My shelf is a mess rn, but I've got them organized into teams:
>Con ground forces
>Con air team (also includes ground control guys like airwave)
>Predacons/Con beastformers
>Bot civilian vehicles
>Bot industrial/military vehicles
>Maximals/Bot beastformers
I've got a bunch of different lines all mixed together in these. My seekers are a whole smorgasbord of different molds since I didn't want them to all be the exact same guy in different colors.

Does anyone know what the fuck is up with these images? Someone dropped them in a previous thread saying it's Legacy Meteorfire and I'm not sure if this is just an old Misfire prototype in colors that resemble Meteorfire or if Hasbro's really going to re-use the mold (and possibly re-issue Misfire).

Thank you, I was wondering especially since there was a relatively inexpensive Misfire on Ebay and my desire to own him has been off the charts. I reverse-searched the images and found nothing. Since it seems unlikely I'll ever get another chance at him under $100 I pulled the trigger.

meteorfires head, forarms, and lower legs are all blue.
his torso and shins are the only thing that's yellow.

Speaking of ol' Opty, I really hope we get a new primalbat/convobat, it'll be my first optimus prime if they do.. but if not that, or if not JUST that, what beast mode do you think Prime might actually get? i don't know that a recolor exists, but I can tell you anytime you're curious, you can look up a toy on the wiki and it'll tell you all the times that mold has been reused, so if there's a non-battle-damage version, that'll help..

Not the anon you were talking to, but I'm fine with the recent Earthrise Prime; I never saw the G1 cartoon and grew up with Beast Wars, but my older brother had the G2 one with the voice box on the trailer, and that toy is the closet to the one my brother had; it's also close to how Prime looked in both Beast Wars an Beast Machines.
That being said, Optimus Primal is still 'my' Optimus.

Yep, "Classic Animation Optimus Prime" or you could go with the Takara Premium Finish version, which still has "Battle Damage" but it's more realistically painted.

This is a tangent but I I would kill to see Optimal Optimus in Fire Guts God Ginrei colors. Optimus Optimus' main colour is orange with contrasting colors but Gunrei is orange with complimentary colors it woulf work so well.

It kills me we only ever got 1 new Prime in Fire Guts colors, and it was a Botcon exclusive. Then Japan never did one for their new Ginrei.

Also I'd kill to see Optimal Optimus with a real truck or airplane altmode.

NTA, but I've no strong connection to G1 through the cartoons nor the toys; I got into Transformers because I like the idea of vehicles that turn into robots. To that end, I think Prime should look like a truck that just stood up. I'm a pretty big fan of MP-10 for that reason. Sure it has some adherence to accuracy, but it almost comes off as a coincidence simply because the toy is revisiting the original Diaclone concept of "what if a 79 Freightliner COE turned into a robot?", but with 2011 engineering.

I'm a big fan of the Classics mold for the same reason; it's the concept of "What if a truck became a robot?", but with even more unique ideas because, for a time, classics WAS about reimagining the characters to be more contemporary. Stuff like the transforming windvane/shield/blaster and his smokestack guns are great details that make it a fun toy in its own right, regardless of what's accurate. But honestly I just love his headsculpt and the shape of his chest windows and his proportions overall. Extremely "heroic", even moreso than his basic G1 design.

Big fan of Laser Prime, as well (not necessarily the Legacy toy, though) for a lot of the same reasons. It's a neat concept that looks very "heroic" especially with his towering shoulders. If I were tasked with creating new Transformers media, I'd probably give Prime his Laser look by default. There's just no mistaking him for anything but "the guy in charge".

I don't think they were trying to hide the hands, I think it moreso the fact that the wheels needed to get out of the way for both of the other modes, and having them clip into the hands like that was an easy way to secure them in place for truck mode. The dude literally has his entire torso on his roof, I don't think they were going out of their way to hide anything.

Jumping off from this post, the best "Truck standing up" Optimus is the Bumblebee movie one. His only flaw is his legs unpeg easily. Most Optimus toys just give up at the legs but he's a rare one where the truck mode is a real truck first.

I dont know much about CHUGism but I was just happy to see these guys got some love. I am bothered somewhat by the obeession with "cartoon accurate" or "toy accurate" these days. I'm not saying I dislike eother thing, but whats most importsnt to me is cool transformations and cool robot & alt modes. I'd rather not sacrifice either for accuracy and I'm perfectly fine with vehicle bits on my robots- they are Transformers after all.

Anyways, anybody know a good method for cleaning these guys up? Lots of dust and grime in Roadtraps crevices and cracks. I'm guessing a moidt q-tip will suffice?

Moist q-tip should be fine. I usually use one in combination with lysol wipes whenever I buy something used because humans are gross. If you're going to use disinfecting wipes, go with lysol over clorox; the bleach can fuck some shit up, obviously.

