As a sidenote, is Valkyrie a designation for lady cobra troopers that already existed in the past or was it made up for the new set? And am I too presume because of that designation and the armband that they're meant to be more elite than standard infantry? Or does it just mean they're women who are on the same level and women typically aren't?

The specific Valkyrie thing was made up for the line. Maybe it's supposed to distinguish them from regular troopers as if they were Vipers, but personally I think it's just because calling them "Cobra Troopers (female)" would have caused Twitter fags to get all riled up and Hasbro wanted to avoid that.

I see a lot of people buy stuff from Grid Iron Props but I find them to be a tad overpriced although they are painted and finished pieces. There's also Anthanatos Unlimited on Etsy. They're unpainted prints but have stuff like vests and webgear, heads, and tons of weapons/accessories

Since I didnt like the mustard straps on the Valkyrie, I did a quick repaint of them. And while I had the figure dissembled, I did a quick touch up of her as well. Pretty happy with the results.
Will have to bust out the airbrush to color the guns black, so for now Im using the guns from the other one.

And apparently they're doing a re-run of the deluxe Mindbender, maybe they'll do that with Serpentor and the price will drop into the 70 dollar range

Alright Joeanons, I just got Shipwreck and Torpedo, but now I'm stuck with two water guys and nothing for them to do. Besides the Fortnite boat, what are my options for a decent 1:12ish vehicle for them to use? I don't want it to take up an entire wall of my toyroom, but I don't want them in a little inflatable raft either.

It was hard enough finding boats for these guys back when they were 1:18 scale. At 1:12 I don't even know where to start looking.

But as far as 1:12 scale vehicles not taking up too much space, you might have to get over that because anything more than a motorcycle or single-person flying thing, it's gonna be big

Some other Lone Wolf customs arrived as well: got a Pythona, along with a Scarlett head, a Covergirl, Baroness, and Zarana. The Zarana I'm sending a donar figure to the customizer to repaint as a DIC version. I had to boil her torso to pop her torso to pop her apart, but it was worth the effort.

Fun fact: Zartan and his siblings are of the few vintage Joes who are glued together on the inside. You have to boil the torso in a pot and then wait until it becomes rubbery, and start squeezing it until the seams start to apear on the sides. Then you keep re-heating and slowly pry the seams apart. Eventually you sort of just rip it all apart-- and you've done it. Honestly easier than I thought.

I think people dick him around on prices for his work, and act like it's too pricey for him to paint a figure. The other guys I'm talking to are Joshua Joe and Luke's Toy Box(he's going to sell me pre-painted heads). Lone Wolf Toys also said he'd paint a figure for me and quoted a price, and put me on a waiting list for when he gets some free time.

Here's some more stuff that arrived as well: a cartoon Lady Jaye, and Sunbow Cobra Commander head. The Lady Jaye's going to be a DIC version for my 90's Joes.

Vypra gets to hang out with the other Cobras since there's so few female ones. She works pretty well as kitbash figures go, the colors are very fetching. The skull mask is just tilly tho, wish it had been a full alternate head instead.

These ones that are meant for table top minis. They aren't super strong but given their size I think it's okay. If you shake it around, the mine will pop off but for display it's fine. I used two in the hole on the mine so that it would stand a bit proud and then one to go onto the back of the pod.

You definitely can. I originally bought them when I first got the Cobra Island troopers and wanted to remove the pegs off the rifles but still be able to store them on their backs. They fit perfectly into the holes on their vests.

They don't make electronics in these kinds of toys anymore because of import laws. That's why you only get them through Kickstarters and things direct to consumer.

Tunnel Rat came in. I'm happy to have him to complete my core team of Joes but man, all the stuff that just hangs on his torso makes him really fucking fiddly and adding a heavy backpack onto it that doesn't want to stay plugged in just makes it all really annoying to pose the figure. I took this picture of him with all his gear but I'm definitely swapping some stuff around. Going to give him one of my extra Snake Eyes backpacks and give him a different gun so I can get rid of the ammo belt. Not sure what I'm going to do about his flashlights though. I wish the NVG's could flip up and down but they're just one single molded piece unfortunately

Yeah, my biggest problem with the line at this point aside from random figures with terrible QC is that really all the belts and thigh holsters and chest gear should be pegged onto the figure somewhere, even if minorly, because nobody's web gear or belts harnesses or holsters stay in place well at all and it makes posing them a pain in the ass, unless it's a solid chunky vest over the whole torso like the cobra island troopers and firefly, but that also ends up being a huge limiter in posability

I agree. At least with recurves it's usually pretty easy to cut the stupid plastic string off and tie a real one to it that can actually mimic a draw. It's a bit more of a pain in the ass to do that with compound bows though.

I got rid of most of it and just switched the backpack for Snake Eyes' smaller one. He's already much better. Also gave him the entrenching tool from Outback. I ordered him some new webgear so I can ditch the holster and make him a little more modern feeling along with a smaller rifle

Yeah, I've been looking at other lines, there are some wrestling chick figures that I have no familiarity with but look pretty good, I think the fortnite heads are too big, I'll have to eyeball it the next time I see some in a store.
I bought a retro Lady Jaye the other day so my girls will have someone to terrorize in future pictures.
I thought about Scarlet Witch but the big red M headband is too much of a character signature. Tigra is actually up near the top of potential 4th ones, as like a genetic crossbreed animal soldier made by Mindbender. I'd use her hands instead of the valkyries if I do that, and then maybe give her an Indiana Jones whip.

