So I had a particularly bad day today and bought Crashbar out of frustration, since the comments about him seemed rather glowing.

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is. I hate his legs, his transformation is finnicky and I just can't seem to get much mileage out of him as a figure or a weaponizer.

Gonna be straight up here and say that this looks like it's going to be the worst commander class yet. It just does too little utility wise to justify it's price point.

Every other commander had a high amount of utility and features that encouraged playability with other figures. This to me doesn't feel like it has anything to it that really sticks out and it's clear that it's a course correction after Hasblow royally fucked up with Kingdom Magnus.

I dunno who you're getting this from aside from motormaster, who suffers for it and is probably the worst commander you can get standalone
The rest either have a shitty waste of plastic base mode or random ports you can hold in jetfire's case (and DO NOT fucking tell me you actually use armada prime's shitty base mode over super mode)

I prefer the super mode by far but the base mode still does enough for what it is. That figure at the very least feels like it's worth the money.

You mean JUST Rodimus? It's only really the case with Motormaster if you don't have the rest of the stunticons and with all the problems of those trailer bases they are at least better than the garbage bases from the likes of Earthrise Optimus and Laser Prime.

Again, whether the base is good or not is irrelevant because the option at the very least is still there. What exactly does this figure have besides it's exploding limbs?

Jetfire not only had those handles, he had cockpits that fit titan masters, and was made to attach to Sixgun in jet mode.
Sky Lynx is fantastic in all modes, including the base mode, which has plenty of connections for the WfC base stuff.
Rodimus was lame, but his turret at least looked nice and his trailer had slightly more utility than Optimus's.

A high level of transformation. He's more complex than every single Commander AND Titan, excluding Cybertron Metroplex. He can also carry cars on him. I know that's not really a big "wow" factor but it's a gimmick that not many other figures can perform honestly so it's unique.

Go to aliexpress and search for transformer combiners, you'll find cheap ko superions, devastators and bruticus.

Quality wise, they use cheaper plastic and did minor re tooling but they're ok for the asking price, 40 bucks per team.

I'd just wait. We just got a new set of the Stunticons who form Menasor, and there's a sub-line specifically for the '86 movie, where Devastator had a memorable scene. As far as I know there haven't been any leaks saying we'll get a new Devastator in this line, but given how long it's been since we got the last one, and that characters that only appeared for a few frames in the movie have gotten toys in this sub-line, I think Devy is a safe bet.

Otherwise, I think that the latest iterations of combiners from Combiner Wars were only sub-par back then, and are totally outdated now. It's only a matter of time before we get new and hopefully better versions.

NTA but I just think the toy's visually unnappealing sadly, mainly due to Siege's typical over-greebling hitting Impactor particularly hard. Also his heads are all fuck ugly, save for the IDW-inspired one in your pic that was exclusive to a 3pack - and even then, it clashes with the rest of the body now. I appreciate the attempt at a Marvel head with the amazon one, but it also looks blegh. I hope they just make a straight-IDW Impactor sometime instead, I like his design; since retooling this one to be less greebly and more Marvel-like has proved to be out of the cards, insofar, unfortunately..

Delta Magnus is perfectly fine and a nice color scheme, skull head for SG Magnus has a very different flavour, but the dark blues, black helmet and yellow eyes are far more menacing than SG Magnus its no comparison.

I'd dare say Magna Convoy is more menacing than Scourge / Nemesis.

Most decent sized ones average between $45-60. The higher the detail and articulation, the higher the price, given that it's all by part count. I've seen some Master Grade Gundams around the price they're asking for that Arcer.

Yes, it's great. I honestly haven't seen such a good figure irrationally trigger so many subsets of the fanbase. Geewunn fags hate it because he isn't a boring black and white coupe, animated fags hate it because it isn't 75% chin by volume, and /pol/tards hate it because it's a cop who isn't inherently violent and racist.

The only thing better on the original is the alt mode (unless you specifically wanted 100% accurate animated aesthetic, which was never going to happen in the Legacy line anyway) and I think the trade-off is worth it. Articulation on the new one is improved, and also it won't cost you 70 bucks to buy used, encrusted with some manchild's cum and cheeto dust as a bonus.

His TR version was pretty good. I mean, no matter how you try it, the jet mode is always going to look crappy because there's no way to convincingly hide all the tank bits on it, but the tank and robot modes both looked decent enough. Not fantastic, but nowhere near as fucked up as the Legacy one is - plus his tank mode didn't have a dick sticking out the front.

Definitely gonna pick up bonecrusher (just not at haspulse asking price…) when he comes out, and then probably Brawl too. Hold up they are doing Brawl? I love Tanks snd Transformers who become them, so a MPM Brawl would be a dream for me. No transformer I know of does a real tank (of any model) very accurately, and I feel like the best were in G1/G2, and even then they were Brawl, Megatron, amd Blitzwing which werent fsntastic.

