Powercon fucked up real bad on shipping their exclusives, like, embarrassingly.
First the site crashed immediately and all the boomers didnt think to order from BBTS. Then they asked for what? An extra 70 dollars to ship while BBTS didn't? Then they promised they'd give exclusive trading cards to the guys who bought from Powercon. That was also a crock of shit, as my BBTS order came with the exclusive cards.
Then to add insult to injury, Mattel Creations got a random supply of the exclusives out of nowhere and that went without a hitch. That was in 2021 and we haven't had a MOTU panel at Powercon since, right?

I've said it before but Savage World suffered from coming along too early. If it had released a year or two later I have no doubt that it would have performed alot better. Even now I can vividly recall the walls of discounters and gamestops absolutely caked in their discounted thundercats and mortal kombat stock. shame about the fragility of the hip joints too. after the years of breaks and snaps that came from those t-shaped ball joint hip designs you'd think we'd have come up with something better by now. I dont understand why no designers this far have thought of imbedding the joint sockets into the bodies of these kinds of figures by now.

I've seen the typical stable diffusion "MOTU as a dark fantasy film" videos for months now but it seems nobody has thought to voice clone the filmation incarnations of He-man and Skeletor for the sake of shitposting. The earliest WWE Origins figures had some issues with the Ring set. The carded ones were better. If they hadn't made the line WM exclusive it may have done better. Same issues Superstars has now: Distribution.

Savage World looked good but those old bodies weren't doing it any favors on the Target pegs. Walked in and swooped up a lot of the Horror line, SF line, and DC line on clearance. Even the Batcave was cheap and easy to get.

does anyone else think Masters of the WWE sold better than superstars? I could rarely if ever find MotWWE figures outside of the occasional steamboat or mysterio but Im still finding RAW hogans in clearance stores while the undertaker wave warms pegs.

Adding to the Savage World discussion, were you able to snap up the Primal Age comic? I saw it once and only once at my local store and then never saw it again. There was also a tie in 100 page giant released alongside the Spinmasters line that I missed out on too. I wish somebody talked about these comics when they released.

Tiger Man makes me chuckle every time. He looks so sad/confused.

I really want a MOTU scale tiger head. I saw people use the Titus ML BAF head with pretty good results but I don't like the cybereye.

It's two fold. I think MotWWE sold better, but I think Superstars shipped out 4 times as much stock each wave. I have yet to see Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, but we have endless amounts of Ult Warrior, Undertaker, Mankind, Million Dollar Man, etc. The MotU part is what really sold it.

honestly once they were stripped of the MOTU window dressing they just became generic wrestling figures. I dont say that negatively either but I cant imagine the average MOTU fan buying any of the standard issue wrestlers for full price. Superstars as a toyline exists as custom fodder for origins. The only reason I even bought a raw Hogan was to make Platino down the road. I cant stress enough how much Im hoping the jitsu wave will go into deep discount by christmas.

same here I just wish they were in stock long enough for me to have gotten a copy. the cheapest listings for those books on ebay nowadays is 20 bucks not factoring in shipping.

A lot of Galaxy Warriors were.
Spikes, Baltard, Huk, possibly Triton just by looking like a generic black haired barbarian. Magnon was based on two characters from a painting but they changed the helmet's design.
The design of the weapons were also taken straight from Frazetta paintings.

The video you're referring to said it would be over and gone by APRIL. I just got a Snakefacs from retail yesterday. I'll be getting a Snake Mountain the same way as well.
Mattel still owns MOTU and makes the toys in 2023.
MOTU is still going to be at retail with repackaged origins figures and new filmation figures.

Someone mentioned an Iron Maiden last thread. How about an evil Iron Man-type figure? He would work the opposite way King Hiss does, he'd be a suit of armor that can "capture" heroic warriors by being worn by them. He would be a hollow suit of armor with a helmet that's iron bars. Like a walking jail cage.
His weapon would have to be chains.