It was probably because the mold for the other weapons has the knife on it so it was just thrown in. They didn't bother to design a sheath for it because it wasn't necessarily intended to be there since they were first used for the Valkyries.

Snow Serpent and Rock N Roll came in for me a few days ago. RnR is an okay figure but nothing more, his best part is the helmet. Great headsculpt tho. Snow Serpent s a really nice figure but some articulation is hindered by his bulky outfit. But IDK how they could have made it otherwise. Love that he has so many paint details like even the fur on his outfit is airbrushed a little, not just the big wolf coat and hat.

Hate to say it but I am thinking of doing the same. I don't know what I'm going to do with that head. I was hoping I could toss it onto a Cobra Trooper body but the ball on that peg is a lot larger than the socket in the TeleViper heads are. I feel like they should have done one production run with the white head, then another later with the black one or vice versa when we also are getting the fully masked head included too.

I'm hoping that they success of the Trubble Bubble will help make sure other vehicles make it out to at least the Fan Channel retailers when the VAMP becomes available. I definitely want another Bubble but the timing of this release was just so bad with all the other shit coming out at the same time so I could only afford one. I don't feel like the TeleViper needed to be included with the pod at all other than the fact that he was the one on the box for the first release and came packed with it during the 25th era, but it's not like he's the dedicated pilot for it like the HISS Tank Driver or Wild Weasel. Got my Hiya Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow today. Never bought any Hiya stuff before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I think they look fantastic and pose pretty decently though. The tattoo on Storm Shadow looks incredible, especially at this scale. I'm glad to have a figure of the original Classified design. Only thing that sucks is I got two right gripping hands instead of a left and a right, which means I can't really use the bow since they give a specific arrow gripping right hand for the 3 removable arrows.

Scale wise they don't really look too far off from Hasbro modern era figures. They are slightly taller but posed around it's not really noticeable and the accessories are nicely compatible. I really don't like the proportions Hiya went with for Snake Eyes' sword so I'm giving him one of my many spares. I'm interested in getting the rest of this line now for sure. Just wish they were available in the states.

A lot of those early 90s vehicles were really fun, though none of em seem to ever be as iconic as the late 80s stuff.

Personally, one of my favorite underrated Joe vehicles was the Mudbuster. A chunky armored pickup 4x4 with a huge harpoon launcher, working rear suspension and rubberband loaded ramming bumper. I never had the Vamp, so this was always my main light transport for the Joes (this and the Dino Hunter variant of the Desert Fox).

They went full on with the gimmicks at that point, but unlike the Joes themselves and many other action figure lines, the gimmicks on some of these vehicles were awesome. They had those two jets with hidden water cannons, a Cobra bulldozer with drop and fire missiles or that transforming Joe tank with the quick shot line of missiles. Gliders with pilots, a sub that could actually kind of rise and submerge on it's own, and then there was the Battle Wagon with it's ridiculously oversized rapid fire gatling missile launcher. A lot of these things had play features that were actually features and not toy ruining gimmicks.

Joe and Cobra vehicles were always at their best when they just went crazy with the designs.

Outside of like two specific figures, Classified has been a consistently fantastic line for me. Some of the best articulation in a retail western line, usually tons of gear which can all be stowed and carried (with very few exceptions) and just great paint and sculpt work.

Grunt will be just that, a generic Grunt with his generic guns and even an extra generic faceless army man helmet. But if he's anything like all the other Classified figures, he'll be the best damn generic soldier you've ever bought.

....though you may have to white over his name tag if you buy multiples. It's a cool detail, but a terrible decision to put a name tag on a potential troop builder.

I'm pretty sure its not actually creating custom faces for everyone. They just have some generic face sculpts and they pick whichever one is closest to your face scan. So you shouldn't be able to create an actual celebrity likeness using it.

Hot damn all these reveals are just fantastic. I haven't actually bought any Retro card figures yet, but I may need to grab Scarlet and Duke.

I'm not a fan of Mutt not having a relaxed face, but it's not a deal breaker for me. And I also don't like how the Techno Viper's weapons aren't being shown as removable. Even in his missile launcher set, the tools seem to be fused to the backpack. If they made it so those tools can't come out of the back, in a line that is all about the accessories, I'll probably just skip the figure entirely.

I'm not one to brand wars, but I gotta agree that these generic soldiers look a lot better then the ones Vala put out. If the Frogs go on sale I might grab a pair to keep Torpedo company seeing as they have most of his gear and then some. They're coming out in batches and waves, happens after every pulse con. Joe stuff probably won't be up for another few minutes at the latest. Hell, I remember last year it took almost a half hour for the figures to go up for sale.

I'm really glad that they addressed some of the problems collectors have been having, like Retro Cards being Wal-Mart exclusive and the cardboard being too thin, as well as not dumping all the preorders on us all at once. I have a certain amount of money each month that I can spend on GI Joe and I don't mind picking a few up every month, but if there's like 8 releasing at the same time after a long drought it's extremely overwhelming.

Same, and it's a double burn when the shit sells out in a day and doesn't restock for weeks/months if ever and you end up having to pay more for it on the aftermarket

I'm kinda disappointed in the Eel. He's just Torpedo with one less gun and a different hat. Even the original had the much cooler harpoon gun, while the Classified just gets the same one as Torpedo.
