Any hopes/worries?
I really hope they do a bunch of unique molds for the aliens and they're not just the same uniform alien with a regular minifigure head. Something akin to Space Police III's variety would be great. Though knowing Lego they'll skimp out because it isn't STAR WARS

I had one of those Classic boxes (gears) lying around and started making a miniature. Its a nice challenge being limited by pieces and trying to make it work, there's very few plates so the underneath to make it connect is a mess

Nice mech anon. I've tried making big mechs like that, but I always run into the issue where the joints become unstable over time and it turns into a floppy mess after being on display for a few months.

Based on the leaked listings they don't sound too interesting, but I'd like to see more interesting creative sets. I don't get why the Zion (or however its spelled) set is so expensive, I'd have thought it should be a set like Z-Blob and Bunchu, and entry level set for the important characters.

Lolsorandom theme like Time Cruisers, I think they kinda tried riding the Tiktok popularity wave back when it was music-oriented also, and the blindbag doll thingies. Basically "what do kids like now: the theme" kinda like Dreamzz now (except Dreamzz has no weird tacked on gimmick)

You're not a TRVE master builder until your MOC is nothing but SNOT and smooth plates. Exposed studs, molded castle walls and any kind of baseplate make you a pleb.
As a dots and mixers builder, I went to art school. All of the lego designers in the 80s and 90s were just dumb for not making smooth organic pastel colored characters.

The word 'lolsorandom' doesn't fit VIDIYO. It wasn't some 'smash it all together and use your imagination' thing, it had a clear formula and neatly divided genres with their own style. In fact, it was void of the randomness and creativity that is supposed to be LEGO's thing. They wanted kids to keep sets whole otherwise the app wouldn't function properly, and the app itself promoted attention whoring while kids completely ignored the guidelines and straight up posted recordings of themselves or their pets. VIDIYO was fucking garbage for a lot of reasons, but randomness was not one of them.

Word. Limitation breeds creativity. Every week I make small palettes of funky parts to mess around with while I'm on the phone or doing appointments. I started counseling recently and there's one kid who demands I make two identical sets so we can compare builds and give each other's names. I saved one of the results - his name is Master Jazzercise Jackson of the Spaghettiverse.

I'm probably the only schmuck legitimately using vidiyo boxes too. I want a pair of white lids so they're easier to fit into generic color schemes.

Given the number of parts, I suppose so, especially if there isn't something other than some mini baddies. That's more the price I'd expect for the manticore, if one was made, while Zian shouldn't be much bigger, if even, than Bunchu.

they tried to chase the tiktok trend while trying to get lego free advertisement... except it was its own app, so apptax, and they did boxes on mystery figs, so shit out of the box as a new ip. While not having any actual sets until the second wave, which was dead before it was announced. But my biggest gripe, is the figures are so ALIEN to any other lego theme, they just don't fit, unless you have a furry convention in your lego city, they look way too out of place. Chima at least had a fantasy angle so you COULD throw it in as a fantasy knight theme with animal races, but still can have a similar problem

Genuinely how is there not more pushback on lego's atrocious modern print quality. The mercy head was years ago and still they do not give a single fuck. Every white, yellow / any light color on dark plastic prink looks awful now.

Jang is literally the only youtuber I've seen who has the integrity to call this out, I haven't seen a single other legotuber call it out.

But the details and pieces are literally exactly the same. Clearly he used the guys moc for reference. From the way the windows are built, color, design. I understand it’s classic haunted house, but you can build stuff out of lego a million different ways. I could build an Adam’s family style house and it would have the same look, but the small details would still come out differently

Listen, if Lego wanna hire this man right here, they would incorporate virtual space into their sets with a combination of chatgpt ai and minifig scanning. Your cam scans the minifig face and body print, and then you assign chatgpt to it to bring it to life through your phone screen. So you can chat to your pirate redbeard about hearty seachants, or my waifu hermione minifig. This could work on even old minifigs too through recognition, then you have a default townie for if it isn't recognised. Then we make a simple hack to it here to allow raunchy chatgpts so we can make johnny thunder rawdog batman with ai voice and custom animations in the app and fulfill our coomer instincts

Just subtle stuff but you should add some lone grass stems here and there or a few cacti to pull some green into the desert half. You could also add a few gray rocks. Just something mundane that breaks up the ocean of tan without trying to be a whole thing. It would be fun if the broken obelisks were on hinges so you could knock them down as a trap or during a car chase or something.

