Spammers have been having a field day with this board for the past several months and now you have to bump your topics constantly if you want them to stay alive, an unbumped topic can get pushed off the last page in as little as 8-12 hours depending on time of day. At one point I was barely able to save it from the brink of archival but a few days later it got buried anyway when I wasn't around to bump. My local Half Price Books randomly had some 90s Hot Wheels at the front by the register for completely reasonable prices! My god they roll so well and feel so much more substantial compared to the today, they roll so quiet and the metal/metal gives it such a good heft.

Holy hell my local store finally got rid of the Dragstrip Demons set and finally got the Spettacolare set. Managed to get all 5 in one, with a Neon Rally Cat as a bonus. I must be the only one who likes that Rally Cat because it was only this and the GT Hunter on the pegs and I already bought the GT Hunter beforehand.

256, Cullman area here. I chose not to go, and I'm glad I didn't. I heard through the grapevine that some jackass was selling acceleracers for 25%-300% (yes, they were charging $90 for a $20-30 car) more than eBay. Really sad to see. Why even go out at that point since you can just buy the car and have it shipped to your door for less than what these goons are wanting. I could probably get anything I want at David's place here (Diecast Extreme) without having to waste gas. I hate being so doomer but god it's awful.

Of all the stupid shit I've read on this board, this ranks near the top.

- There were dozens of vendors there, including David selling some stuff that he only sells at shows and not at his store. A few that are unreasonable do not mess up anything at all with the majority of people who are reasonable.

- Buying old used stuff online is convenient but can be risky. It's huge to be able to hold the thing in your hand and make sure it meets whatever criteria you have for it. The giant selection of Redlines at this particular show is awesome.

- There are still deals to be found. The Tomica RX-7 is flawless and was $10. The Speed Machines Porsche was $7. The Civic was $5. There were plenty of other decent prices.

I'm happy that you had a good experience there on Saturday. What I am saying here is the only people that carry the things I am looking for at shows have consistently wanted amounts tremendously over eBay. That's been my personal experience. YES, people can charge what they want, and if it doesn't sell it doesn't sell. I get it and totally understand. Free country and all. That doesn't mean the people wanting, for example, $20 a piece for their 10-20 copies of the UH civic you bought are cool people that we should celebrate having at events. They simply are not.

If you visit David in the store or shoot him a message on Facebook and ask "Hey, do you have XYZ?" He would happily pull it out from his show inventory. It seems counterintuitive to not sell product simply because it's part of the show inventory rotation. He's a great guy that loves seeing people enjoying the hobby.

We both know eBay is extremely consumer friendly and as a buyer, you can INAD claim for the most bs of reasons and win if the condition is not exactly as described and pictured. Hidden flea bite on a redline? Bam, you win an INAD claim and get to return it for a free refund and you don't even have to pay shipping. There's very little risk. It's Average American-proofed.

Ultimately, I'm not trying to be a negative Nancy. I'm glad you found good deals on the things you wanted! At the end of the day, that's all the matters. If I went, I would have picked up something nice for a good price too. The redline selection is indeed always great and yes, deals can be had on everything so long as you look. Anyway, again I'm glad you had a good time at the show. Have a great Sunday evening! Maybe I'll see you at the next show.

NTA, but that sucks to hear. I went to my local swap meet and found about 150 mainlines for $1/ea. I find the local swap meets to be much cheaper than eBay, especially when it comes to easy to find common cars. (Trying to build my 90's/2000/s collection.

Generally I have found in the last 2 times I started going that Swap meets have generally better prices than online vendors or sites. But that may be because it's a die cast swap meet.

Though when I looked at the prices of some of these cars, I agree with you, these fools are smoking shit. No way I'd pay $90 for the F&F 9 pack set that came out this year, and the guy at the show wanted $50. Still too much. One guy sold his 2 for $20 before I got there which was more respectable. That said, it appears to me that what good deals can be had are on STHs, regular THs, and mainlines. Car Culture, semi premium mainlines like the Neon Speeders sets, and RLC cars that are all relatively affordable new, go for the most on the secondhand market in terms of mark up.

I've never had to do this. I hear it's very purchaser friendly. I've had go through this process on another site multiple times and while it was easy to get my money back it was still a huge pain in the ass. In-person is still far, far superior.

You also can't really network and make good connections on eBay and it's tough to do online. Nothing compares with actually looking someone in the eye and shaking their hand.

Sure, if my collection was super super specific and niche I probably wouldn't go to many. But I would see why other people would want to.

Well an addendum, about 150 cars in total. That Solar car set in the top left corner was $5. So a good deal imo. It also appears that the older some cars get, including STHs, the less desirable, and thus less expensive they become. Maybe it's just me, and some of the STH's I bought on eBay this year from a few years back were never that expensive, but I had gotten a couple at sub $30 vs a couple newer ones over $50/ea (Some cars like Datsuns excluded). Just my 2 cents.

On their site on a 15€ model i'll have to add almost double of the price for shipping, other sellers have higher prices/lower shipping costs but we're still on the same level. The only hope seems to be ebay chinese sellers but i don't know if it's worth to gamble on those.

Hopefully you'll find that Camaro anon, it's one of my favourite molds of the year next to the Rally Speciale, Group C Fantasy and Mod Speeder. Looks very Cyberpunk and goes well with the Mod Speeder even though it's unintentional. I'm annoyed the front splitter can't be repositioned so that it can go on loops but considering the design I'll give it a pass.

Not a big fan of this car but yes, Hot Wheels made these as well. I think it just went under radar compared to much more popular 1965 Riviera.

So, I just got back from my trip to Edmonton last night. Yes, I went to the West Edmonton Mall. I went to this "Coin & Stamp" store, and realized on the last day that they don't only sell fancy coins and postage stamps, but the whole lot from Gundams, Weeb shit, cards, and yes: Diecast cars. Pic related costed me in total: ~$200 in Maple Leaves. The Speed Racer one was from a neighboring hobby store that costed $26. Was gonna get the Schofield replica airsoft gun, complete with fake cartridges, but decided to back out, last minute. Maybe next time.

There WAS another Diecast-centric store I looked up prior to the trip, but when we got there, that place is long gone and the Google street view is outdated. Rip. I could've got more, but car space was an issue.

Extremely detailed for a scale smaller than standard Hot Wheels. Even budget ones like Cararama Hongwell I often use for my trains.
To be honest, I have little trouble with them as headlights in some Porsche models often tend to fall off.

They are an entirely different car. Ruf ctr just looks.....too feminine for my taste. Whereas the 930 is perfect, it have more aggressive stance and styling, it's also slightly bigger
