Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Oh my, oh my, I'm terribly late this year. Thank you to everyone who made the new thread and kept it alive. I have been documenting this year's festering festive offerings; for the most part; but I just haven't had the time to sit down, go through, and post anything until now. (I was even planning on making an actual blog of some kind that would have been ready for this year. C’est la vie) Well, let's just jump right in to the very first store to put out their calcium curios; Michaels.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630429 I took these all the way back on August 4th!
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630431 If these aren't returning plush on a stick, then they had similar ones last year.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630448 The black ones are fuzzy.
If you were really crafty, you could just buy the normal colored bone spiders separately for cheaper elsewhere and just glue it to a stick.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630453 These hands are also felted.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630462 The glow in the dark hard plastic filler skulls are back from last year. This time they're in plastic jars with metal lids, instead of vinyl bags with header cards. They also have brains in this assortment.
I like the switch to the jars; they could be used as decorative pieces as is if you wanted to; or just poor some water or slime in them for added effect.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630471 I quite liked the first two pieces here.
The torso pot is made out of metal, and the ribcage is fairly sturdy. This would be great for some kind of crawling vine plant.
The Medusa is that light hollow fake plaster type material that a lot of garden decorations are made of.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630482 I really love how carnivorous plants have become a mainstay of Halloween decorations over the past several years.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630484 The mini snakes are back from last year, only this time they have blood splatter added to them.
The other thing is a metal wreath hanger.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630487 This bowls is also made out of the same stuff the Medusa head was molded in, while the bottle is glass.
You never know what material they're gonna make these things out of until you touch them.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630489 A bunch of premade wreaths.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630503 These are some of the better skull in hour glass items, since the sand can cover the skull up fairly well.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630512 The Necromantic aesthetic is still as big as years past.

Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630560 Michaels went with Ravens as a sub theme this year.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630562 Another thing you could make on your own for as much or cheaper if so inclined.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630563 Usually this guy is on a toilet.
Don't worry we'll see that soon enough!
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630572 Not skeletons, but I couldn't help but notice the fact that the bat standing upright is actually molded as if it was haning upside down!
I thought; "oh, they just reused part of the mold for the hanging version." but no, the hanging version is clearly a totally different mold.
The wing dish is also a nice item.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630584 Got their nails did.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630601 I wish the little bat was sold separately.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630633 Did these light up? I don't remember.
With the advancements in LEDs over the past several years, you can light up pretty much anything. However I still prefer when I can just plug the thing in and not worry about battery life.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630636 I really like how the one butterfly's wing dot becomes an eye when it's sitting on the socket.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630639 Those skulls are also fuzzy.
Felt or flocked skulls seem to have become a mainstay.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630646 I have a love/hate relationship with things that are meant to look like they're made out of other things, but are actually made of a 3rd thing.
Sometimes they're clever, sometimes I don't care about them at all, sometimes I hate them immensely.
These resin skulls made to look like they're woven out of wicker are ok in my book.

>>10630676 Always nice when they have the same item in different colors.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630677 And here it is!
The best item in the store!
Edgar Allan Poe on the toilet!
it's going to be hard for anything else to top this item this year.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630681 Onto the Crazy Bonz like items.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630682 Michaels is carrying the bootleg pose skeleton animals this year under their Ashland brand!
I regret not starting this sooner, because they're all sold out now at my store, and it's probably the same story for any of yours, too.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630684 New molds.
The extra elongated and segmented head on this spider makes it look more like an ant, or even a roly-poly.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630689 If this goose isn't new, it's rare enough that I don't remember it offhand like others.
Skeleton Quest 23 - The Search for Spook
>>10630691 The head for the frogs look to be the same, but the body is new, and flatter to the ground, then the more sitting original model.