The minicomic is like 7 pages so I'll make it real brief
>page 1 is Spikor being imprisoned by Serpent Tracker MAA & the Infiltrator, MAA leaves him to guard Spikor
>page 2 the Infiltrator will offer Spikor a deal to help his king conquer Eternia in exchange for his freedom, he accepts and Sssqueeze's arms are seen giving Spikor his weapon through the prison window
>page 3 is Spikor using his power to blow open the prison wall, and the 3 villains escape into the night
>page 4 MAA hears the jailbreak and pursues, capturing Sssqueeze in the process
>page 5 he tells the Infiltrator to escort him back to a cell, much to their amusement
>page 6 cuts to Spikor in a new setting bending the knee to King Hiss, but a thought bubble will inform us that he has no loyalty to anyone
>the final page, 7, sees Sssqueeze and the Infiltrator enter the setting and informing us that MAA and Randor are none the wiser, while King Hiss brandishes a Snake Ring and gloats about the plans he has for Spikor
I feel like this could inform people of the intended play pattern of the Infiltrator, characterize Spikor, and give the heroes a rare loss. I hate the actual minicomic for just being nonsense. It does nothing but make another non-toyetic snake character.

would you want anyone beyond barbie and ken? even disregarding the new film I think those two are the only truly recognizable faces from barbie as a brand. Ken-man and Barb-Ra would make for solid matty collector exclusives, but I wouldnt rush to buy them at retail. the idea is endearing though and I love the knee high sneaker-boots Ken-Man ended up with.

Even if Stratos is not objectively bad, how many Heroic Warriors can you say are worse than Stratos? I would think most folk will only be able to say one or two they like less, maybe a few could list 4 or 5, but Stratos is probably still gonna wind up on the lower end of the hero ranking.

Stratos is better than Rotar, he being half a figure, cannot balance alongside your other toys). Gwildor and Clamp Champ only have an accessory for a gimmick and Gwildor's size makes him less bang for your buck. And Strat's design is more interesting than Rokkon OR Stonedar but not both (they were always redundant with each other).

I went to target/walmart the other day while running errands and if you look at marvel legends or black series or most other 6-7in figures theyre all REALLY expensive for some reason. Like $25-$30. They had a Luke with Grogu that was like $45???

But then you go to masterverse and generally everywhere theyre like only $20 w deluxes being $32ish. Masterverse figures also come w a lot of accessories usually which makes the price feel more worth it. I look at marvel legends or black series or DC stuff and they almost never have any accessories and if they do its so lazy or they super jack the price for what should just be standard. I also notice that Masterverse figures will go on sale actually so they can put in the newer waves while i still see black series and marvel legends figures just never moving and never going on sale either so its the same handful of figures no one wants from like a year ago that are still more expensive than new masterverse figures are

I think Masterverse figueres also just look and feel nicer? I have a marvel legends figure and if i put it next to the masterverse figure it just looks/feels a lot better to mess with.

I know masterverse isnt everyones cup of tea and it has issues but im not shocked people buy them cause it doesnt feel like youre getting totally ripped off when you get them. Now if they jack up the prices I could see there being problems. I know some friends of mine who dont care about motu at all have started buying masterverse just cause theyre cheaper and feel more worth the price than like every other 6-7in figure you can buy at walmart/target

I like superstars just as much as wweternia but that's the wrestling fan nostalgia more than anything. I haven't seen waves 2 or 4 so my interest is slowly drying up despite the figures being the same quality as origins. I know I won't get some wrestlers in superstars like doink or repo man or Jerry Lawler either and that lessens my excitement. The vintage toy does not have red eyes, the soft goods on him were shit, and he has a regular human head. Nothing about the vintage reads "demon". The only arguable monster feature is the feet since the arm fins are painted such a way to be intended as "gloves" instead of fins.

Stratos is subtlety S-tier.

