I’m looking to buy a high quality Supes figure and the most popular answers are either the Mafex Hush or Mafex TDKR figs. The Hush figure is pure unobtanium with average prices north of $200 while the TDKR figure can be found for less than MSRP. I think the latter is the superior figure, so what makes the Hush figure so much dearer? Is it just because the TDKR is too beefy?

i dont own the tdkr superman but i do have the hush and i perfer it because it is less bulky like you said, other than that, seems like the tdkr has the better cape and color vibrance than the hush to me.

The Hush version is considered a more evergreen version of the character. Despite being from a specific storyline, Jim Lee's art style is used across multiple books, and is even considered by some to be DC's house style. Especially during the New 52 era. Meanwhile, the DKR version is very distinctly from that storyline/continuity so it's not as desired. I don't have the DKR fig, but if it's anything like the Hush one, it's a stellar toy. If you're willing to have a beefier, more stylized Superman you won't be disapponted. I will say, the colors on the DKR one are a bit better imo, the Hush one is a tad washed out.

I think it kind of doubles as a DCAU fig— the Timm style doesn’t really translate well to toys. I think the exaggeration serves it well.

I got a reissue super for under $150 on ebay MIB. It depends on how bad you want him I guess but if you do decide to hush try to get the reissue because the first release had some issues they corrected like the long torso, cape emblem etc.

I agree. My only issue with the DKR fig is Supes’ expression, not that Hush is any better. Literally just use picrel as a model. I’ll pay whatever.

I assume you mean John Byrne?
Someone did that already (and imo it's the best Superman figure made so far)

Not big into fabric on figures unless it increases articulation like Darth vaders robes or pyramid’s heads butcher’s robe or for capes I think mafex nailed that you need plastic sculpt to get the body proportions right also yeah Byrne not shuster my dumbass

I think the faces look fine it’s accurate to the art a lot better than Mezco’s Micheal Myers which both look like shit literally worse than the NECA mask/head sculpt
