Recently got this guy from a friend when I mentioned I wanted this when I was a kid. Its ok but it would be cool to see it as a modern transformer. wondering if anyone else has a figure they want a modern version off

I don't want modern versions of anything. Modern TF toys are too flimsey and hollow. I want remakes of modern toys done in that chunky style from unicron trillogy.

I hated Skids and Mudflap but I bought the shit out of this because it's a god damn duocon ice cream truck and that's badass no matter what. Yeah it's a flimsy piece of shit and neither robot looks good transformed, but it exists and that's enough.

Back in 2006 they had this line of Transformers called Real Gear Robots. These were basically transformers that turned into handheld items like phones, game controllers, cameras, etc.

These weren't necessarily bad but the main problem was that they were all WAY too small. The controller transformer for example turned into a game controller that was smaller than a single Joycon. The camcorder transformer could probably fit in the battery compartment of an actual camcorder. Imagine a G1 Megatron that was a third of the size of a real gun, too small to be held by an adult, too big to be held by another transformer. Basically core class toys that should have been deluxe or voyager sized.
Would love to see another toyline like this, but with the figures actually being the same size of the appliances they're based on.

I would get a transforming robot wrist watch if it actually functioned as a digital watch just for the novelty. I'm pretty sure such an item existed in the 80s anyway.

I definitely wouldn't call them "bad" figures but I'd like the Transmetals redone to fix the paint flaking.
It really killed my enthusiasm for collecting them. Some of the gimmicks aren't great and could be updated or removed too.
It's a real shame because they are my favorite line, design wise.