I'll go to bat for him. As the resident goldenbookfag, my opinion of him is mostly based on his portrayal in those books. And he's shown to be a useful, competent member of the good guys. He even gets to go on a mission with He-Man in Grayskull when Skeletor has both swords to gain access.

It's a motu meme that the good guys have air superiority and that starts with Stratos and the Wind Raider.

I think that most of the hate on here is just a /toy/ meme mixed with resentment of how mini comics version killed Motu at retail.

If I'm a fag for goldenbooks, you could probably describe me as "mini comics curious" and the real tragedy of that Stratos (and Trap Jaw) is that Mattel didn't go the extra mile and do the finishing touches to make them accurate to the comics. I doubt he would have sold any better but at least more people would defend him for being what he's supposed to me.

A Mattel should have just ripped off classics and did a MC exclusive pack of Stratos, Trap Jaw and Prince Adam.

Not entirely true. Sometimes they show him shooting lasers out of his hands while flying. Also I think in one of the mini comics or books he has a flame thrower in his gauntlet.

Also his power of flight is useful for defensive maneuvers - "In the Caverns of Fear" he swoops into save Teela from Trap-Jaw.

Also in "The Thief of Castle Grayskull" Stratos saves He-Man from falling when Skeletor lifts the castle up in a tornado. That could easily have been the end of He-Man.

What are your current motu storylines? I like to imagine that the Infiltrator, Kobra Khan, and Rattlor/Tung Lashor have each spent years slowly infiltrating the 3 other factions and are readying to strike. Beastman is way better than Stratos guys. The red with the blue on the face and trunks is striking in a way Stratos isn't, while the whole jungle bigfoot barbarian beast tamer vibe is fun. Each new rendition of Beastman has improved in different ways while Stratos has never been made better. He just keeps sucking.

I think a big reason Stratos keeps sucking is that they keep trying to make him more "human".
Beast Man they constantly push the ape aspect, Stratos constantly tones it down or removes it. They need to commit fully to "flying monkey"

After seeing TMNT Mutant Mayhem I wonder how it would look if they made motu movie like this.

I'm many ways, I feel like CGI show would be pretty close to that, there are a lot of similarities. Most notable difference is way uglier although that is very much on brand for TMNT.

I think there was a bit more focus on romance too. But other than that most differences feel like franchise differences - TMNT had uglier characters and more focus on making relatable young heroes, and Motu has a cackling hammy evil villain...But yeah, there are similarities - reimagining with a younger cast, overprotective but well-meaning dad, character designs are changed with changed races, genders and body types, there is green slime turning things into monsters and the main villain is a top-heavy blue asymmetric ugly guy, who can be funny but still smart, manipulative and deadly.[spoiler:lit] He goes trough many changes before becoming huge monster and then changing back to his original form and most minor villains reform or at least turn on him. Also the thing ends on cliffhanger with new scary villain working with previously established female villain. [/spoiler:lit]

Honestly, looking at Rey Mysterio, both of them, the problem with both Stratos visually is that the head is unappealing and there is nothing to really break up the solid grey or flesh tone. The Rey's are far more appealing toys because of the paint and Rey designs.

This is likely why Beastman works despite being near solid red, the blues and face do a good job at breaking it up. On Stratos all the colours are so dull, lifeless and drab. The blue and red blend into the grey.

So until looking into Conan, I didn't know it too had a snake themed villain in Thoth Amon and that the movie Thulsa Doom turned into a snake, both seemingly being that Conan connection to the Snake Men. I knew about proper Thulsa Doom and Conan himself being Skeletor and He-man respectively, but not that far.

I know She-ra gets called Red Sonya, but Teela is a better counterpart. Just how far does the He-man Conan connection go? Best I can. Find is those four are about it, but I may be missing something.

No detailing in the fur (similar to He-Man's hair) so just a weird barely textured ring around his head.