Got Hotshot in today, and you know what? I really like him. Not perfect, the leg kibble is a bit annoying (though not as much as I had thought) and there are some articulation hangups that annoy me (head should have been a balljoint and wrists would have been nice) but he's cool. He poses nicely and he updates just enough about the original to feel fresh without deviating too far from the source. I wish his expression was a little more, well, expressive; the headsculpt is actually really nice but I wish he had a smile rather than the blank "stoic" face. Seriously, what is it with Hasbro and refusing to give modern TFs any kind of actual expression? Not even asking for the old toy's demented JaAm loving happy face, as fun as that would have been.
Still. Good toy, I was very pleasantly surprised by him.

I ended up with the tie-in comic that featured "Knight God Fire Guts Ginrai" or whatever that repaint is called and it REALLY made me want him. Back then he was like $150 bucks on ebay, and now he's going for more than twice as much.

The mix of orange and red with the touch of lavender for that sick Cybertronian Knight insignia is still fantastic. He just needs a sword.

It's really a shame that Transformers has pretty much cornered the market on the concept of transforming vehicle robots. I think there's a lot of room to make some truly amazing toys if they weren't shackled to a pre-existing franchise.

Not really. Japan has transforming vehicle toylines, but it's stuff like the Diaclone reboot where the alt modes are kinda sorta nothing. Which is pretty much because Transformers exists and co-opted the concept of the original toyline. Everything else is Chinese bootleg stuff, or kid's toylines designed with like 5 points of articulation in bot mode.

IMO, new Diaclone stuff should have just done what the old Diaclone toyline was, but with new cars and characters, distinct from the Transformers themselves.

This, but then the line would have been competing directly with Transformers. I can see why they shifted to modular bots and focused on the tiny base/mini-figure aspect.

Diaclone was never about transforming cars, those toys were from a specific Car Robots subline. The reboot is sticking to its roots.

Well that and the fact that they'd have to pay for car licenses nowadays.
There's no point in bringing back Diaclone Car Robots if they have to make up genericized vehicles. That's basically what they're doing now with the convoys anyway, just without the pretense of them being real trucks.

Well, if they wanted to do new/original toy concepts that would be cool. Like the whole reason this got brought up in the first place was because companies aren't making new/original car robots designs because they have to compete with Transformers. And they won't easily get licensed by actual carmakers because... they have to compete with Transformers. Hence lamenting that Transformers has effectively cornered the market on transforming car robots.

It happened with Classics Lugnut and Legends Slipstream forever ago but those designs were better. Slipstream's lore is that she literally went to the G1 Universe and got a new body too. Also picking characters that never existed in G1 helped a lot somehow.

As a big fan of Hot Shot, I just can't help but feel disappointed by the changes they did make to the transformation, cuz the original was so simple by design, and the alterations they did only serve to make the legs AND arms worse, yknow? Like my boy needs his giant gloves with the windshields, the Legacy figure looks wimpy!! (Also his shoulders were made G1 cubes so grr)
Honestly that's not even my big problem though, you're right that it's overall still just okay. Naw, my problem is that the rear part of the car (his backpack) is just so completely hollow, that it's barely even classifiable as such. It's more like a frame than anything; his rear bumper is completely missing, which is such an important part of his silhouette!
I just don't know, dude. He's still arguably the best Armada Hot Shot we have to date, but I still feel like I'd rather just buy the original over it, just because of the needless concessions it makes.
All that said I'm sincerely glad you got to enjoy him, anon. Don't let my griping take that away, I just wish I did too.

Bludgeon just having a sword likely counters Tarn not being able to hold up the massive cannon. Anything beyond shoulders awkwardly obstructing or pushing against the head isn't possible, you have like 3 options to place his arms. Same issue BB Soundwave has due to his shoulders. It's just awkward and clunky to handle.

What helps Slicer and Flamewar compared to the rest of the figures is they pull double duty as their original counterparts (and in Flamewar's case was only SG for the paint budget)

I enjoy him. He's not a very good representation of bludgeon as is, but the colors still pop and the sword is a cool addition. Transformation has some clearance issues with the chest area (particularly the head) but otherwise I like it. Posability is awesome except for those shoulders. Man, those shoulders are baaaaad, no other way around it.

I have since come to dislike "limbs fold into hollows in the body" formers, but it's acceptable and there's probably a way to make that actually HELP a robot mode instead of hinder it. Basically i'm glad transformers aren't bricks anymore, but they should still keep a little of the brick sensibility with regards to constructing a humanoid body out of multiple other bodies. luckily, things like cars and tetrapods are generally longer than they are tall or wide, so it shouldn't be that hard. I'm really not sure what they were going for here because they don't look good in ANY mode.

