Mecha Shark Anon, I haven't played an Armored Core since V. My priorities are all out of whack.
Picked up a pair of Shrapnels at Walmart. Considering cancelling a preorder for one at TFSource and selling one to an anon who wants one, or keeping the preorder and selling the two. Really wouldn't want much more than price of figure and shipping.

the english singular they is related to the french 'on' pronoun, used for 'people in general' or 'a (theoretical) person.' "on va" means "people go"
once the person is specified grammatically, and is no longer just a concept, it's he or she.

but I want a megatherium for sure, a woolly rhino, one of those weird lego-faced rhino things with the many knobs, smilodons (how the shit are there so few of those in transformers?), andrewsarchus, diatryma/phorusrhacids.. uhh who am I leaving out.. GLYPTODON I want glyptodons... i want a meiolania and some of the other similar dragon-ass turtles that apparently survived well into the medieval period on remote islands...

I remember having some ice-age fauna book when I was a wee lad and the illustration basically made that thing look like a mammalian dinosaur, like a short-necked brachiosaur towering over the treetops. The spoon-jaw guy was in it too, they said he sifted krill or something out of the mud and that never seemed like a practical way to feed, maybe for a whale but not a land creature.

metroplex if you like a pretty good giant (with shoulder issues I think that you have to disassemble to repair?) whose weapons are versatile but a little too small for tall-mode...
shrapnel is cool if you like little sentai-esque drone altmodes that look ready to combine into a bigger robot or something
people are having a lot of fun with the junkions, very versatile. can make all kinds of stuff
and Javelin is pretty awesome but she's packaged with a dud.
I like nova prime's wings a lot, but people seem underwhelmed with him. meanwhile everyone loves armada prime, but to me that big front flap hinge on his tummy just ruins him

Translucent red is quite appealling with its dark tone and meshes well with the black legs.

I did want the Core trailer 2-pack but the Bumblebee looked like shit, so this is a nice alternative even though it misses the trailer.

This reissue of Fortress maximus had me looking around for the Legends release. TFsource has it on preorder but for $480 fucking dollars. Would it be cheaper to get it from a Japanese site and a forwarder overseas? Never used many of those so I'd appreciate a price check. Never mind that a Car Robots Brave Maximus showed up for around the same price on eBay recently... honestly it's way too much regardless but I like to keep a mental note of what the market argues these hunks of plastic are worth.

The Legacy version actually reminded me to buy the PotP one just recently. I had been waiting for a more interesting repaint, but it just literally never happened. Not even a G2 variant. Pretty lame. Hardtop would have been cool.

I don't think the price is much better when ordering from Japan because of shipping. The yen is trash atm but shipping will take it to a similar price for LG Fortress Maximus.

Note: RobotToyBase is selling the LG Cerebros by itself if you just want him without the titan body.

yeah, legacy alt mode is definitely a downgrade. the only cool thing it does over the potp one is having a gun, and integrating it to look like a brush guard/winch combo on the front.

Good luck bro. Priorities can change in a heartbeat. I had been refusing to look for a job for 3 years, trying and failing to start my own business. I finally caved and started looking for work and cant even get a single response, despite my resume full of cool jobs and big accomplishments. Been selling all my toys and not even making ends meet because Im listing these things kicking and screaming. Honestly, Megatronia was already an improvement over Victorion in that she didn't use that awful colorscheme (no, really - I get that they were going for rust, but why make her colors this jarring? And the silver doesn't work with them, either), but the core issue that needs addressing is that 1) These molds don't 100% work as female characters unless they're as stylized as they were in Legends or fanart like picrel, and 2) The head is so tall it looks like TFA Mindwipe more than it does a lady.

Universe 'Nemesis' Strika! Why the 'Nemesis' title? Who knows!
Strika is a character I had been meaning to get for a long, long time now; originally I was going to go for the Beast Machines coloration, but after I got the Universe incarnation of her hubby (who came with Universe Tankor), I went for this version. Neither the BM nor this version are actually her show-accurate colors (apparently, the Japanese 'beast Wars Returns version is the closest to her show model), and she sports some scuffed-up paint apps that are on-par with the stuff from the recent Siege line.
Colors aside, Strika's alt mode is pretty close in shape to how she appeared in BM, though the missiles attached to her rear guns make them look a bit longer; the missiles fire in a similar manner to how Obsidian's rotors can be launched, and they have an added action feature where pressing down on her SPark Crystal makes them pump back and forth as if they were firing. Like all Vehicons, her head/cab can move around in vehicle mode, but it only goes up and down.

While her 'assault tank' alt mode came close to her show appearance, her robot mode looks a fair bit different, mostly due to liberties Mainframe took with her proportions, but also where the placement of four of her wheels went.
Still, her transformation is simple but interesting. Her front set of wheels fold down and become her legs and feet, and have little struts that help keep her standing so she can support the weight of her massive torso; the second set of wheels fold up and tuck behind her chestplate, actually forming said torso, while her last set folds down and hangs off of her backpack. Her 'neck' folds back like an accordion and the cab flips back to reveal her robot head, while the two sides of the tank dislocate and clip back into her backpack to form her arms. Her hands, sadly, do not extend from the 'gauntlets' they're attached to, but she does have wrist rotation (the gauntlets move with them) and, weirdly, a wrist joint that lets it fold forward 90 degrees at the purple area. She has no waist rotation, but she does have funtioning ankle rockers; you can actually fold her ankles back up into their alt mode configuration and leave the struts down to give her 'roller skates', though she never did that on the show.
Her head can move up and down, but since it's attached by a slider and not a balljoint, she can't really look left or right. Her missiles and action feature are still fully functional in robot mode, and she has an additional set of guns sculpted onto the backs of her gauntlets, if you feel she needs more firepower; sadly, due to her weird hands, she can't actually hold any weapons.

