Oh wow that takes me back. I remember my local ToysRUs being filled with both of these, and a lot of Skylanders and Animal Crossing amiibo figures for like $5 or less each.
I also remember seeing the Cloverfield monster figure on clearance for like $40 at ToysRUs too. If only I was spending my money on monster toys instead of Yugioh cards at the time. Ah, the memories.

I'm wondering if things like this happen because stores are letter algorithims dictate where toys go to. For example, I bought a bunch of these mystery blind bag toys at one Walmart, and then when they restocked I bought even more. None of the other Walmarts had them. Then I came back month later and Walmart had like 6x time the amount as before, and none of the Walmarts around still had them. It was like the system went 'whoa, looks like store #Y is selling a lot of item X, send the rest of the stock there'. I'm sure the toys are still sitting there unsold.

A great place for these in the US is outlet stores like Ollie's or Big Lots. Overstock often ends up there, as does stuff that shelfwarmed. Last time I was at my local Ollie's, they had about two dozen of Black Series Zorii Bliss on a deep discount.

lol it's ok, I paid out the ass for it and I live in the US. It was hard to find for a short window when it initially came out, and in my excitement I overpaid on eBay. Fast forward a few months, and it was overflowing shelves.

Why the fuck would stores order so many of a single character? Even if the line is a blockbuster, it's still an awful use of shelf space. Where are they supposed to put the figures of all the other characters? Like the wall full of Slippys, for example. Where the hell are they supposed to put all the Foxs, Falcos, etc.?

I've always wondered if stores consolidate stock. Do they just say "hey this particular item isn't selling well across the board, take two thirds of the stock from every store and ship it to this specific store that has the most turnover and put it on discount, get it out the door" or if they send it to a store that basically nobody goes to and they can spare the floor space.
