I glimpsed through Soviet era toys, it’s depressing to say the least. They did not import anything (some lee ways for things of course) with any nation so they did everything on their own

This, Soviet toys and memorabilia are actually somewhat popular in Japan, I see USSR era toys on Yafuoku now and then, they even have dedicated sites for them.