Lego actually has extremely high QC on a meta scale but stuff does go wrong quite a lot, especially lately. A two year pipeline on anything they do kind of makes it feel like they're ignoring shit but they do fix things, very very slowly. Make sure you contact customer support for absolutely anything and everything you're not satisfied with. Missing pieces? Obviously tell them. It's a very simple form and they don't even bother asking you shit before sending replacement pieces. But that print isn't color matched? That windshield didn't come in a bag? Too many stickers? Let them know and treat it like a serious fucking problem. That stuff does actually make it up the chain.

I meme on that "only the best is good enough" line like anyone else but I think of it as less of a claim and more of a bet. Like, if it's not the best, they failed, and they're allowed to fail as long as they don't pretend it's a success.

Just built Z-Blob myself and he's great. I made him a sword from his goo blast. Kept the left forearm gun and built a jetpack somewhat inspired by the one in the instructions. I originally wanted to give him mixel wrists for greater articulation, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to keep the current look of the arms while adding that in. I'll have to think about it, but the swivels work pretty well so far. The new ratcheted pieces are great, and the overall build feels very solid. I've seen a few reviews where the friction in the waist is a point of issue, but mine seems tight so I've no issue with it.

For the visorak aliens at least, my second suggestion was gonna be using the big/regular sized visorak shells for vehicles. Also, maybe since they're so "other" they operate on slightly different laws of physics so the ones on foot have to attach manipulating arms on top to interact properly with regular matter (by way of the Technic hole).

I was at a store once feeling the CMF bags for like 20 minutes straight trying to find a certain one. During that time an employee came up me to three different times and asked if I needed help with anything. I told her what I was doing but she definitely thought I was stealing shit. By the third time she confronted me, we were both really annoyed with each other despite pretending to be nice. Yeah, it looks dirty next to blue hues, but I prefer the old color, because I mostly build mocs with 80-90s sets and parts. Reddish brown doesn't bother me as much even though I prefer the old brown. Light greys I do mix for weathered look on my castles.

Thanks! As for advice on your mech, I think it looks good but a bit too skeletal. I personally like to make my mechs as stud-less as possible. I think if you added some slopes and tile pieces onto the mech, it'd look a lot fuller.

Sometimes the "juniorized" pieces are the best fit for a mech. It has nothing to do with a lack of creativity. I've made mech cockpits from scratch, as well ad mech cockpits from literal 4+ sets. It's all about what works for the design. Sometimes doing an overdesigned brick built cockpits is a detriment to a mech design whereas the pre-built stuff gives it a smoother look. Like I said, I use both, but it just depends on what I'm going for with the mech.

Lego Dimensions, minus the NFC stuff, but just as a theme where everyone can hang out. Of course it won't happen due to licenses though. I'm honestly not a big fan of the Lego form factor for just anything, and would mostly prefer original themes.

I'm really curious how much kids actually use the shooting play functions in sets nowadays. Even with the competition cannon I rarely used it and preferred to just use my imagination. I always would prefer the model to look better rather than have a hamfisted play function, it would let me have more imaginative fun.
I guess lego does focus groups and shit but most of the time it just seems like they're checking boxes.

Working on a TIE Defender. It started from Jerac's design from Brick Vault but I didn't like his reliance on illegal techniques and questionable wing connections. I designed this version (the ball cockpit is the only part that isn't original at the moment) to actually be played with without worrying about the wings.

Minerfag back here, should likely figure out how to 3D model to make stuff like this for some of the aliens since I like this sort of style mold ever since I was a kid, this is gonna be a proper childhood theme for me I feel and should be pretty fun to make when I have all the resources, biggest decisions yet to be made still is what color the rocks and general planet should be, red and brown or blue and gray, or something of a combo since that will be a bit decider for stuff and general pallets, plus difficulty making custom baseplates in odd colors

There are lots of other smaller castle-like structures and iconic features throughout each game's world that would make for good smaller sets. Wave 1 sets could have Hyrule Castle as a flagship set, wave 2 could have Ganon's Castle, and beyond that they could make up original castles, or dig into other Zelda games for larger sets, Clock Town, Skyloft, Bridge of Eldin, Twilight Realm, Windfall Island or any of the four major settlements from the Breath of the Wild games would all make excellent large scale sets.

Honestly, I love classic castle but outside of random one-off sets it's never going to be a big theme again, not for a while at least, so Zelda might be the best we could hope for. Zelda really has the potential to be the next long-running castle theme.

Why are collectible minifigures, which are made from a cheaper Chinese plastic, a bajillion times more durable than the standard minifigures made of ABS from sets?
I’ve torn so many arms out of CMFs and popped out their hands nonstop as a kid and never had them break while all of my “premium” minifigures come with stressed legs out of the box and crumble just from being assembled?
Aside from faded discoloration, especially the yellow hands, why are the parts that’re cheaper to produce somehow way better?