No, not at all, in IDW SG they were just normal SG characters.
Slicer is a particularly odd case because his toy was a Decepticon (like the Action Master) but his comic self was an evil Autobot, symbol and all. Mark implied that in the story he'd a be a Decepticon double agent to explain the symbol,but that never happened. IDW didn't even bother to explain why he'd be called Slicer instead of Wheeljack.

he has these super cool pauldrons, but because they're so big, it feels like the upper arm should protrude from it more. just slightly longer arms to match up with the long legs.
also, two more sets of treads form a 'ribcage' (along with 'trapezius muscles') and elbows should always reach the bottom of the ribcage.
because the shoulder hinges outward like that, it makes the problem even worse. it's a mild problem, but it's piled up on itself.

shoulders that swing out that way are okay, the trouble is that they didn't even try to (or in this case, probably couldn't) put a little retracting flap or pylon in there to fill out the space. and also, the hinge for the swinging-out part is set too high.

It's just bad and antiquated design, but it keeps happening for some reason even though it looks retarded and hinders articulation every single time (Jhiaxus got lucky with those transformation joints)
It feels like the designers don't even actually mess with the stuff they make somtimes, just a few minutes with a figure that has hot rod shoulders lets you see how glaringly bad they are

I wish. For as much as people bitch about the Laser Prime mold sucking and being re-released, it certainly never shelfwarmed anywhere near me. I actually kinda bought her just for the little red and black version of pteraxodon. He matches really well with a ton of my favorite figures so I don't regret it. Flamewar herself was surprisingly decent and her bike mode is actually really good, but she's just a bit on the wibbly side, overall and her partsforming is a bit uninspired.

It's aight. IMO basically only gets worth watching by adults at S3, though.
Cyberverse's biggest problem is that it targeted very young toddlers at first with S1, then like idk 6-y/o's with S2, and finally promoting itself to 7-y/o's with S3. Not to say that's inherently a bad thing, Rescue Bots is GOAT'd of course, but combined with Cyberverse's lower-than-average budget it meant that the show could never fully reach it's admittedly pretty good ambitions.
The story went in very interesting places, but the potential wasn't fully realized because of, well, budget. The writing couldn't really explore its concepts further, the VA's were good but some were admittedly cheap and capable of only one tone (either that or they had little voice direction; like how the UT dubs had the Beast Wars VAs, yet they couldn't pull in good performances for the rushed show dub, yet they COULD for the late-release PS2 game...), and overall the show just felt like underachieved potential to me.
All that said, again though, S3 (and a good chunk of S2 actually) are pretty good fun, if innocent and maybe a bit basic sometimes. It ain't a bad show.

My hot take is that Cullen's Prime was almost never good. In early G1 it's a really crappy John Wayne impersonation, and in Bayverse it's just a monotone grumble. The only time he was ever decent was in the '86 Movie, and I almost wonder if they forced him to take acting classes during Season 2 so he wasn't a total embarrassment on the silver screen.

Yes that's what I'm saying. I obviously don't have the Tidal Wave toy on me because they're still making it or something, but since Tidal Wave is Titan that means Tidal Wave is going to be a big Metroplex size bot who transforms into the Dark Fleet and splits into his 3 components. And his accessories will be a smaller version of him that he can PROBABLY wield as a gun and can split apart and connect onto Megatron for his Burning Mode. Tidal Wave himself does not combine with Megatron, a facsimile of him will do that instead.

overall, I'd say I was pleased with most of the reveals here. Tasmania Kid and Tigerhawk (despite the wolf head) are my main standouts, but the rock dudes are pretty neat too. May pick up thundertron as well, but he's also getting a redeco or slight remold in the walmart subline? Tidalwave and Magmatron are likely instant buys, but im also a little worried how they'll fuck him up.

I get where you're going with this, but they weren't exactly super ariculated or in need of it. One is mostly flippers and the neck has the articulation, the other id mostly wings, and the last is mostly legs. Not exactly a bunch that needs anything more.

I might get the little rockbike guy, he looks neat. My enjoyment of that will inform my decision to get the bigger rock guy who turns into a rocktruck.
I'm not a big fan of the weaponizer gimmick, I skipped Fossilizers entirely and only have Cog and Brunt. I'm not calling it bad, I'm just not that interested in it.

Energon Megatron being downsized to that scale and losing nothing is lol. Tasmania Kid looks great, easy pass on Tigerhawk. Thundertron might be a sale. Interested to see Magmatron and Tidal Wave in real. What if they do a Black Zarak for Tidal Wave and Broadside it later?

Instead of following the animation model they followed the toy instead, because there was no animation model to begin with. A blessing in disguise as it turns out thinking back on how Thundertron would've appeared in the third season of Prime if it weren't for the change in director.

Problem is that they might only include the face plate as a repaint only thing, or give it to a Wing Blade version that I'm not interested in since I'll lack the axe and wont have animation accurate versions of the grappling hook or water/foam cannon.

Chase is blatantly meant to also be a Prime Cliffjumper toy. His overall shape is very similar, same with the car mode, and he had pipes on the sides that resemble the one's on Cliffjumper.
