If it's just for display and no articulation needed, there were tons of Imperial vinyl figures during the 80s that were so totally not designed for MOTU figures with saddles. Search ebay for 'imperial vinyl figure' and sift through the godzilla knock-offs for the various chinese plastic monsters and beasts, from rhinos to dragons to not-battlecats. They'll work for anything 5in-6in scales.
For articulated mounts, MOTU Origins has Battlecat and Panthor with some decent articulation for a relatively cheap figure. He-Man Revelation line has an even larger and way more articulated Battlecat that is just fun to have in general.
If dinos are your thing, you can still get some of the Jurassic Park Amber Collection Raptors to use for raptor-mounts, and several Hammond Collection dinos like the larger theropods are great too.
