I wasn't too into the swole Violator, or any of the looks of the new figures at first, but the Violator and some of the waves 1 and 2 stuff grew on me. At least he had all the craggy, wart-y skin sculpted and had a wash to bring all of his detail out. And as much as people complain, I though the Gunslinger, Ninja, and She-Spawns looked ok. Again, would have preferred the older looks, but they're decent figures. Medieval Spawn was pushing it for me. The sculpt is there, but the lack of paint sucks. also, he's got way too many of his armor parts as a rubbery plastic, so it just feels cheap.
The line seems to get worse wave by wave, and last two or three have mostly been terrible. Why the fuck is the Sinn figure black? Was that an error, or was it intentional? The lack of paint really kills many of these figures. Manga spawn looked terrible, and the two new figures look awful. Most of the bad guys look like shit.
Honestly, even these old-ass figures that McFarlane was doing before he started doing the highly detailed, highly sculpted, highly painted McStatues are more fun than the "modern" stuff.
