Supposedly they wanted an interior, but no UC's set has ever had a minifig scale full interior. The best was the falcon but that was just small dioramas, and not a full scale interior.
Unless you are into ship battles like the beginning of episode 3, there's no reason for these large scale sets (other than display).
Lego used to offer great playscale buildings (when I collected castle and kingdoms) but the push for accuracy ruined that.
If I were in charge,I who woyld've made a ucs hangar that's polybag scale. That way you could have some playability. The hangar wouldn't even need to be inside the venator.
Overall the ucs venator says a lot about the community (specifically wanting doll house sets, rather than display models) and shows Lego puts no thought into anything except aesthetics.
