Bob laid the foundation for like, *some* of the lore, and all the big trademarks like Optimus Prime, Megatron, Cybertron, Autobots etc. At most, he wrote some truly awful marvel comics issues. What people remember about Transformers, the designs, the stories in the animated series, obviously the toys etc Bob had nothing to do with. I think he gets so much credit for Transformers because Americans are used to seeing their fiction being the product of one or maybe two creators (Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Frank Miller, George Lucas, etc). Transformers from the get go is collaborative and it can't be described like this, and to give Bob so much credit for being the "true" creator of Transformers is so reductionist that it's comical.
