I looked into jp se shop for the new 3 figures and didn't see any nft nor any exclusive version that has a 3d version of the toy viewable in an app unlike for Cloud, Tifa and Aerith, the new 3 figures are also available in global site of HLJ, and Amiami(didn't see them in Hobbysearch though)

It's nice that these are actually attempting to bring the 2D designs into 3D.
I was trying to play the FF7 phone game and the difference between the 2D art used for mug shots and menus and the 3D models is extremely jarring, even for original characters.
That Barret figure I particular looks very good. That guy looks like an entirely different human being in every iteration of FF7 so it's cool to see a figure that actually resembles my mental image of him.

My local game store got in all of the Bring Arts FFT figures, so I cracked and bought Ramza. The figure is nice, though the lack of bicep swivel is kind of annoying, but holy shit the price is awful for something so barebones. They have the Vagrant Story set in too, and I really want it but $200 is a tall fucking order. I love the game and Yoshida's designs though, and I can't see it ever getting any other options, so I'm tempted.

Strangely enough I got most of my accessory-packed Bring Arts on mid to huge discounts, while paying JP retail for these more recent barebone releases. I don't trust the aftermarket when it comes to FF at least.

tbf most are pre-2020 Dragon Quest figs, but they started jewing those too with DQV.

It's crazy to me how people ITT are defending the price jump from 8800JPY in 2022 to 12000JPY in 2023 when you're also getting less accessories. You'd think FF7's cast would at least given options for other weapons, as that was the first FF game to really let players appreciate a new piece of equipment since the model would change. Heck, didn't the older PlayArts toys include an alt weapon for every character?

When I started collecting back in 2012 the original Play Arts line, which were more like 1/10, were about $30. Play Arts Kai which were much bigger were about $50-60. Figma and Figuarts were about $40 shipped from Japan. Figuarts is the only one that hasn't at least doubled in price since then.

Both, probably. I got her on sale as my first DQ BA, then I had to replace her because the one I got had smudges and flakey paint everywhere, and the cape was stuck to her butt.
Replacement also had the cape issue, probably every Alena (and by extension Hero) that have been sealed for a while, because Square was too retarded to NOT put a plastic sheet between the two pieces - so she'll have some paint transfer.

None of the original Playarts I picked up came with alt weapons, just alt hands. But there was an FFVII weapon set being sold for the line, which I sadly never grabbed when I had the chance.

Though back then, those toys could be bought for cheap and you'd find them regularly discounted at cons and such. I bought Yuffie for like $5 at a con and the booth still had an entire rack of em he was trying to dump.

Buzzmod/figma have some release that hit 12k and they both offer insane accessories such as alternate faceplates. Bring Arts has always carried a price tag about 20-30% above the other import lines because Square knows people will pay it for their favorite FF characters. At least all the KH figs came with 2-3 total faces, FFVIII shit having none is pretty ridiculous. I have Cloud/Tifa/Aerith pre-ordered at least, but I'm going to wait and see how Cloud's QC turns out on average before ordering this next set of three.

(SH)Figuarts is from Bandai, the other two from Square.
SHF are generally around 1/12 scale, Bring Arts as well, though can be a bit smaller depending on the license (see >>10640481 for example. The girl is BA, the other two SHF).
Play Arts are much bigger.

I think the problem with PAK is they've fluctuated WILDLY over the years in just about every aspect from quality, to scale, to price. We complain about Bring Arts, but at least their prices have less than doubled so far and they all more or less scale. PAK went from 4200JPY for their earlier figures to 18800JPY for their current ones which are so much larger they look like different lines. That line's popularity falling off was part of why Bring Arts was created in the first place.

I have about the entire KH line (minus some Soras), FFT, and the 2Bs. They're ok. At worst they are terrible, Terra is probably the worst import I own. At best they're pretty solid figures that feel a little overpriced. I really only recommend buying if the characters are some of your favorites, or if you really love the games. Compared to the average SHF, figma, buzzmod, whatever, they're clearly a tier below if for no other reason than lack of accessories and higher price tag.

Probably, no info yet though and from the looks of it, its a boxed set and looks like its missing hte chase figure(Cloud in a dress), that new polygon save point though, I might get it if I do go all in for the Bring Arts FF7 line, just need to wait and see the final mass produced figures in how it will turn out

I'm so frustrated. These are definitely not going to feel worth $100 each. But they look so fucking good, and the FFVII artwork was the last thing I cared about in this franchise. They got their hooks in me.

I can't stop thinking about how simultaneously joyful and infuriating it's going to be to unbox Red XIII and realize I paid $100 for something so skinny and simplistic. It looks like maybe a $40 toy at BEST.

100 dollars seems about right in our current economic climate. All the foreign shit has been slowly getting more expensive. Could be a good opportunity for domestic toy makers to fill the gap. 15 yrs ago or more, that was great for what technology/sculptures had to work with. Nowadays, you can design in a pc, 3d print it then work it out the final touches, not saying its way easier now making toys but with better technology and more knowledge, it usually leads to better product output

They can't really reuse the Tifa mold for anything else so they need to make their money back with just Tifa. I've just been seeing this type of stuff alot lately. I do agree their should be more hands and faces. But it is what it is. I'm just crossing my fingers the printing doesn't get fucked up on the face like remake Tifa.

I think if we had some faceplates and maybe one alt weapon I'd feel better about it. For around the same price buzzmod gives 2-4 alt faces and multiple spare hands, along with normally including soft goods which always drive a price tag up. Figma at 12k same thing, face plates, hands, and at that price point you usually get good accessories. Bring Arts is known for having very hit and miss quality, until we get these guys in hands there's always a chance the faces are gonna be absolute ass. I think the price is in line with where it;s been for years- 15-20% above the other import lines for less stuff.
The sculpts being incredibly on-model is the biggest plus these have going for them.
