>>10612142Ive researched DD BJDs a lot over the past week because im remaking this Miku doll (for way cheaper than buying one in one piece,) and as far as I can tell, only the head and eyes of of a specific character’s doll is considered “custom” to that doll. Despite that, all that means is the makeup/print is unique on what’s otherwise a standard head.
I’ll turn this into an update for where I am now:
I bought a DDH-09 head for the Miku (it was hard to tell because of the black around her eyes for certain, but her head is definitely either DDH-09 or -10.)
Regarding the eyes, someone in here told me they’re likely custom follow me eyes, which are very easy to DIY. You need this gay little glass hemispheres called cabochons, the eye pattern drawn or printed, and some Mod Podge. I made a design with similarly small irises and pupils to those of the yandere/creepy miku doll.
I actually found the Miku marching-band outfit for a very reasonable price, too, so she wont be naked at least. Though, I’m not too worried about finding more good clothes for low prices later.
Only thing I gave up on matching exactly is the skin tone of the doll. BJD DD parts come in three skin tones: white (literally fucking porcelain-white,) semi-white, and normal (kek.) OG Miku is semi-white, but that tone is discontinued, likely because there really isn’t a huge difference between the latter two. So I don’t even care.
Overall, everything is way cheaper to buy separately, and I’ve covered everything except makeup so far. Have to research Whats and Hows still.
Will post results when everything comes in. Might be a few weeks max.
