BBTS has always cost a buck or two more (which I’m happy to pay for their pile of loot feature) but this feels.. Really substantial. Not even exclusives are (usually) this pricey. Is this figure something special?

Going through their Marvel Legends stock there seems to be a bunch of seemingly random figures that they're listing for weird prices. Stuff that stuck out were the 20th Anniversary Cap, one of the Gamerverse Iron Men, the original Six Arm Spider-Man, and the Xemmu wave Red Skull. All for different prices. Granted, some of these figures are out of print, but I checked and you can find ebay listings for half of what BBTS is charging. I've never noticed this before.

BBTS is basically your local comic shop online. They'll markup out of production figures and slightly markup retail ones. They also heavily markup exclusives because they service most of the world and it's the only site where most non-US collectors can get exclusives.

Yeah it's not a scam, it's just a fucking ripoff. I had to order a figure from a local shop, retails at 50 euro, paid 95 euro for it. There's no justification for this kind of markup.

BBTS usually sells at SRP. Only instances of them not doing so are when they have discovered they have a discontinued item that's more in demand than when it was first offered or if they are sourcing out of their normal wholesaler like buying an import figure through another middleman.

Generally MSRP is the term used. Manufacturer's, implying they sell for wholesale then suggest the price to the retailer. Up to the retailer if they want to undersell, oversell, exact amount, etc the price.

Not at all. Their mcfarlanes are all priced up. Usually 19.99 elsewhere goes to 24.99 at BBTS, and 24.99 ones will go to 25.99. And their Japanese figures have been over the conversion rates for ages now.

They're buying P-Bandai at the same price like you and me either through the official site or using a middleman to buy from a PB store in another country and then reselling it on their site. No one is gettung p-bandai at whole sale pricing.

Assuming this thing has the same shipping cost as the Anchor Gundam, that means they're paying about $120 per unit. An $80 markup is pretty standard for something that is limited release and has that high of a per unit buy-in. It sucks as a consumer, but from their perspective it makes sense because every 1 of these they don't manage to sell eats at the profit earned from 1.5 of them that do get sold. They're basically the only way to get shit like this for anyone who lives outside the US and Japan who aren't aware of or have access to japanese resellers. Get mad at Bandai for having shitty preorder windows and limited shipping options resulting in shit like this even being a viable market.

Normal whole sale for retailers fluctuates between 40 to 60% depending on how closer they are to the manufacturer in the distribution foodchain. So that just means normally they and other retailers are getting stuff wholesale around that %

I've cancelled a preorder on AmiAmi scheduled for April 2024 and still open for POs. I'm new and I've only made 1 purchase, got a bunch of other preorders I won't touch. They will ship it, and you'll get dinged if you try to cancel it. The best thing you can do is just comb through the preowned section for something neat and combine it with that order before they invoice you. That way you can at least justify the shipping charge.
