>>10651108Appreciate your thread because it's what reminded me of the doll initially and got the ball rolling.
I pieced it together from winning pieces in auctions, so it was much cheaper than buying whole: for the doll alone (excluding clothes and hair) it was about $400-$450-- BUT I technically have more than one doll. The one I'm posting about is a DDdY (other than the arms which I only had DD III of.) A couple auctions I won were small bulks of pieces, so I ended up with a nearly completed DD III from that too.
About the arm thing, the only thing of DDdY I did NOT end up with were the arms. The pegs are a different shape, so they don't fit on the DDdY's upper skeleton. Get this though: the coupling swaps direction between DDdY and DD III, so to fit the DD III arms and upper skeleton onto the lower skeleton of the DDdY, I had to fashion a female coupler. Frustrating, but it worked.
Since I have so many excess pieces (including EVERY chest piece that fits DDdY) I'd estimate the pieces I'm using for this single doll were around $250-$300 total.
An update about the mouth and eyes: I pushed the mouth more into a smile, thinned out the eyelashes/eyeliner pieces some, and just to try it out, I added some white liner to the outer sides. It's very, very easy to remove if I don't like it. Too tired to get better photos right now, but here's what I got just after finishing.
