018. Ever since then the closest things to Toy Shows I get to are general Comic and Anime cons once a year. And even then I'm buying more chachkies and knicknacks then actual toys.
Powercon is a bit out of my travel range, but I've been tempted to try and go to Toycon NJ or Legionscon, as they're both fairly close to me. But then that would require me to go to New Jersey...and I don't know if it's worth it just to buy some toys.