It's taken a while but I finally have a He-Man with all the parts I want. Every release of the vintage head up until Thunder Punch has had a weird stylization on his eyes where they twist upward on the ends making him look like an asian stereotype, and only a rare first run of the Battle Armor figure had paint on the boot straps. Mattel conned me into buying multiple He-Men to get the single figure I wanted but I'm happy with the hunt.

This is where I have a big issue when it comes to vintage/nonvintage with this change. I have zero faith in Mattel to alter their release schedule for Origins on Creations (for context, so far this year it's only been Frog Monger in Jan, He-Skeletor in April and Fangor and Slither in Aug and Sept) So it's sporadic.
Do I want to give up the opportunity keep getting stuff like Wrap Trap sprinkled in? No
But do I want to wait until 2027 or 2028 to get Saurod to accommodate lost 88 releases? Also no

If they announced that Origins on MC will be monthly or even 2 a month, I'd be more optimistic.

The way I see it, there is no way Mattel will pass up an easy mold reuse. Terroar, Gr'asp and Strobo are definites. Plasmar will need to wait for the Rio Blast arms at least. Wrap Trap has slightly less chance of being made, but Fangor sold out. If Lady Slither sells out too, they might even try to finish off those other Snakemen like Strettch Neck and Reptilax, which means we might get a Fang Man.
I hope the animated line gets Lizard Man while we are at it.

they've been on my mind since mattel first announced the vintage exclusivity crap. as soon as they began covering the 88'ers I was gung ho on completing them. Now I fear I'll get screwed out of them too. Especially since you could argue either way for unreleased concept characters. Imo they arent technically vintage since they never released and existed only as concept characters. But if Mattel smells a buck to be made I doubt they'ed care. The other thing I wonder is if any of the origins subthemes will continue or not. It would really suck if we lost out on 200X ontop of everything else.

As for the filmation line, I only really want 2 or 3 guys. Batros and Aramesh being the two that stand out most for me.

The way I see it, it's "all or nothing" when it comes to whether or not those kinds of things count as vintage. (Not gonna pick sides myself or argue against anyone for being for it or against).

But what I will say is that if you don't, then there's no reason to assume or demand that He-Ro or Terroar "deserve" to be made because they strictly aren't vintage.
If you DO, then you're obliged to be in support of other figures that "almost" happened. Case in point, over on heman.org it recently came out that James Eatock uncovered an unproduced minicomic for the Evil Robot, so it got REALLY close to release and should be included in some form, even if thry alter the design to make it original instead of a redecoed Japanese toy like the original.
You don't get to pull a "but muh parts reuse/too much tooling" to say Terroar counts as vintage but Evil Robot doesnt

So they are like third season of 200X He-Man for example. Gygor meanwhile is more like first season of 200X only this time it's written as continuation of Filmation and that weird Power Sword wade by MAA.

I think Anti-Eternia MAA and Orko would be appropriate. MAA was teased, Orko still doesnt have a second figure in line and both were in original story that introduced Anti-Eternia. I'd put them in 3-pack with Anti-Keldor.

I think it's safe to say most if not all concept characters would have been MC even if we weren't sending vintage there.
Origins wouldn't even put Wun-Dar in stores and make Grayskull exclusive to Eternia playset. You think He-Ro, Gygor or Wrap Trap would ever see retail sale?
I'm flabbergasted the Skeleton Warriors weren't MC

Yes and yes. Retailers didn't want it and idk how many Amazon ever ordered. It seems like any MCX set with Scareglow or Orko is cursed.
That's also the only way to get Wundar and Whiplash too, but they're not the most interesting figures.

I managed to get one from Amazon US when it popped up. I expect to find one badly damaged at ROSS this christmas as is tradition with MEGA. Theres got to be a pallette of it somewhere in a warehouse.

Got mine at Deep Discount before it hit Amazon.
If they sold these - and other MEGA stuff through an online store at Mattel then they would have probably did far better.
Mega's distro sucks, it's pretty much dead in the water do to sales (or lack of them) so to decisions like this.