It's nice finally having both members of Cybertron's most cunning power couple (and technically, they hold the distinction of being the very FIRST official married couple to appear in the whole franchise) together at last. Strika's weird engineering is a tad bit outdated, and I wish they had done something more with her hands, but she's still quite fun to mess around with, and has a rather 'striking' silhouette that certainly makes her stand out - especially when she's paired with Obsidian. There is another bit of weirdness going on here that should be pointed out, though - both Strika and Obsidian here are labelled as Decepticons, when in canon they were actually Autobots before being stuffed into their current Vehicon shells (something that confused Primal quite a bit when they introduced themselves in the show and revealed that they had not, in fact, been reprogrammed like the previous three generals); presumably, this is because of their antagonistic role in BM, but the characters aren't technically 'bad guys' - they're programmed to protect and serve Cybertron, and since Megatron had pretty much literally become Cybertron by the time he brought them back online, it meant that their loyalty - however misplaced - ended up being to him. Still, these two are from the Universe storyline, and were plucked from a different timeline (this Obsidian having explicitly betrayed his programming and murdered both Megatron AND all the Maximals before taking control of Cybertron for himself), so maybe these incarnations actually were really evil Decepticons in their original universe. Who knows.

Fun fact - that axe also doubles as a crossbow or a gun. It's the reason why that mold has a 5mm peg molded onto the bottom of the pterodactyl's chin - you tuck the head back in the opposite direction, have your 'bot hold it from the neck peg, and use the (blast-effect compatible) axe handle as a gun barrel.

Obsidian calls Strika his consort when introducing her. A consort is a spouse (usually from an arranged or political marriage rather than out of love). So yes, they're an official couple.

Also explained right in Obsidian's introductory speech - Megatron knew they would only serve whoever was in charge of Cybertron at the time when he revived them, so he didn't bother creating shell personalities for them. 'Obsidian' and 'Strika' were their actual names, those were their original personalities,, and they were doing what they believed was the will of Cybertron - because Megatron had already integrated himself with Cybertron by that point (there was a whole scene a few episodes earlier where he was literally dropping buildings on the Maximals).

Yeah Russ does go hard on G1 collecting and finding the rarest kind of toy possible but I also like that he tries to collect toys that he missed out that aren't G1 all in the name of catching up and doesn't discriminate. That's a lot compared to some people who don't bother buying certain toys because it's not the character they grew up with and has no attachment to. Fair enough, you shouldn't buy a toy if you have no interest in it but if its a damn good toy in a vacuum then it's worth getting either way.

it's funny that i'm so willing to spend a lot of money on really tiny transformers, thirdparty upgrade kits, i even bought a few beastboxes today, but I cannot bring myself to overcome the expense of custom 3d printed shit. or for that matter, buy a 3d printer, those are weirdly cheap now. My whole point is that if you're going to imagine them getting stronger just because they magically mass-shifted, there's literally nothing stopping you from imagining they just got stronger from the combination, period, without the need to suddenly turn a car into the size of a small building.

Nothing would change if Toys R Us was still around. If anything, it would get worse since they pretty much had all the exclusives and we’re as bad as the other retailers when stocking transformer related shit. Toys R Us would’ve also gotten fucked over even worse had they still been around during the pandemic. The pandemic pretty much revealed how problematic retailers have become during the last decade.

i only have the optimus but looking at pictures of the rest i think i got the best one. i think bumblebee has a unreasonabley good alt mode and cool combinaiton but really bad base robot, and scourge has a really good armor thing but shit everything else. the base primal figure looks okay visually but im not sure weather it has elbows or not? the arcee looks shit all together lol. i like the concept of giving them little pals to fart around with that automorph into armor tho, just with it was done better.

I totally get what you meam. It thinj it works pretty well on him, and the less clean back is well hodden with the cape. I was pleasantly surprised to see that his legs became his batwings, I dont think I've seen many transformations like that. My only complaints are that his weapons don't seem "dracula" to me and I'm not a fan pf his bat modes "tail" made of said weapons.

Same, which is why I attach them to his robot hands in bat mode - the weapons end up hidden behind his bat legs, and the cape covers them so they're not visible at all.

I hope so. As unnecessary as he was in the movie (I would have preferred they used that dragon model as intended and kept it as Megatron's actual alt mode), he still deserved a much better toy than what he got.

Not a bad idea. Not a huge concern because I'll be displaying him in Robot mode anyways. Gonna get some blast effects for him too. Some nice dark red ones would be great.

Not the Challenge on Cybertron one, nope - the auction was just Nightstick on his own, based on the description the seller had no idea what it is (nor was there any sight of Cyclonus among their auctions). Not a problem for me, though.