No, he's pointing out how blitzwing's tank turret in the show is backwards. He's constantly driving backwards with his gun pointed to the rear of the tank. There's tailfins with the jet mode too that aren't in the right place in the cartoon robot mode
so cartoon accuracy means the alt modes are innacurate to their source vehicles

Yes, mostly starting with kits for Classics Optimus Prime and then coming out with a repainted version for like all 20 of it's various recolor. They they jumped onto Reveal the Shield Laser Prime after, who was a really hot figure at the time but didn't include a trailer. So they made an add on for him that gave him armor pieces to bulk him up and the missle launching trailer idea that is still used to this day. This is the vanilla figure on the far right with his various recolors.

They've been borrowing 3rd party design ideas for years, anon. Back in the day Hasbro wasn't on board with 3rd party and tried to shut it down constantly, but over time they failed and now they almost have a symbiotic relationship where the 3rd party guys act like free R&D for Hasbro, then Hasbro gets to rip them off and there's nothing they can do about it because they know it's an issue which would never go to court because they were using stolen IP in the first place. Also they don't mind much about add-on shit because you have to buy Hasbro's figure in the first place and if you want to spend more to spice it up after that then go right ahead.

I was told it had to do with things like that Lego lawsuit against their own third party shit that failed and because it failed it meant anyone could do bricks like that, so that's why you had McFartland doing ripoff legos, and Hasbro doesn't wanna risk what little control they have so they just let third parties do whatever because what they're doing now isn't as bad as what they would do if Hasbro lost the potential ID claim lawsuit

Ok, so now that I've opened him and fiddled with him a bit, here's Nova Prime!
Not a character I'm familiar with, so I'm going to have to read up on him, but he looks awesome all the same with those wings and big cannons. Actually, the box he came in was pretty cool looking as well - it opens with a front flap and had a smaller 'frame inside that he was sitting in. He also is apparently into bondage, since he was covered completely in strings that...weren't holding him to the tray at all, so I'm not sure what the poitn was other than maybe he was practicing shibari while waiting in his box...
Anyway, as an Ultra Magnus/Galaxy Convoy retool, he's got all the same articulation, and the ratchet joints in his hips let him hold poses fairly well. his wings can move back and forth a little, but sadly don't fold up or down. Those big cannons on his back swing down and pop up as underslung weapons, and have a pair of handles that slide forward for him to grip; there's not a whole lot of leeway in terms of movement with the guns, so he can really only point them straight forward. While he stands fine as-is, he also has a pair of 'anchors' that fold out from under his feet for added support - presumably to absorb the recoil of his guns.

Being a retool of Siege Ultra Magnus, he has an inner bot under all that gear. Like the previous three versions of the mold, it's not exactly the most impressive mode, and most likely not the way people will be displaying him, but it's a thing. The tip of his right cannon can detach to become a handheld blaster, and his instructions say to attach both of his big black pistols to the backs of his wrists, though they can obviously be held in his hands like normal as well.

Since the only real difference between him and Galaxy Convoy is the shape of the wings, his transformation is exactly the same. While this means his robot hands are better hidden than on the Ultra Magnus version of the mold (thanks to a boxy piece that comes down and covers them), it also means that it does a far worse job of hiding the armored mode head, since the trailer has no actual top other than the two cannons. The vehicle mode still looks decent when viewed from the sides, especially sicne the cannons can be moved around to make him look a bit more impressive and intimidating than UM, though like all the previous versions of the mold, the trailer itself is fixed in place, attaching to the cab via clips instead of a trailer hitch.

Nova's not bad, but he's also nothing new if you're already familiar with Siege Ultra Magnus or (especially) the Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime retool. I happen to like the mold, and I know I'm in the minority in that I also enjoy the armor gimmick, so I'm satisfied with him, even with all the flaws the mold has. He certainly looks impressive enough.

How long do I need to wait for a new Ultra Magnus with the armour gimmick? I refuse to buy one that doesn't contain a white Optimus Prime (so no SS86) but the Siege/Kingdom design looks terrible in vehicle mode. Apparently they originally wanted the inner bot for Kingdom to be a white ER Optimus but the budget didn't allow for it so they went for retooling Siege instead. I feel like that would have been a much better candidate for commander than Rodimus at least.

Little Cosmos is almost always on my desk, but Delta hasn't been transformed since a reorganization like 4 years ago when I had to transfer everyone to my desk. Now he just kind of sits in the back of my biggest shelf, his trailer loaded with out-of-rotation bots. And no little hat. :,^(

He was introduced by Furman during his run on IDW, he's basically the very first "ha ha I am a Prime who was succeeded by Optimus and seen as a hero, but now I'm back and EVIL!!" character in Transformers; characters like TF3 Sentinel and... basically every Prime in IDW who isn't Optimus lol... inevitably has roots in Nova.

Personally as a fan of Nova I'm not angry about this retool, but I definitely find it bizarre: his original design was clearly inspired by G2 Hero Optimus - right down to the truckcab feet - just with a different chest, head, and a pair of big ol wings instead of the air cannon. I actually quite like that aspect of the design, as it reminds me of Car Robots Nemesis Prime, being a retool of G2 Laser Prime. And hey, it works on that level too: during IDW, Nova Prime renamed himself into Nemesis!
Anyways I highly recommend Furman's IDW run, it's short but great fun. Feels like a classic action movie with its pacing n setpieces, and it really makes an effort to be different from your typical G1 fare. The Wreckers trilogy is also a good continuation to it, if you end up liking it.

