>>10589724>GI Joe isn't very acceptable in today's political climate.yeah, no.
People were super anti-war in the 00s. 9/11 made everyone super patriotic and antsy for war, but by 2003 there was a huge anti-war movement. 2003 was when GI Joe was gaining popularity and expanding the line, as they successfully relaunched the previous year.
In 2008, Obama's campaign for president promised the end to foreign wars and quiet down warmongers. Also promised fix the shitty homeland secuirity bullshit of regular people being treated like criminals and people fearing the militarization of police. This is all shit people voted Obama for, as the most popular president in decades
In 1999, there was the Columbine shooting, which made anti-gun views the most popular ever.
Also violent video games were being demonized during the 2000s.
There was no worse time for GI Joe to be brought back, yet it got its second wind despite all those popular anti-war/gun/violent movements.
What's today climate like? Racial shit? GI Joe since the 80s was super rich in diversity, with a changing line up of main characters, featuring popular blacks, asians, hispanic characters.
People are more pro war today than they've ever been, with popular opinion of arming ukraine and egging China on while the US continues modernizing their army/navy/airforce to stay 2 steps ahead of the world.
There's some antigun rhetoric, but it's nowhere near how it was in the 00s.
All this leads to an important question: Why isn't GI Joe more popular today?