The RiD2000 dub had pretty terrible names, imo. Besides the G1 name-slapping to what're meant to be original characters within G1/BW continuity, some of thrm are just lamer: "Sideburn" makes me think of hair, naww my boy's SPEED BREAKER!!!! (Though a couple of the dub names are admittedly better; what the hell's a "Gelshark"?)
As for Nemesis Prime, I call him that cuz he's still called "Black Convoy" in JP, same as every other Nemesis Prime made later. It's just Hasbro's fault for not coming up with the Nemesis name earlier :^]
But yee, to me, Car Robots "Black Convoy" is the true G1 Nemesis Prime. I think the Scourge name is silly, sorry!

And nah, the G1 name recycling for RiD2000 was just Hasbro maintaining trademarks, albeit in a now-dated fashion. Honestly I think the fault of the trend is mostly the Bay movies, as much as I like them and their original characters + designs. They were so popular that Hasbro HAD to continually make bank off those uber-popular characters, yknow? And they're still riding that high today, albeit pivoted more to evergreen designs and characterizations onstead.

I like her. she's definitely got the better accessories between her and scraphook/towline.

Her arms are the weakest part since the elbows are prone to popping off/looseness, and the shoulders collide with the backpack enough to be an issue while posing. with the arms tabbed into the shoulders the 5mm post is nearly inaccessible, so you have to leave the arms flopping off if you want to use them as weaponizer bits.

Also, the ports the shoulders plug into are recessed, making it difficult to build off her torso.

On the plus side: mad max car looks nice, accessories are fun, and the transformation is really clever, basically turning inside-out.

If she looks like something you'd like, you'll probably be happy with her, but if you can only get one junkion I'd say Crashbar is better

We're supposedly expecting two more at some point, though we don't know who just yet. Speculation is a wolfman and mummy, but right now there's no info other than the fact that there will indeed be more monster bots in the future.

I still say this mold is underrated as hell. As far as triple-changers go, it's one that balances the compromises best across all modes, and it's always fun to change between any two of them, like they're all equal complexity vs. satisfaction ratios.

Even T30 Springer, who is brilliant, is kind of unsatisfying and a touch fiddly to line up into car mode, which is also arguably the most boring mode. But with TR/LG Megatron/Blitzwing, I can't pick him up without wanting to put him in a different mode, and sometimes I'll even change my mind mid transformation just because I'm like, "oh wait, I wanna do the satisfying jet nose bit again" or whatever. It's just a really fun toy, regardless of accuracy or anything else.

Thanks, I made it out of green stuff while I was waiting for the Optimus to arrive. It took around 4 days I think. It certainly looks worse up close, but I think I got the general shape right.

Honestly I agree with >>10618316 that Lugnut should be Leader; not because I think he'd shelfwarm or not as Commander, but because his transformation is braindead simple. Aside from the obvious ankles, and maybe making his hands more complicated so he'd have moving fingies and the POKE, there'd be very little to his actual engineering, let alone whatever paint they would wanna use. The rest of the budget would entirely be poured into his size, which suits me just fine, personally.

Got Shadow Striker in today. She's better than I expected, but also has some annoying bits.
Robot mode looks great. Obviously a pretool for Sideburn but it works fine. Love the headsculpt and the shade of purple they went with.
Only gripe with robot mode is the shoulders. For some reason they're connected to the backpack rather than the actual shoulder, so she can't swing her arms back. Really weird choice and I'm not sure why they did that.

I started collecting through the toys almost exclusively. I have like zero knowledge of some of my favorite bots. There's a pretty good swathe of my collection that I probably couldn't even name at a moment's notice. Just buy what looks good, friend.

Leadfoot/Masterdominus is the only set I bought out of that collection, and I don't regret it. Masterdominus is kinda cool for his alt mode and colors alone, and he's actually a pretty neat, stout, barbarian fossil robot despite his utter lack of hands, but he's a poor weaponizer, especially compared to the likes of Paleotrex. Leadfoot is great, though.

Vehicle mode is really nice, I'm surprised at how good it looks in hand. Transformation is a fiddly mess though. Ironic that it's gonna be used for Sideburn and yet despite coming out 20 years later actually has a much more finicky transformation, even without the asymmetry.
Overall though I like her. She's not perfect but she's fun.

The new one will be a overpieced small toy as most Leader class now days, like he's the most easy g1 triplechanger out of the 6 of them to do, they already nailed him in Siege & with the wrecker one

I should really take some pics of him. He's not bad, you just have to get creative with his arms in robot mode if you want to actually do anything with him. And I honestly don't think we're ever going to get another "robot mammoth skeleton" alt mode, so I feel like he justifies himself with that alone.

Yeah I wasn't quite prepared for how big he is in Heli mode. Really want to find an angled stand that could support him though so I could have him posed in alt mode and like swooping down on something. I haven't found anything on a stand that would be compatible with him in any way though. Given how clean the bottom is on him I think the only places a stand could hook are the minigun mounts.
